trade company investments are a thing to focus when you have lots of money to spend. You might want to make the mollucas also a trade company. Alternativelly, and because you don't have a bigger of a powerbase yet, you could make the mollucas full states, to make the max amount of money possible from those provinces. State edicts are great, specially when you're about the develop a province (you enable the -10 development cost edict). The trade edict is pretty good in this case, they will allow you to earn even more in the Sevilla Trade node, activate that edict in all your states, you can change it later if you want. Check your trade mapmode frequently, there you can change your merchants easier, see the paths which trade takes, and assign provinces to trade companies easier. You might want to collect trade in only your home node; all your other merchants should be assigned to transfering towards seville. Also, your pirate hunters are on the safi trade node, you might wanna assign them to hunt pirates in the sevilla trade node for them to stop

When you want to add provinces to a trade company en masse, you can click the trade menu (‘e’ key) -> click the trade node the provinces are in -> click the ‘add all provinces to trade company’

Land tradition affects the quality of your generals, naval dito your admirals. both are gained by events and combat and decay over time

Make your south africa provinces a trade company, they will give you an extra merchant. Also, aim to colonize the clove provinces (in the mollucas). Those provinces are where the real money is made, as cloves is the most valuable trade good there is

Defender of the Faith will likely drag you into wars with powerfull nations so no I think. I will say though, even if you want to avoid wars in europe you can not allways choose and you will have rebellions. Also, qonquering non european nations, especially in asia is a good way to expand your empire so do not neglect the military to much.

Why are your China garrison outside the city and not in it? Do partisan strikes damage the unit in the city?

Any reason why you level bombed Chengchow but didn't artillery shell and tac bomb it to at least probe for an attack, or at the very least knock the entrenchments down to 1 for next turn?

Dont forget to give the estates privilege that give more settler increase, colony cost reduction and more assimilation, there's one for each estate! plus, to increase your economy faster, you might want to start building more light ships and assigning them to protect trade, aswell as building some markets in your main trade cities. They will give you a significant boost in income. Colonizing high development provinces is also good practice (and assigning them to trade companies) Finally, France is a huge threat! Avoid alliances with it's rivals, like Aragon, Burgundy or England. Since France is so powerfull, try at any cost ally France as fast as possible! Because France might have an interest in you, and can attack at any moment! Also, your colonial policy still gives you revolts, but changing it costs 1 stability. Still, the settler increase one will let you colonize much faster!

Japan needs Command and Control. That's kinda critical for them. Oh dear. BTW I managed to 4th time reconquer India, and conquer democratic Russia in my probably most epic HoI4 Japan game that I try win for about month. After I lost about 1 million Japanese soldiers in encirclements in middle east and nearly whole China, I managed to rebuild army, cut US supplies in China, and then managed to catch about 1 million of allied soldiers in one encirclement in middle east, by hair made encirclement that prevented their counter encirclement, and then obliterated about 1million another allied soldiers in second encirclement in middle east. I should finally naval invade Italy, they probably moved out most of divisions to fight my armies in Latvia, and Turkey. Meanwhile Nationalist Spain is somehow still hanging in Northwest Africa and because I'm distracting allies they still were not conquered, they are probably government in exile like de Ghoul was. Menchuko or Siam are probably supplying them with weapons, or they have local production, because I ran of infantry weapons multiple times. Offensive in Russia was very demanding, and I wanted to keep my tank production. Peru and V. managed to conquer Columbia who foolishly entered allied.

Take your age habilities always, they reset and change with the new age Also, Native assimilation is not bad, but dont forget colonization is a race, and pretty soon spain, england and france will be colonizing. Settler increase will be crucial. Get the estates privilege for more settler increase aswell

This would be quite harsh game considering you have problems with wining as Germany even in normal unmoded game.

Good game Colonel another very even gane between you and OCB. Personally looking at the state of things you should of won a minor victory but I think obviously you must take all major capitals to win. Well played

When you develop your provinces, be sure to always activate the state edict "encourage development", it will make it cheaper

to prevent coastal raids, 2-3 light or heavy ships are generally enough. You can mothball heavy ships with the anchor button when you click on them. The centers of trade are usefull much later on, you can improve them by clicking on the image with a port in the building section of a province UI. However building light ships and protecting trade with them is much better as they will pay for themselves gradually. Naval doctrine is also not a very good investment in the early part of the game. Also, dont forget you have years to do the agenda, and if you dont do it, its not very penalizing

some tips on your early gameplay as Portugal: 1. The nobility privilege that gives all estates influence and loyalty is great, the agenda doesn't matter 2. Assign your light ships to protect trade in sevilla, so you can squeeze more trade money from it 3. Build your flagship with the Portuguese explorers modification, it lets you explore the new world even without exploration ideas 4. Estates Agenda is always good 5. Dont be afraid of taking loans, they will be necessary and will let catch up faster. Burgher loans are specially good (the ones you take from the estate privilege) 6. You can mothball heavy ships if you're not using them (you dont have to pay full maintenance for them) 6. Follow your mission tree, it gives great bonuses :) 7. Colonial Nations are good. But in the case of Portugal, you should prioritize Brazil and the Carribean, those are the richest areas. Also try to colonize the centers of trade first in Africa and Cape and assign them to trade companies 8. You can boost your mana production in a category if needed by clicking the button that is right in front of the advisors, it will give you +2 points on that category in exchange of -1 in the other categories

Always when I play Portugal and do the colonial game you have to focus on caribia and when you have a colonial nation established (at least 5 provinces colonized ++ trade centers). After Caribia straight to Mexico because of all the valuable gold there. You can focus on the Peru region too because of the gold. You will get a very powerful Portugese empire because your colonial nations with gold provinces will give 50% of their yearly gold income (so huge amounts of ducats!!). To achieve this you have to take the first idea exploration and then the next idea has to be expansion to get +2 colonist and other modifiers. Diplomatically you can break the alliance with England it doesn't bring you any benefits and they are going to just hinder you and drag you to pointless wars. Ally Castille and pretty much you're safe from all threats. You can expand to Morocco's coast. In this game trade is a huge part of the money making, so you have always have to conquer trade provinces especially in your home node (Sevilla) and other nodes that are connected to your home nodes that bring trade to it for example: Ivory Coast, Caribbean are the most important. You can put traders to steer the trade towards your home trade node Sevilla to get even more money. Sorry if I brought some old information that somebody else said already but there is a some what quick guide. I just really enjoy playing Eu IV and sometimes the game can be little frustrating because the complexity. Hope this helped a bit! The victory conditions of the scenario should be reviewed, in my opinion.

If this was the real state of things in Sept 1945, the Allies clearly won the war. Europe under Allied control with only Helsinki surrounded. Soviets massing into Manchuria, China largely abandoned, and Japan partially invaded even before 1946 with all their navy destroyed and their ports blockaded. I think the worst case for the Allies is a Allied minor victory. You had a great comeback from 1943's dark times and I'd chalk this up as an Allied win by any metric. Japan is alive but rapidly dying and you would have completely won this war.

Perhaps play as Castille, should be a bit more forgiving and no shame in that scince you are new to the game. England might be a good option as well but you start being at war with France I think (100 years war).

trade company investments are a thing that you shouldn't prioritize. The purpose of colonizing the spice islands is to direct their trade towards you, and for that you have to control the nodes that make a path towards you, which are gonna be the Cape, the Congo and the Mollucas trade nodes. Check the trade map mode whenever you can so you can see the trade routes there are. Dont forget, the main ways to make money in the game is #1 trade #2 production and #3 tax (in this order) trade is very powerfull and you will be missing on a lot if you can't divert trade towards you. Trade ideas for your fourth idea group might be an excelent choice, or quality ideas if you want a stronger army

I recommend (highly) that you use your papal influence to enact bonuses from the pope. It's the little icon with two crossed keys at the bottom right/middle of the screen. You sit at 200 (max) influence. I recommend you use it's wasted over that.

Yes you get tariffs from your colonies, and can get gold fleets if your colony has gold. You can increase the tariffs and check everything in the subjects tab (just besides the estates tab). Also, when the natives attack your colonies, you can use the diplomatic interaction "enforce peace" to join the war on your colonies side and force them to peace out

trade companies are great for provinces outside your home continent. Since provinces that are not states have 90% autonomy, you receive -90% tax and production from that province. Trade companies focus on improving the trade money you get from those provinces, since you get so few from tax and production. They also give merchants. You can set up one trade company per charter (you can check trade charters in the colonial regions mapmode). Oh, and Overextension happens when you conquer new provinces.

Native tribes migrate from province from province. Eventually, they form confederations which take multiple provinces. You can see one moving in 12:40
