Upon a Burning Body- Five Minutes Alone
I've always loved this song, I don't care how much he hated it. This was my fetus song. Thanks dad! <3
I always hated that he shut out the music that made them a success to begin with. I'll bet if he had adapted With Sympathy or Twitch to their industrial sound, I think people would've still enjoyed it. I'm glad Al pulled this one out of the trunk and dusted it off. It still plays so well even with a heavier guitar sound behind it. They could re-recorded those first two albums with this kind of sound and I think it would find a very receptive audience. People are looking for really good music these days. I still remember how crazy people were for Stigmata when it first played in clubs on Long Island all those years ago. Still love this band.
One of my favorite songs ever
Greg, Chris, and Brian made this band special. There's no soul anymore.
Eloy is a beast
Hell yeah, I was there. Bad ass show!
This is still one of my favorite if not my favorite from them. It’s definitely interesting to how he plays it now. I definitely need to go see them play again
Now that's something I thought I would never see
“What did the first toilet….saaaay to the 2nd toilet?… Let’s call our group KISS”😂😂😂 - from the opener of Mr. Bungles live stream
Its just good
People seem to forget that Calculating Infinity and Under the Running Board are what made this band legendary. Even without their other records, which some are arguably better, they’d have legendary status in hardcore
Option Paralysis is actually the first album I think of whenever it comes to Dillinger.
Pretty bad decision playing the first reunion show at a festival. This turned out not good.
Zero energy here. Glad I'm not going now. Anyone want to buy two tickets for NY Friday? 😂
Uhhhh... where is Dimitri?
The shit zoo was the best joke by far.
for this to be the perfect band, we just have to add Mike Patton
What happen with Greg Puciato?? 🤨🤔
google it
I really liked this band a lot back then … but it's 2024 and you still break your guitars and shit … it not even looks rock 'n roll more like: I'm so used to break so f*** it … pretty sad performance though …
3:06 Best drop ever in E standard
Why so slow?
I'm a huge fan of these guys, and I'm going to see them on the 23rd, because it'll be an honor to get to see them with their OG vocalist doing the Calculating stuff, BUT... ...this performance feels rough at best. Dimitri's vocals feel really flat and unenergetic, and it seems like he's just shouting more than he's actually screaming. Which is weird to me, because he sounded WAY better just doing those couple of songs at the farewell show in 2017, and I imagine he didn't practice nearly as much for that short set compared to what I imagine he's had to do to prepare for this mini tour. I know it's been years since then already, but he went a lot longer between leaving Dillinger and the farewell shows than those shows to now. I'm hoping this show was just him shaking the rust off, and I'm excited to see something close to the band's OG form no matter what (and tbh, a Dillinger show at all...after 7 years since the Terminal show I went to, it's a blessing to have one more chance to see them).
Ben just refuses to understand that Greg is what truly made this band
And Greg stans demanding Greg back refuse to understand that Ben wanted to celebrate 25 years of their groundbreaking album with the original vocalist. The audacity! No? Well stage shows aside, Greg stans certainly refuse to understand that despite all the stuff they made with Greg, Calculating Infinity still clears everything they made with Greg. No? Its legacy>
Lol definitely not, Ben's what made the band, Greg wasnt even there for Calculating Infinity
Lol, no. Just no. I like greg. But this is Ben and Liam's band.
L take
Is Ben there? Billy?
i regret paying money to see them in chicago now, this is just sad.
Seen them once with Dimitri in 1999 and they were amazing also saw Greg with them multiple times over the years and they were amazing. Never a bad show the always brought it. Only a couple bands that opened for them back in the day that were able to keep up with them Mastadon and Darkest Hour to me were the only bands that didn’t get stomped by DEP live…
I was near the barricade on the right. dmitri took a parasol from someone in the crowd near the beginning of this and was singing while holding it and stomping around. video does no justice. it was fun as hell. and he was intense af throughout the whole performance.
Dimitri what is going on with your vocals man? Hopefully this was just a once-off blunder. I know he is a million times better than this. Hes the king of the banshee scream
Trash.
It's kinda cool they're doing this, but Dimitri simply is not on the same level as Greg as a vocalist or performer.
we dont need them, we need Mike Patton
Sorry but I don't need Mike if I have Greg, that's the truth@@alexandrebyte
Dmitri songs were always far superior to Greg songs.
Hahahha, no.
@@northtimo666 Hahaha, yes
@@Sevensentai6918Hahaha no, and u know it. Any song in Option Paralysis outclass those that you're talking about, although I like first works, it's a fact that after Miss Machine things were way better.
I’m sorry but these vocals sound awful
Let’s all judge a guy’s first performance in 8 years from a one-off which itself happened 16 years after this album came out
Yea cause god forbid we have a negative opinion in today's society. Everything needs to be positive. No negative thoughts cause somebody's feelings might get hurt. Dimitri's performance was boring and he just looked like he had no energy. Hopefully he can do better in the future. Watching his performance in 2017 he was solid but this is not.
This music wasn't meant for a big stage
You are out of your fucking mind with this comment
@@sacredxgeometry this may be true, but allow me to explain: I don't mean this in a bad way, just that when this album was written DEP were very much still an underground band. This is a visceral, and personal work of art, not at all akin to stadium or festival rock. This was true punk rock, not meant for the masses and the club shows they did in support reflected the energy and intensity of the record. Personal, visceral live shows with no regard for the mainstream. DEP grew and evolved over the years and towards the end of their career, they most certainly leaned into a bigger, arena-like sound and it made their appearances at big festivals feel much more natural and understandable. Now granted, it is unfair to judge based on a poor phone video, and of course this is just speculation, but I think one of the reasons this video is so divisive among fans, is because these songs just don't translate well to a festival/stadium sound. I think the smaller shows will be received more favorably.
@@sacredxgeometry He is right. This music is too chaotic and and all over the place to be put on a bigger stage. This kind of stuff needs intimate feeling and chaos of it.
I do agree. However seeing dillinger at arctangent 2015, which is a similar size stage to this and TDEP were headlining.... that show made me a lifelong fan! Greg was on form and the crowd was electric @northtimo666
@@bottlemanic i saw em on a big stage and a small as well. Small was the best way to experience the chaos.
It’s odd because Dimitri sounded great when he did under thee running board at the final shows in 2017
43% energy in that vocal performance. Oof.
Not a reunion without Chris if we’re being honest
Nah Billy is cooler
@@cc3230 said no one ever
Ben hates his guts tho
I love Chris, but I don't miss him while having Billy on drums, that's the truth.
Can’t wait I saw there last 2 shows in NYC before they retired. I got tickets to 2 outta the 3 upcoming shows in Ny. I’m fucking pumped 🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼
I'll be at the one on the 21st in brooklyn w carbomb. Fuck yes
Flying in for the 23rd lmao
Flying in for the 22nd!
Wow 😂 For a band I have loved and seen multiple times throughout the years, who I also rated as one of the best live bands I’ve seen, this is just really sad and kinda lame 🤷♂️
W... wow... That was incredibly bad
Ben is such a poser
Why tho
Since the announcement, that Dimitri is performing, 99% of the fanbase were bashing Greg. Saying how much he sux and how much better Dimitri is. Now it's the complete opposite 🤣 DEP fans r just pathetic
Eh it seemed like it was mostly the old heads saying that. Every time someone brought up Dimitri bringing the real intensity it felt like an "okay boomer" moment to me. I think Ben really set Dimitri up for failure with the hired gun interview. Dimitri could sound amazing and this would still be getting criticized because they're two different front men stage presence wise. Still going to support the boys, but I'm expecting nothing to top the adrenaline rush I got at the couple of nights I was at Terminal 5.....and that's okay.
@ph-fi7qo Yeah that's right
The band is obviously great but this shows why they went on to change the vocalist early in their career.
That’s nice but the reality is Dimitri himself chose to leave the band. That wasn’t Ben’s decision. They still wouldn’t have gotten where they did with Dimitri? Sure that’s also nice but barring the fact it was Dimitri’s decision to leave, so it took him 20+ years and no touring to not sound like he did in 2017 and other times he did guest spots with TDEP (he sounded great). But hey…
@@Sevensentai6918 Yeah, but Ben himself has said on multiple occassions that Greg has made his music better. So the change would come sooner or later.
find another vocalist please dimitri stage performance sucks, his singing also
They should get that guy from Better Lovers
@@ObeseChess He has promise and could to justice to Greg era songs for sure.
I expect this performance from a no-name local band on a Tuesday night...
no bro ben climbed on a speaker they’re crazy contractors
I would love to see where local no name bands where you live because they aren't even close to this quality in Chicago.
Where’s the Dimitri?
I saw Greg on his solo tour and he killed it. This doesnt even come close.
Good for you 😴
Right
Wow, so disappointing!
Dimitri was a bit underwhelming but this was fucking beautiful.
underwhelming is a nice way to describe it yes
Vocals are fkn awful. This band is just obnoxious noise without good vox.
Oof
