      If you are divers, you will not be disappointed. Even if you're not, it's such a beautiful place. The people are awesome, and the food is amazing. Lots of really cool places to explore like Secret Beach. All the local restaurants we ate at we're all good. Rent a golf cart from the resort and explore the island. You can also book a trip to see the ancient ruines. Say hi to Rayo and the guys for us. Have fun!

    Looks like a great dive shop / hotel. Can you give us a ball park of the cost for a week or ten days? Two or three tank days? Whats the packages look like for cost?

    • @3fingersupdive766
      @3fingersupdive766 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Based on a double occupancy, May 1st - Dec 18th are standard rates, that's when we went. About $215 US per night. We recommend staying in the jungle side if you want quiet at night. Two tank dives run about $90 US and Triple run about $120 US, Boat, Guide, Tanks and weights. They also have a full rental shop and meal plans as well. All the food is amazing! Or, you can wander into town and eat at some of the local spots which was fun too. We never found a bad spot. For triple dive days for 2 and room for 7 days would run about $3200 + tax and food. The meal plans on site are great and local restaurants are pretty inexpensive. Great seafood everywhere! Hope this helps!

      It is one of the giant barges they used to move supplies around the lake. Such as wood, cars, horses etc. They were massive and there are more down there. Slightly to the east of this one there is a smaller one with a plaque in between the two.

      Awesome, thanks for the feedback! South side of the lake. Take the dirt road up to the top, vear to the left. There is what is left of a concrete pad, (looks like a small parking area). From there, head straight down to the water. There is a make shift pallet ramp to enter the water. Swim out about 30° to the right. Drop down about 12-15 feet if you want to see the path to the structures or surface swim to 37' and drop down on the silo. Also, if you head due east from the ovens there are trees down there. Hope that helps. We just got back from Belize, when I find it I'll send you the map. P.S. bring a fresh water barrel for your gear.

    Despite my unpleasant study links, I'm still fascinated ny this location. I need to look up geology researches here...the description that the lake is 60' deeper than before the Newlands Project occurring suggests to me there may be interesting geology features visible along that pre-sunken "shore" surface. Granted, debris and sediment since then may make the underwater lakeside all equally sediment covered.🤷‍♂️

      Finally came across a video like yours!! I recently learned about the history and geology of Soda Lake, I'm tickled to see others recently interested in exploring what's there. There seem to be few underwater videos posted, though there are several references to this being a known local dive target. I would love to share more about your impressions and experience of this dive and any future dives you do there. Please reach out if you do not mind me asking questions.

      @@leohorishny9561 absolutely! We have dove it 4 times now. Any questions you have we would be happy to answer to the best of our ability. We spend most of our time diving Tahoe. We were exploring new spots to dive, mountain lakes etc. when we found this desert lake in Fallon. Google it and found the history of it, contacted the local museum and were told about the buildings. They sent pictures of the locations where the buildings were before the flooding which was very helpful. We were amazed that most was still there!

      @@3fingersupdive766 , thanks! I'm curious if you chose November because it might be safer, that the bacteria and critters that are in the water might be less potent/active? I ask only because I don't know any better. Also, did you do anything to your equipment different post dive because of the water quality, ie alkalinity and chemical makeup? I get the sense reading some of the research papers from Soda Lake that it's quite the brew.😳 I'm not trying to trip you up, sincerely just curious. Did it taste/react with your senses in any way you noticed?🤔
