The Pastry Battlers - Documentary
Dean Gibson and Jian Yao are two men on a mission: form a team of pastry chefs to represent Australia at the 2013 World Pastry Cup, and finally put Australian pastry on the map.
Despite a shaky start, including several team reshuffles, the team is determined to train as hard as possible to reach the level of excellence needed to make it to the top.
Will they become the well oiled winning machine dreamt by Dean and Jian? Will the team cope with the pressure of training intensively and competing in their already busy lives?

I studied with Anil Rohira at L’Academie du Cuisine. Amazing teacher.
Amazing 👏
July 17 2023 Maryland USA: Justin has a very promissing career. He is so calm in every situation. So very humbling. The set up is amazing in France. The one Chef with the pastry and at the meeting when he said one hour seems he could be very tempermental. Loving this video even though it was four years ago.

Ban the high pitch horn
The chocolate show piece from France was just impossible to beat -- 1:25:36 I felt bad for the team whose show piece ended mostly on the floor -- 1:24:45

Tremendous! We adored the majesty and inspiration of Australian effort
Very poor sound quality. Hard to understand what is said. Only one easy to understand, was the speaker.
nice .
Best premise to win: I‘m just a person who like to makes pastry 👨🏻🍳🧁🍰🎂🥧
You Australians did the best in effort, heart & soul! You have every reason to be proud! tms poet Ohio USA
Is the Australian team from or live in Australia? Just the team manager. Interesting
Not that familiar with the Coupe du Monde de la Pâtisserie, World Pastry Cup. Mostly heard of. The Australian team of 2012. First time seeing these guys. Seen their team leader, face feels familiar, but only in passing from other Pastry Chef videos. Already knew of: 🇪🇸👨🏻🍳Julien Alvarez, from other Pastry Chef videos and Instagram. 🇫🇷👨🏻🍳Philippe Rigollot, MOF. From Kings of Pastry (Documentary 2010), other videos and Instagram. Saw him graduating from the MOF in the doc. 🇫🇷👨🏻🍳Christophe Michalak, only in a photo with Philippe, from many other Pastry Chef videos, like tv competition Qui Sera Le Prochain Grand Pâtissier, and Instagram. th-cam.com/users/Quiseraleprochaingrandp%C3%A2tissier 🇦🇺👨🏻🍳Anil Rohira, seen in other videos. Not as well known but obviously well respected in Australian Pastry.
Great job indonesia.....semangaaattt
This competition has aged Justin 10 years. He looks so tired.
5:50 there is never a girl in the pastry team in France
why is that?
It’s pretty hard to see any females in these teams, because guys generally have more stamina and strength for the physical demands of the more high stress pastry work. In France it is still very male dominated. Usually the female pastry chefs stay at team member level, a few make it to Head Pastry Chef. Some prefer teaching or been Head PC. Or just to open their own Pâtisserie. Not many join competitions. Or they don’t make the cut, like this documentary showed. Sometimes the male team dynamic doesn’t fit with the female’s personality.
There was one in the last Australian team.
The Taiwanese dude is mute man🤐
I am inspired!
This is amazing. I'm inspired.
They shud try new ideas despite old ideas of Singapore...... And did not listen to French 28 years teacher at all....and become work on thier ideas as they won in Singapore...
I am not sure if anyone is still monitoring this channel or not but that was truly amazing. A student and a teacher to qualify to even go to France shows a level of dedication which is unbelievable and to add on another to do ice carving who never had done ice carving before to compete in France for the World. I am floored and I have been baking for 40 years. Not only win a place to compete in World but place 7th I am in awe.
This was awesome. Thank you very much
This competition needs to be in the Olympics!! Maybe winter so the chocolate won't melt?
Nah~ They’re their own special event. It’s doesn’t need to be part of the Sports Olympics.
This takes a lot of skills but Nothing athletic about this
This Competition gave me new Way to Look @ CORONA
