tyler very in 4k (trees) - minneapolis, MN - target center - clancy tour
2024.10.12-- i said i wasn't going to post it but i'm posting it. listen, tyler, if you ever see this, know that i could be a totally normal person around you but have some kind of weird cognitive dissonance between knowing you are a person 5 feet in front of me in real life and connecting that to similar experiences of being 5 feet from another, different person who i don't think is one of the greatest humans of all time. so.............zoom zoom zoom
also you're beautiful so. y'know. gotta feed the clique

I believe Tyler is confident in what he believes. The song ‘Clear,’ I think makes this very clear. Also, I think he believes that most people want to believe what is true, but don’t know how because emotion and experience has associated certain beliefs with that system being right or wrong to them. He is saying to look beyond your feelings. Test it through logic! But he also can relate empathetically to what we are going through so he knows he doesn’t consider himself an alien or better or worse than his fans. But when a person is TOLD what to believe, it feels like an agenda being pushed to win someone into their club, and I think that the metaphor of Dema is Tyler saying, “look, the club is corrupt ya’ll. I admit that. The institutional church has been infiltrated” ( which is very true),” but we have to look BEYOND the church and ask ourselves the hard questions to understand the theology and philosophy, because you shouldn’t judge a belief system by its people and your subjective experiences, as all people are imperfect. You need to put the effort in to understand things at a deeper level.” Also, Ithink Tyler is also saying he loves his fans no matter what. This is the hill he is dying on. Everything he does is to try to connect and build a relationship of trust with his fans. His whole mission is about loving us. In this way he has mastered what Jesus has called us to do. Lead an exemplary life by your convictions, admit your imperfections, be authentic, and love others, and point to Jesus. But he realizes that bluntness has become transactional and meaningless because Christianity means different things to different people. This is why he won’t make a public statement. It has to be a conversation one on one where the person knows first and foremost they are loved above all else. Most people see through the fairness of the church, especially feeling and intuitive types which is his audience. So his job is to help them develop their weaknesses ( thinking through the detailed arguments) to reach their intuition through relating to their feelings. He is brilliant. I didn’t want to become a Christian. I had so many bad associations. But I decided I wanted to know the truth regardless of how it made me feel. So when I asked the hard questions, it took me on a journey because I knocked with an honest heart, and God met me. But it took me 2 years of really trying to pour into it to get over my bad associations and emotional trauma with ‘the church.’ Paul says we should ‘test all things and hold on to what is good’ 1 Thessalonians 5:21 Why would he write this in his letters if the truth was that subjective and he didn’t believe it could be found. Literally, Christianity is the only religion that says, “Hey, try me out. If you continue to seek you WILL find.” What other belief system tells people to do that?

At 3:34 makes sense since tyler did say "Welcome back to French" in overcompensate. Was really confused at the start then made sense now. Props to tyler for learning French.

That’s actually a really good point, I always assumed that he was welcoming someone specifically named French back, but it would make much more sense if he was just telling us that he was learning French. It’s always cool to learn a new language.

i would like to say yes, but there's the issue that i started *following* tours when takeover came around so instead studying footage i spend a lot of time sorting and uploading it -- and a lot of footage i took between shows. so i have something like 6TB of content, sitting here wondering if i should make a documentary or should i get back on task and be studying lights.

and on the second question, i know lame, about 3:30 minutes in, about "band challenges" TJ brings up what was relevant 15 years ago, getting people to pay attention to you and remember you- Well, I want to say, I've played in nearly as many bands as years they've been active and producing music for 25 years now and I ALWAYS say "the hardest thing about being a musician isn't the craft or mastering your instrument or writers block or even interpersonal band dynamics (as people often cite/think) but rather it's ' to get people to actually LISTEN to the music you make' and for years now whenever I am present while someone listens to a song or album i've made I will always sincerely thank them for listening after and I realize from the bevy of confused reactions i've gotten that this must be something not yet known by people who don't create music: it's the HARDEST thing to get people to take their TIME and actually LISTEN to what you make, regardless of how good or bad it is, skill and talent and quality is moot, it's not what gets people to actually pay attention. it doesn't matter (as you hear here, it was a halloween shop these two young geniuses resorted to out of desperation)- you're up against people's time which is arguably more important than money and I just wanted to comment at how much their response to that question resonated with me. If my thoughts seem to inspire or relate to you, or if you're just curious to what a real independent artist sounds like after 25 years of DIY without missing a beat do check out my recent work "The King Crawls" theJSE.bandcamp.com/album/- PS Twenty One Pilots was the best two nights I ever spent at Madison Square Garden, both sold out and it was the most money I spent to be on the floor at a show but it was worth every penny. When I got there I felt old, unaware their core fan-base would be Junior High Kids (at the time, this was for Blurryface) but the second the lights dropped and the music started age didn't matter and it was a 2 hour exercise in ultra animated modern-dance aerobics LOL Best shows ever (saw Clancy too at Barclays... oh and another Blurryface show in Brooklyn too) These two are the real deal and deserve all the accolades and fame and money they get, but I just fear they can keep their morality and sanity after 10 years of this nonstop madness... well, I guess the hiatus could've counted as a "stop" but we know it wasn't a full stop as Tyler is always writing and creating. Anyway again, thanks for posting. I'm sure i'll listen to all these several times, post more comments or continually re-edit this one 😛

As a person with religion myself, I find the culture of suppressing questions and doubts deeply disturbing. It seems like something I specifically see in more conservative evangelical communities. I’m Catholic myself and while there are definitely Catholics who do this, I’ve been really blessed to open minded people in my faith life, and there is a line of thought in catholicism that even allows momentary anger with God when we don’t understand. So from the first time I heard Tyler addressing his doubts and pain it struck me like a bolt from the blue (no pun intended). I’m so glad he uses music to wrestle with his feelings on these things.

I love Implicit Demand for Proof technically being the first song on the first twenty one pilots album. Its a hell of a way to come out of the gate. sometimes a bag of weed is referred to as a bag of sunshine, so there's that. In my experience, there are a lot of places that don't want you around if you ask questions. Especially as a child. I went to several places as a kid trying to find a religious place for myself. One place set up an exorcism because apparently asking rationsal questions at 8 meant I had a demon. No, I just never grew out of the why stage.
