New Project!! Scale Number Board PART 1 \\ 1/8th Scale
มุมมอง 154 ปีที่แล้ว
We're changing our house address plate to a scale number board!! This was a crazy project from start to finish. Modeled after the number boards seen on EMD SD-40 or GP-38 in the west coast, our attempt was to build a half scale version. This video is a walk-through of how we thought we were going to build the 1/8th scale version of it. Stay tuned for updates and we'll be doing similar projects ...

    Thanks for the video. I'm looking for a mixer to use as my home studio console (band rehearsals and option to record multitrack via USB) - but want the option of portability for a couple 'big band' gigs. Loathe the idea of relying on/purchasing an additional iPad/tablet. Looks like a bit of a learning curve for a first time Behringer guy though.....

    I have a Mapex Armory In the rain forest green. I added a 14 inch floor tom to have the 2 up and 2 down config. I would have bought the studio ease but I do not care for the tone of the shallower drums. I only use the best quality and sounding heads on my drums so it is Evans all the way.

    v7 or 86 which do you prefer for a live vocalist, i have a soft voice but i dont want any drums to bleed through

    • @matthewpalmer7420
      @matthewpalmer7420 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      V7 definitely, wouldn’t recommend a condenser microphone like the 86 for softer vocals because of the gain needed.

  • @tearitloosetearitloose4670
    @tearitloosetearitloose4670 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Man the way you hold your mic is very annoying. You should have held the sm86 and v7 with the top directly in front of you mouth...total waste of time what you did.

    • @matthewpalmer7420
      @matthewpalmer7420 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you for your useless yet entertaining feedback (no pun intended). I was consistent in the way I held both microphones and therefore conducted a valid demonstration and an equal comparison of the two microphones. Yes you could get into “they’re both vocal mics so you’d expect the user to speak directly into the top of the capsule”; HOWEVER, I do talk about using these as percussion microphones where that type of microphone positioning is often impossible. And speaking of a waste of time, how about some original content on your channel?

    Any theory as to why 3 feet away from the X1A sounds so much better than a few inches from the SM86 and V7?

    • @matthewpalmer7420
      @matthewpalmer7420 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      There’s a phenomenon called proximity effect which basically means the closer the microphones capsule is to the source, the more receptive it is to lower frequencies. With no high pass filter, these low frequencies can tend to cause the source to sound ‘dull’ or ‘muddy’. In general, large diaphragm condensers are used in applications where they are relatively far away from the source and therefore sound ‘better’ or more ‘optimal’ in that setting.
