Three Minutes with Patty Larkin 1994
Interview by Tim Van Schmidt
In 1994, Patty Larkin's newest album, "Angels Running", was getting increased airplay and she had recently successfully toured with three other acoustic singer-songwriters, Cheryl Wheeler, John Gorka and Cliff Eberhardt. Here, Larkin discusses how "folk" music was then enjoying a resurgence, how she used humor as an effective element in her live shows and the appreciation she had for her audience.

MY WIFE AND I WERE THERE.... what a legend he is! he is truly one of the greatest bluesmen ever....
A fabulous concert. IMHO, the BEST venue for music in Colorado. Thanks for posting this video!
From the supposedly "live with no gimmicks" Let It Be album, this was actually recorded in January 1970, exactly one year later, with LOTS of overdubs and an orchestration. John Lennon absent. But you all probably know this already.
Erm, What The Squidma?
Mucha calidad !!!!!!!
gorgeous
Loshay ... Kaka😍
Its the sort of music played when the bbc annoucer would say and THATS IT FOR TONIGHT ,HERE ON ONE THANKS FOR YOUR C OMPANY AND WE,LL LEAVE WITH SOME MUSIC , GOOD NIGHT
His originality and character both in his playing and singing has always been an inspiration and always be. I need Jimmie's tone in a regular basis.
Одна из культовых песен Битлз ❤
Thanks for the video. I saw him in Parker, CO the night before.
Jimmie’ s tone is better than ever, and he had like 3 heart attacks and Cancer. May he always be here
Still AMAZING in 2024
Calvin Newborn so under rated. Tip of the hat. Absolutely love it. Beautiful.
Did he play this too? Need to hear that! I first heard this tune played by the North Texas One OClock Lab Band way back. Slayed me. Have heard this live in Austin at C-Boys with Mike Flannigan smoking it on B-3. Have Mercy!

Vintage John Lennon vocals.
Wow I wonder how Stevie would be playing this now
my favorite songwritter woman - and i am not américain but French ! i miss so her dead many time ago !
If you are digging this, check out two of Jimmie's compadres & contemporaries...Denny Freeman & Derek O'Brian. RIP Denny.
Sounds like a nod to fellow Texan Doug Sahm. Ronnie Weber on bass
DFW
superb!
Always tasteful, always a Blues Man.
Absolutely Beautiful!!
A true bluesman! Sounds so good!
I've always thought Jimmie was a better player than his brother. Sure Stevie had the flash and the volume but he didn't have half the content that Jimmie has in his playing.
Yep
Stevie, RIP, would certainly agree. He idolized his big brother.
One of my fave players. Get it, brother!
Excellent, loving rendition of one of his brother's songs.
It’s actually a Larry Davis song and Stevie’s version is based on Fenton Robinson’a version.
Thats not exactly whats going on. Larry Davis wrote this song, Jimi learned it via Roomfull of Blues in this similar style while Stevie made it to fit his style in another version. No one ever gives the writers credit even after Stevie bringing Larry on stage to play his song for stevie.
Stevie also made sure Larry got his money before his management got theirs.
@@cozmowiz5593 Roomful got the arrangement from Fenton Robinson’s version of Texas Flood off of his 1974 album Somebody Loan Me A Dime. Roomful copied Fenton Robinson’s arrangement on their debut self titled album in 1977. So pretty sure this is Fenton Robinson’s arrangement of Texas Flood that everyone is copping.
@@agohman Oh I have no doubt. I think my point was Jimi is not playing stevies song rather he is playing a song they each played. Back in 81 I used to go to Lupos to listen to Duke do it with Roomfull. Back when Sugar Ray Sounded just like Fenton. 25 years ago a radio station made the same mistake giving credit to SRV for a song they said on air he wrote. They got complaints for almost an entire week. Pretty soon the his story books will list Europeans as the inventors of American Blues. Eliminating those wo gave it to you will never be known
Side A and Side B in the same video
Put the entire Singles please
Going to see how in Monterey this Saturday. Met him Santa Cruz 2012 meet and greet.A very nice person.
So good like Steve but differente and the most important: what a great horn session. Great tks
Why listen to this when you could listen to the real deal?
It's called Texas blues music and it doesn't get more real than this.
Using your logic, why listen to SRV when you could listen to Howling Wolf? This was the real deal. Bear in mind Jimmie is 73 here so it won't have the "youthful exuberance" that Stevie played it with 34 years ago.
What's the "real deal"?
I guess you are talking about Larry Davis who recorded the original version in 1958 with Fenton Robinson on lead guitar. Yes, that sure is a killer. But Davis passed away in 1994 so we can‘t go see him anymore. I think both Vaughan brothers played and still play a wonderful rendition of this classic blues title. I love JVs version.
You understand even SRV's version was a cover, right?
Hey, J.V. hittin' some of them jazzy 4 part chords!! He can really make these slow tempos talk
Jimmie is one of the greatest of the roots rock/blues players left, a link to the 78 RPM era recording artists he saw and met in the 60's.
absolutely true 😊
Thank you so much for posting these ❤
Excellent show! Jimmy, like his brother was, is a national treasure.
Ghamheeer and bahut marma sparshi gaayan…

Awesome! Many thanks!
These guys are still big enough to play red rocks. Is it the same band.Someone put a bunch of concert footage from red rocks,it says 2008. Great footage.
❤❤❤ SALUDOS DESDE H MATAMOROS TAMAULIPAS MEXICO ❤❤❤
These are great. It's a nice walk around the park
Sunny Adé (the King of Jujú Music👑)aLways has kept his music (lyrics), away from politics. Rather, he has chosen to continually emphasize spreading his messages of Joy, Peace and Love to his audiences across all the continents.. Sunny Adé👑, is quite the Consummate Entertainer.
Wow! 🥰
Gram was very smart, he pulled back on the drugs and alcohol much earlier than his band mates in CSN. Sadly David has died but he did have some great years of sobriety, Stephen's stroke damaged his ability to use his tongue properly and the damage to his hearing leaves him sounding well, less then his fans like to see.
Help don’t hinder
Yes, we sure could use a change.
What a joke 🎉🎉🎉🎉
This is a good reminder of how one person actions can make an impact. Hopefully for the good of all.
