Great video!
Did you notice if there are o-rings inside the carb body where the fuel inlet fitting sgo into the carb body? Mine is leaking at that point but i cant remember if there were o-rings on the inlet fuel fitting or insode the carb body where the fuel enters.
@jakeburks3533 honestly can't remember at this point. Definitely sounds like you need a rebuild. Leaky carbs can be a real pain
@@ShadetreeMechanic okay, thank you.
At 6:03, what is the red valve thing called? My carb kit didn't come with one and the original was loose in the diaphram, trying to find how to request that - will likely need to get another kit I bet. I think the audio quality is fine, and orientation works fine on a phone if you hold it upright. Thanks for the video!!
I believe it's a relief "valve" of some kind. Good luck finding it.
@@ShadetreeMechanic Thanks!

My Volvo Penta SX-M manual says to use Synthetic with GL5
Quick silver is a good aftermarket option. Check with your local marinas, they tell you the same thing.
The last bolt near the motor is a bear for me, I had mirrors and a light and still took forever.
Like your video very helpful
Having same problem on my honda crostour need to replace whole tension assembly
Do you have the part number or size for the flywheel puller thanks and enjoying the content!!
I don't have the part number. When I did the research to buy it, it made sure to get a well-known brand because the cheap ones break.
Do you know where you boight it?@@ShadetreeMechanic
Keep up the goodness of showing what we don't know, I just bought a boat in this model and your video helped me a lot,
How did this turn out?
Thing runs great!
What did you end up having into it in parts? About to get one in a trade and guy says motor is seized up.
Do you have the rebuild kit #?
I found it on Amazon. Not sure which one I bought
I’m trying to figure out where he ordered the parts from I got a 500 Suzuki engine in mine and trans has a bad raddle in it worse that a baby rattler Could anyone tell me where to find parts and what might be the issue with a clanging racket
Американец и не надумолся шприцом масло наливать они пальцем тю-тю
Are both pulleys the same part number
At least on 3208 elbows your not supposed to
Has that boat been used in saltwater?
Primarily in Salt water
I like these but a lot of the used ones have a very bad discoloration on the navigation screen. Any thoughts on upgrading the nav, radio, info, back up screen.
I think you could replace it. It would definitely be challenging and I think finding a decent used one would be very hard. I'm afraid to look to see how much a new one would cost...
I was going to say, if the tensioner has gone bad it’s probably time to replace all the components while you have everything apart anyways. Nice job replacing all that, looks like a real pain in the as*.
You didn't show how you placed tensioner back in . 1/2 done
Did you put new rods and crankshaft
I did not.
I did not.
@@ShadetreeMechanic thanks for the info my friend 😁
That was an incredible journey. You are awesome. I'm very impressed. You need something else other than those jacks to hold up the car as a fail safe. Someone bumps the car you are crushed. It happened to a friend who had been working on cars for 50 yrs Be safe.
Glad you enjoyed it
i did gas tank straps years ago they were cheap back then like $20 for 2 from the auto parts store.
My mercruiser manual says to pull them apart and clean them with muriatic acid
I did the exact same thing but run my cylinder down against a piece of wood to form fit it before welding stap on back works good
Where’d you buy your parts? What site?
I don't remember unfortunately. The engine is a kawasaki so I assume from them?
A good learning experience. Thanks for sharing!
Can you send me some manual for that? I have sa same job on my to do! Thanks!
Good try.
Honestly I would have stitch welded the wedge to the splitter wedge and when I wanted to remove cut the welds and take that flux core welder inside heat up your metal first and you weld will lay flat and have more penetration 😉
I just bought a millermatic 185 instead. Good tips for welding still though. Thanks for watching!
Flux core welding is designed for outdoor use, it is gassless welding. Inside or outside will have zero effect on the welds laying flat. Preheating steel has zero effect on welds unless it is cast steel/iron and even then the preheat is mostly for stopping the cracking that happens with concentrated heat. Turn the welder up and weave the two pieces of steel together, flux welds (any welds) are stronger than the base metal if its done correctly. Clean everything very well no rust or paint in the path. Push the puddle into the seam and be sure to melt both sides of the seam into the puddle.
The preheat is so the metal doesn’t suck the heat from your weld is what I’m saying nobody is talking about cast that’s a totally different process with high nickel rod your arguing with the wrong guy I don’t weld for a hobby I build boats that go in the ocean everything I touch must be certified I was just helping the guy out with the stuff he had available
@@kyleschlee348 so you preheat 1/4 steel from a 1” strip for a good weld? So much for these boats you build. The welder would make the steel he was using red hot in short time, preheating would be useless and redundant.
If your using a 110 flux core harbor freight welder yes it will also remove the moisture and any contamination 😉
Flux core outside never comes out good when welding 😁
Flux core is specifically designed to be used outside. It has no shielding gas and the wind has less effect on the welding. This should have worked fine but obviously doesn’t have a strong enough welder for penetration. Stick welding is also flux welding, the flux is on the outside instead of in the core… pipe welders stick weld in all sorts of environments and weather without failure.
Yes a stick welder is for outside but flux core o30 and 035 don’t carry enough flux to weld in the wind and if your not really a welder who cares if you have a weak weld that breaks right
Sounds like you welded once and you think your a pro smh
@@kyleschlee348 i weld every day. But you can google flux core and get better information than what you are offering.
@@kyleschlee348 .030/.035 carry plenty of flux to weld outdoors if the wind is below 5mph. His problem was penetration due to lack of amps and wire speed. You can see the base metal in the breaks, there was no fusion, just surface bubble gum. Probably a 110v welder on a 15amp outlet turned up to the “door specs” meaning it wasnt actually pulling the proper energy to begin with. 110v welders should be run on 20amp receptacles for the best results. Google this information for yourself. If the base metal was fused properly the metal would have bent and broke somewhere else, the wire is stronger than the base metal by design. Thats why they have those numbers in their names, 60,000psi, 70,000psi etc.
Good attempt, I recently bought a 40 ton countyline log splitter and couldn't find a 4 way wedge. Contacted yt international wich is the manufacturer and was able to buy one for $103 bucks with shipping It was a headache trying to find it but time saving.
Hello , I did not note any mention of the match marks on the oil pump inner and outer rotors , I assume they should both be visible when they are put in the housing , don't think it matters whether they are inside or outside as long as they are matched . I believe these marks match the two pieces during manufacturing for best mating of the honed surfaces . ANY THOUGHTS
I would also like to known more about that. Nothing in the manual about that. Can someone explain?
What is the head torque specs
Give me a few hours. I'll post them when I get home.

@@ShadetreeMechanic have you fixed it yet I'm working on one for a friend
The useful service life of the manifolds can be further extended by sanding the sealing surfaces flat, giving new wider surfaces. The process is described on the left side of the manual/instruction that you showed in the video. The workshop manifold says to use 80 grit aluminum oxide paper or to mill the surface. I mounted abrasive paper onto a piece of glass and sanded manually. Where I live we have brackish water so my manifolds were not as corroded as the ones you got though.
What great information. Thank you for the comment!
Could have been a great video if i could understand what you are saying.
cheap china crap. Wouldnt trust that on the water.
Was the weight of the motor a pain to deal with? Any tips on how one person can manage pulling it out? Thanks for the videos!
It's very heavy and hard to handle. It was close to the max I could lift. Make sure you take it out of the correct side of the frame. Maybe an engine hoist?
@@ShadetreeMechanic Thanks! I ended up dismantling the entire atv down to the frame, engine, and the front diff. Only one CV axle would come out, so I needed to remove the engine before I could get the diff out. It was a lot easier having everything off because the frame and engine were on the ground at that point and could be scooted apart on the ground. Now I'm working on finding a company to sandblast the frame and all of the control arms. Good times.
Don’t really like the music but I’m trying to find out what makes the coil fire at correct time ??? Can you help me ???
Let me see if I can find the manual that describes the timing procedure. I'll let you know
If I need to replace the wires that go to that starter what do you recommend?
Which wires? All of them? The smaller wires are part of the harness and will be a pain in the ass to track and replace. The large power wire should be pretty simple. The bigger the gauge wire the better.
I would clean up the wires before putting on post they look bad
Always a good idea to clean the terminals before reinstall
did you have to take off the exhaust manifold?
No. Just the two bolts that hold it on
My 5.7GSi flooded and stayed that way for a few months. The starter terminals are grossly corroded and one thick red wire came off completely due to the corrosion. This wire goes directly to the battery. I don’t see that wire in this video. Is that not from the starter?
The top stud when the starter is installed is where the power wire from the battery goes. Sounds like you have a big job ahead. Good luck
Can you send the link of the one you purchased? How has it seemed to hold up?
I honestly don't remember what website I bought it from, however it's held up great and I've had no issues.
What you used to unclog that pipe that was carbonized?
Drill bit
hello can you really see through the pipes at the bottom part?
How did you get that first bolt off? I can’t get my socket in there, there’s no room.
It's tight, but mine has enough room for an adjustable rachet
I ground down an inexpensive socket (to make it a thin wall) and an open end wrench so they would fit for mine install. Worked for me
Thanks for the video! my engine flooded this past winter so I will be changing my starter as well. I did get the engine to run for a bit but then turns off...any advice?
Make sure the flame arrestor is clean (boat version of an air filter), while you have the f.a. off look at the condition of the carburetor, if there's corrosion, it should be rebuilt. Remove the fuel line from the carb and make sure the fuel pump is moving fuel. Good luck. Let me know how you make out
@@ShadetreeMechanic Great, thank you!
@Shadetree Mechanic new starter works great...after troubleshooting I found water in the filter , gonna pump out my tank and see if that does the trick
When the float bowl is normal way up(accelerator pump at the bottom), where should the float sit? Thanks, very helpful video..
I'm not 100% certain what you mean, but the float should be resting on an angle with no fuel. Once the fuel fills up it floats and prevents excess fuel into the carb. Give me some more info and I'll try and help.
You have to be kidding me ! You never put a c-clip on with a screwdriver.
