You did a great job capturing this beautiful layout! Wowsa~!
I just came across this video ... Subscribed!!!
Nice job, Richard. Looks like it was a great session on Al's terrific layout.
Thank you. It's one of those layouts that has to be seen in person to really appreciate the fantastic detail of it.
@@TheGulfwind It is quite incredible. I have seen it and got a chance to informally operate on it last winter. :)
fantastic Richard!
Nice share Richard!
Very nice layout and looks like a fun ops session!
Hi
Thanks for sharing! Lots of action!
Glad you enjoyed it.
Hi
Hi
Love the mini control panels on the upper level. Looks like an awesome layout and a fun op session.
Thanks. Not all of them are active yet. They were designed and Buit by a member who suffered a stroke a couple of years ago and lost all memory of what he did for them.
@@TheGulfwind Oh that's too bad. Sorry to hear that. I'm sure you'll get it figure it out.
Lots of variety and action on that layout. It must be fun and interesting to operate on.
Yes it is a lot of fun to run trains on
that was fun
She was a fine train

Nice layout Richard. Love the red white and blue engines!
Thanks. Running these "Special" trains is fun!
Great ops session. Thanks for sharing. Dave

Thanks for subscribing.!
Thank you for sharing this. I’ve always wanted to see Gainesville in its prime
What brand is the J class made by?
The J is a Broadway Limited Imports Model. Second time the drive axle gear has stripped. Has to go back to BLI again. Otherwise, a good runner.
@@TheGulfwindThank you for your reply it is much appreciated bud. on another note take care and stay safe.
Good session!
Nice video of the Operating Session, I have caught the 1:1 scale 5571 before, nice to see in HO Scale. I've seen them for sale, this is the first time I've seen one operating.
Looks like fun times!
It was. Everything ran well and our dispatcher did a great job.
Great video sir, A+ Nice
Nice Video, and some very nice Loco's
Ty for sharing. Do you know if they allowed eating in the other cars? Or did you have to sit in the table car to enjoy the pizza? Thanks 😊
I believe everyone got the pizza. It was advertised as the Pizza Express.
@@TheGulfwind that's great to know. My twins have been wanting to go on a train and I just learned about this one in Valdosta. They are 10 and love pizza 😆
🙈 Promo`SM
Nice running!

Cool looking layout and love the HighHood, Sub'd up for the ride! -Ken
Thanks for this 👍
Hi
nice collection Richard!
Thanks. Still looking for more.
When I was a small child in the 70s, we'd take those trains from Spartanburg, SC to visit friends in Atlanta, Alabama and Louisiana. I loooooved the Crescent so. I adored the restaurant car and playing cards with my mom in the club car. Those were the days!
My grandparents lived in Laurel Mississippi which the Crescent went through going North to New York in the morning and South to New Orleans in the evening. I don’t know how many Crescents we saw back in the 60s when visiting on vacation. Great times and great memories.
Love those E-8's.
Nice layout!! Where did you get the sign for the facia for the town names etc?? I like that, and need to add some good signs on my layout facia.
The signs were 3D printed and painted by a now deceased club member
@@TheGulfwind Well, they are really neat, Sorry for the loss of your club member!!!! Thanks for the reply!!!! Dave
This is friggin’ awesome. I was born in Gainesville in 1970. In ‘77 I was regularly at the depot in Gainesville watching trains with my dad. I remember the Crescent well and the semaphore signal at the depot. The Crescent always seemed to have an Amtrak car on it. I thought that was so cool. Always wanted one for my Lionel set. The bonus of the old GM 10 SD40 is GREAT. A close personal friend of mine was an engineer for the SCL and loved operating it. Interestingly I now live near Hull.
Sorry that I couldn't make the show this month Rich. Maybe next time.
I got to ride in the 1st Gainesville, Ga Diesel , the GP-40.. My Uncle was the engineer.. He would let me blow the horn at crossings.. I had that down pat !! 2 longs, 1 short, 1 long !!! If I hadn't went in the Army, I would have been a Train Engineer.. instead, I went to the Army Corps of Engineers.. Go figure~~.. LOL..
I grew up in Gainesville, GA.. Our farm house was on the Gainesville Midland RR. I was so fortunate to get to ride the Gainesville Midland w/ my Uncles who were Engineers and Conductors back them. I was young back then.. I'm 70 now. Those were glorious days riding the train !! I'll never forget it !!
Excellent filming!
23:23 ??
At this time I was riding 10 speed bicycle races in New Orleans. I was the only railfan. As we went down Haynes Blvd the southern tracks were parallel. When the crescent passed several riders would let go of the bars and act like they were pulling a whistle cord. When the engineer saw us he would blow his whistle for us we would wave and continue our bicycle race.
That was interesting. The bridge (trestle) is impressive.
Sorry that I missed the actual parade when I was at the show on Saturday. Thanks for capturing it all.
Parade was held on Sunday afternoon.
