In the early eighties I heard this gifted pianist in the VARA studio in Hilversum play Bach's Goldberg Variations - I still have a well preserved recording of it on cassette. And now, almost 40 years later, I am delighted to see her again with this beautiful Schubert sonata!

Was für ein edles "Sprechen"! Der ganze Scarlatti in seinem Reichtum in einer (seiner schönsten?) Sonate konzentriert! Solch lebendige, "sprechende" Artikulation und federnde Bässe, herrliches Klavierspiel!

So einfach und klar es sich anhört: es ist sauschwer. Der Pianistin gelingt es die Polyphonie hörbar zu machen. Trotz relativ langsamer Spielweise im 2. und 3. Satz sind etwa die Synkopen sehr deutlich, nicht zugeschüttet oder verwaschen. Man sieht es auch: sie bgibt alles...

I thought I knew this piece - then I tried to play along with her...didn’t turn out so well. I’ve decided to quit piano forever.
