To determine the force in members HG, HE, and DE of a truss, we use methods such as the method of joints and the method of sections. 1. Method of Joints: The method of joints involves isolating each joint in the truss and applying equilibrium equations to solve for unknown forces. For each joint: Sum of forces in the horizontal (ΣF x=0) and vertical (ΣF y=0) directions must equal zero, since th...

how do you realise that its a right angle with the triangle at 2:01
Are you asking why I use the sine component at 2:20, or are you asking something else? Can you clarify?
@@Vector_Horizonah my bad i meant to find the distance d at around 1:40, the distance between F and H u use sin 30 times 1.5 but how do you know it makes a right triangle because otherwise u can’t do that no?
@thegreentrex6890 It does not form a right-angled triangle. To find the distance between points F and H, observe that the points F, H, and E form a triangle with a 30-degree angle at E. We are also given the distance between points H and E, which is 1.5 m. This means we have two sides and an angle. Let d represent the distance between points F and H. Since we have the hypotenuse (H to E) and the angle (30 degrees), we can use the sine function to find the distance d.
for Fx=0 . Why arent we adding Fab also
If we use the Method of Joints, it becomes necessary to calculate the force in member AB because we analyze each joint individually, and AB might affect the equilibrium of a joint. However, with the Method of Sections, we don't need to find the force in member AB because we cut through specific members of interest (like BC, HC, and HG) and focus only on those. This method isolates a section of the truss and allows us to solve directly for the forces in selected members without considering every single member.
The method of sections is used to solve for the unknown forces within specific members of a truss without solving for them all. The method involves dividing the truss into sections by cutting through the selected members and analyzing the section as a rigid body.
