How does it look when done? Does it flate?
No flare on the finished socks. I really dislike having a flare at the bind-off so that's why I love the Icelandic Bind-off for Toe-up Socks. It's stretchy and actually looks nice when not being worn. 😁
Love your method of teaching I see everything you do so clearly. I am going to use the needles you are using and try again. ❤
Thank you so much, I'm glad the videos have been helpful! I hope you enjoy the new needles, they're my favorites for small circumference knitting. ^_^
I have yarn, I am starting today. A million thank you’s. You are amazing
One day i thought to do this because i hated turning my work and thought "why dont i just purl from the front"
Haha, why not indeed? It's a fun technique to have in your tool kit, isn't it?
I weaved it!!! I weaved a square!!!! Finally, I can do something with my hand spun!!!! Thank you so much for the video. Love and hugs!!!
Yay! I'm so glad you found the video helpful & that you were able to weave one, too. Congradulations! 🤩🎉
Have you tried not lifting your right index finger from the needle every time you grab the yarn for the stitch it might help you be faster😁
I love that red, it looks so warm and soft. Im in Iowa, good to see a young crocheter
Aw, thank you! It is very very warm & soft, i just love it! That's fun that we're so close, maybe we'll see each other at a fiber event sometime. 😁
❤️
Question! Is there any particular reason you used a crochet hook rather than a latch hook?
I didn't have a latch hook handy, lol. Also, when I took the class (and when I've done this project off-camera) I didn't have nearly the trouble with the crochet hook that I did while filming this so I didn't anticipate any problems. 😅
Lovely ❤
Thank you! I'm glad you enjoyed watching the process. 🥰
Which spinning wheel do you have?
It's called a Custom Classic Spinning Wheel. Unfortunately, it doesn't look like they're being made anymore but i have it on my instagram here: instagram.com/reel/C9qTyRNJhoK/?igsh=MW1sN3JhbmtzZnZzeA==

Let me know in the comments! 😊
Fantastic! Trying to find a bind off that doesn’t flair, okay the Icelandic bind off! Thank you I will try this!!! It gives a really pretty finished look. 🥰🥳🌻
Yay! I hope you like it, it's one of my very favorite bind offs. 😁
Doing a new pattern for a Gilwen Granny Square, and couldn't quite understand how to do the Treble Bobble, but this clarified the stitch so easily for me! Thank you so much for this step-by-step guide ☺
I'm so glad it was helpful! If you ever need other tutorials that I don't have available yet just let me know & I'll be happy to put one together for you. Happy crocheting! ^_^
Do you find that this works even with super wash wool? The ends don’t slide out at all later?
I use this for all kinds of yarn & have never had a problem with it coming undone. If you're using a slippery yarn maybe give yourself a bit longer section of "weaving" it in than you would for a more grippy wool. I use a tail of about 5" (12.5 cm) for superwash, but end up only weaving in about 3" (7.5 cm) as i knit. This is probably more than needed, but i get into a rhythm & stop paying attention. 😅
Fabulous method. I have been looking for a good way to weave in ends as I go. Thanks!
I'm so glad that this helped. Happy knitting! 🧶💕
❤❤❤❤❤
Is there an actual video?
This Saturday I'm starting a make-with-me series for a dishcloth based on this blanket pattern where i'll have tutorials & step by step instructions for this technique. 😁 Make sure your notifications are turned on so you don't miss it. 💕
Fisherman's knot?
Maybe? Tbh, i'm not very familiar with standard knots outside of knitting & crochet. So I only know this as the Magic Knot. 😅
👌👌♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️
👌👌 very nice. You come also for comments ❤❤❤❤❤
That's so satisfying, I love the color!
Thank you! I do, too. I'm so glad to have it back in my stash to use later on. 😁
I have to switch from continental style back to English in order to knit with unspun lol
I thought i was going to have to do that at first but was able to loosen up my tension enough that i was able to stay knitting continental. I don't mind knitting english style, but my tension gets crazy tight at times so that seemed extra unhelpful. 😂
Love seeing this! Real skill and useful as well when you have a hole from your toe in purchased socks ❤
Glad it was helpful!
Thanks for helping me learn a new stitch. Love how well it was explained❤❤
Aw, your so welcome! I'm glad you found it helpful. 🥰
So good to get an update! :)
Aw, thank you! It's nice to be back finally. 😁
I like this bind off , will have to try it . the one I just learned is knit first stitch, yard over for knit stitches backwards yarn over or opposite from a normal yarn over . Then knit the next knit . Yes this is for knit two purl two ribbing. Haven’t tried to see if it works for a knit one by one ribbing yet . Then you will have three stitches on the right needle. Then take the yarn over and bring it over the first stitch then the last stitch on the needle. Then you have one stitch on the right needle and for the purl stitch do a normal yarn over then purl your next stitch and then pull the yarn over the first stitch the last stitch. And repeat this for knits and purls . It really gives a great stretch and looks like a roll over to me .
I haven't tried that bind off yet, it sounds like it would be a nice one, though. I'll have to give it a try, thanks! 💕
I wish you wouldn’t make so many mistakes while showing the video
Hi! I appreciate your feedback, but I leave the mistakes in to show viewers that 1.) everyone makes mistakes. 2.) it's not a big deal to make mistakes. 3.) how to easily fix mistakes when/if you make them. I hope this helps clarify my teaching method. Happy knitting! 💕
OP: *starts purling* Me: oh man you’re still doing traditional purls? I just learned this nifty purl that goes SO QUICKLY, I don’t actually dread purling continental anymore!! Op: *starts doing Norwegian Purl* Me: YEEEAAAAAAAAAAAH
I actually do switch between my standard purls and Norwegian purls from time yo time to prevent muscle & joint fatigue. I'm most comfortable with demoing using my standard purls, though so that's what I use when I'm filming. The Norwegian purls are a nice change, though. 😉
I followed your link from Ravelry for the Apothecary sweater. I bought the pattern, but not the yarn just yet. So still considering whether the Manchelopi is something I can work with.
Wonderful! I do hope you give the yarn a try, I've really been enjoying it & the resulting sweater is just so incredibly cozy!! 💚
I once knitted a long length cardigan for my toddler. It was lace work on the main body and smocked on the bodice area. It took ages to knot but it was so beautiful in a deep salmon pink... probably still my favourite item ive ever knit. I have a grandson now and ive only knit him basic items 🤭 naughty me!
Oh wow! I bet it was gorgeous! It's ok to only make basic items, though, too. You still are spending an awful lot of time making something by hand for your grandson. 💕
It is Icelandic bind-off.
Yes, it is. Good eye! ^_^
I'm knitting my first pair of socks and your videos have been so helpful! After purling the last gsr and begin the first round of the leg (picking up the primary color again) should you slip that first stitch like when working in rows or just knit it right away?
You are so welcome! I'm glad to hear they've been useful for you. ☺️ I always just knit that stitch. You could slip it if you want and it wouldn't be weird, just do whichever you like the look of better.
You do have to pick up the wrap or it shows. ??
Not in garter stitch. The wrap blends in with the other stitches since garter stitch has horizontal bumps on both the front and back. 😉
What needles are these? 😍
Unfortunately they're a discontinued set from Knitpicks. There are other colors in this same line still available, though. I'm actually working on building my fixed circulars stash with the Sunstruck colorway of these same needles: shrsl.com/4l4oc
@@YumiYarnsthey just look so smooth and nice!! Thank you for your insight and information! I will definitely check those out as I mostly just have clover circulars and chiaogoo ones.
@@Koala-Aquatics they are very smooth & nice! They're surprisingly strong for wooden needles, too. I hope you like them, too! 😁
What does it look like when all done?? Close up please -
You should be able to see it in the project photos here: www.yumiyarns.com/product-page/basic-toe-up-adult-socks
@@YumiYarns thank you!!! So lovely ❣️
@@elwiewallin7657you're so welcome! Thank you! 💕
Great video!!
Aw, thank you! I'm so glad you liked it. ^_^
I enjoyed your video. I watch a lot of cross stitch videos glad to see one for knitting 😊
Yay! I'm glad you enjoyed it. I watch a lot of cross stitching videos, too. Who are some of your favorites?
Knitting while your kids happily play! What else is there that can bring such peace and enjoyment? Hubby cooking in kitchen? Yes but let's not get crazy!
Haha, hubby actually helped a wee little bit in the kitchen last night... he seasoned the chicken and put it in the cook pot since he was in the kitchen and i was not at the moment. 😂
Demonstrating with solid color yarn would be way more helpful to a newbie. The tonality of that yarn makes it harder to see for the uninitiated.
That's a very good point, thank you. I'll switch to a yarn that's better to see next time. 💕
Most unusual. Would never have thought 🤔🧐 😮🎉
Thanks! They're really fun to make because it's kind of like magic when they're suddenly socks, lol.
Bonjour y aurait il une version française votre modèle est vraiment très beau. Merci 😊
Thank you! I'm sorry, I don't currently offer it in french, but I can look into having the pattern translated if you're interested. 💕
São piores que as brasileiras falam muito enervante
Beautiful hobby and work
Aw, thank you! 🥰
I crochet simple things ,no I can’t crochet a sweater but I wish I could knit it looks hard to do , I like what your knitting the color and texture of the yarn are beautiful.🫡👍✌️👵🏼
Thank you! 😊 Crochet is really fun, too & you can make gorgeous pieces with just simple stitches. My favorite crochet projects are blankets & stuffed animals. I've seen some really cute crochet sweaters, though. Maybe someday for both of us. 😁
I’m a crocheted and no matter how many times someone explains knitting i won’t understand it lol
Lol, I guess that's why we have different crafting styles. I can do both, but i have plenty of friends who are just one or the other. At least you've found your happy place. 😁
What size are these socks please?
This is the 64 stitch size. ^_^
@@YumiYarns but what size foot does that fit-6, 8, 10?
