1974 Triumph TR6 Ford V8 Conversion
Cruising in a 1974 Triumph TR6 with Ford V8 Power. It's a beautiful British sports car that looks completely original until you open the hood. The real thrill begins when you get behind wheel of this powerful, high performance classic.

Cruising in a tastefully modified 1973 Datsun 240Z 3.1L. It's a great looking and driving high performance Z that is a thrill to drive and sure to put a smile on your face especially when the triple Weber carburetors come alive.

Cruising in a 36 Ford Hot Rod. It's Beautiful and Fast and it could be yours!
A FORD ENGINE IN A FORD THANK GOD 🙏 BLUE OVAL LOVE💙 💘
Very nicely done.
Beautiful car
I am surprised this is not a more common swap !
I worked on these when they were new in the late 70s, and they never looked this good. Well done.
Chick magnet
A Ford 302 V8 weighs 500 Pounds making the car nose heavy. How well it handles is questionable. The stock Front Suspension was never great to begin with, and by adding additional weight only worsens it. Depending on the additional HP and Torque, the Rear Differential Support Mounting was weak on TR6's and fairly easy to rip one of the Support Bolts from the carrier. How much was the Cooling System Capacity increased ? The Transmissions are not very strong to handle the additional power. Photos that illustrate a vehicle without any information or specifications of all the mods, are fairly worthless.
A "stock" 302 weighs that much, a later 5.0 roller weighs about the same as the Triumph 6, add aluminum heads, intake, pulleys and shorty headers and you're 60 lbs lighter, Replace the stock gearbox with a BW/Tremec T5 (which weighs 35 lbs less than a Triumph O.D. box) and power transfer isn't a problem. The rest can be beefed up with a welder and steel gussets.
@@johnjones928 Why aren't there any performance figures compared with a TR6 Engine equipped with Triple Weber Carburetors, 50" Thousand Cylinder Head Shaving and a 3/4 Camshaft Grind ?
@@emilefouquet9005 The mildest aluminum cylinder heads for a 5.0 are Ford Performance GT40X turbo swirls, with a mild roller cam, high rise dual plane intake, 600 CFM carb and dual exhaust you're talking around 350-375 crank hp with a good tune.
Fantastic do you want to sell it sometime let me know. I’m in Fort Myers Florida.
Gorgeous! Whats the displacement on the V8 conversion?
Salut my friend super car super video subscribe subscribe subscribe
Delightfully succinct and very well edited video covering such an endeavor. Had my attention peaked when I noticed the a.n. plumbing fwd on the driver's side bank. Not really relevant but hopefully you have a vintage 289 as the base for your mill's build replete with a crank-scraper and a dry sump system! NICE job on the transplant, too, sir!!
Goodness.
Sounds good.. 👍🇫🇷🇫🇷🇫🇷
Wolfe in sheep's clothing....in spades......Iv'e seen one of these myself owned by a friend.....He demolished it taking a tight bend....wheels spinning out of control.....
I love TR6s I have owned a 1971 and a 1976 they are a timeless design I think they will always look great.
Great build, but a waste having a HiPo car, & driving it like a granny, I got bored😴.
Imagine putting a Ford in a Ford, how novel. It should be that way every time.
How much??
That Windsor V-8 probably doesn't weigh much more than the 2.5 it replaced.
A 5.0 roller with aluminum heads, intake, accessory pulleys and shorty headers actually weighs LESS than the stock 6, replacing the Triumph's stock overdrive gearbox with a T5 will save an extra 35 lbs.
BEAUTIFUL
Does it run slower.
Beautiful beautiful car... Why on earth would anybody not keep it 100% stock??? The original Triumph engine sound is part of the charm. I admit I am a purist.
I must agree, I'd even go so far as to fit the Lucas PI.
The TR6/Jaguar 6cylinder is a more logical hybrid
Perfect styling what a lovely car. These just rusted away in Canada's Atlantic Provinces. Nice to see this beautiful example of Datsun's nicest car.
A Ford engine? Please no.
videos without narration/commentary are pretty frustrating IMO
Man, when I was a teenager back in the 1960s these Fords were a very hot item!!! In my opinion, one of the coolest body styles ever. These Fords were very sharp!
That small block Ford is a brilliant engine. Why more British manufacturers didn't use it is a mystery. That straight 6 in the Triumph originally isn't half the engine the Ford is. The Rover (Buick 215ci) V8 found it's way into so many British cars, but with some ali heads, again, the Ford is so much the better engine.
And it fits better, the Rover/Buick is wider.
Nice conversion !
Classy!
Very Nice
Cars in those days were built by men,the new stuff is built by politicians !
My only concern is how the additional weight would stress the frame and suspension. Looks like a clean swap.
Every time I see this video (eight years ) this it's the best 1936 Ford 3 W.🥰I hope it still exists!!
REALLY REALLY NICE!
No shit electric can can b compared
can you share the wheel specs , I am looking at buying one done what price range do u think these are selling for , the car is a 10
I bet thats awesome to drive
The driver made it looked like he was going to do a drive by like in the mobster movies in the beginning of the video, but still that’s a Beautiful car 👍🏽
Very nice job. I used to have a Tr-4/ford with a 289. Awesome car with alum heads, manifold, water pump - it weighs less than a triumph 6 cyclinder. Looked like it was meant for engine compartment. May do another project. Tr4 or tr6. Yours looks beautiful
Damn that's sexy!!!👍👍👍
did not drive at 6 c speed.. disappointing.. no interest..
Where did it end up going?
What is the color of the interior?
I’ve been thinking about getting one but I’m 6 foot tall and I’m worried that my knees will be in the dash as it appears yours might be what is your experience with that do you have enough legroom?
Nice Job!
are you interested in selling
Awesome, fantastic job, fantastic car.
@joelschlotz .....any idea where this car is now?
