Goodness, this song pretty much connects all of the dots. It’s one that I wrote after returning from a long period in Wyoming. I was thinking on things of The West. I do that sometimes, think. It will be featured on a new record of mine that is currently in the works.

The first song that I wrote upon arriving in Nashville. It is probably the oldest and one of the most played songs live from “The Cloud Peak Wilderness” album. There were many nights playing at The Occidental Saloon that this would be the first song of the set. It just always felt right.

My favorite song that I have ever wrote. It was written on my 25th birthday after the party was over. I was feeling nostalgic and a bit melancholy. So, I drank what was left of the beer, thought about happy things and wrote this song. Birmingham is available on “The Cloud Peak Wilderness” album.

This song I wrote with my friend, David Stewart. David is the owner of The Occidental Saloon. I have spent many nights on stage at the saloon playing songs with David. I was anticipating a broken heart and David was thinking about writing a rodeo song. Wyoming Wind is the result. It was awarded “Song Of The Year” by the Rocky Mountain Country Music Association.

I have always enjoyed playing this song. As a songwriter, picking cover songs can be tricky. You have to pick covers that you actually want to play, that you’re able to put yourself in. The Boss is one of my favorite songwriters and some of my favorite memories playing at The OX are tied to this song.
