The first concert where I Would Die 4 U, Baby I’m a Star & Purple Rain were recorded live way before overdubs were added! It’s also brilliant that Bobby Z triggered Prince’s Linn LM-1 with the Simmons SDS-V on songs like Purple Rain etc! 💯💯💜💜

I went to see this on the big screen. Back then we all knew it was a B movie but I was pleasantly surprised at how good it was. To have eyes and ears that witnessed the behind the scenes workings of P and Sheila in their early years together would be amazing today.

I first heard this track on a bootleg cassette tape I bought back in 1988. Since then it - this version I mean - has remained my absolute favorite Prince outtake. I’m at the point where the 3rd/4th generation muffled copy is what it should actually sound like. I respect what you did with ‘fixing’ the fake fade out, but damn I miss it. The fade out and then the majestic return of the coda with Boni tearing up is/was part of experiencing the full power of this track. What an absolute banger of a song 💜🕺🏽
