BUILT-IN CABINETRY INSTALLATION
Installing built in office cabinetry in this final video of the series.
We attempted to cover the various aspects of the installation process however a couple segments of video didn't take so were making do with the video that we have.
In this particular video you can see our technique for installing these extra large upper cabinets using a temporary platform set up.
Once the uppers were installed and secured to the wall we tackled installation of the header and crown molding(one of the segments we don't have much video of) We did, however, cover the fabrication aspect in a previous video.
With the upper cabinetry completed we turned our attention to templating the desktop (another segment of video we do not have)
And that was the end of day one of the installation. Day two begins with the installation of the base cabinets. After the base cabinets are installed we moved on to installing the large T-shaped desk top. Everything worked out almost exactly as I had planned, however, the desktop was much heavier than I had anticipated. When we fabricated the desktop, which can be seen in a previous video, it was never moved from that location. We performed the fabrication, sanding and finishing all in the same location in the shop. If I had to do it over again I would do it the same way again. Joining the seams in the shop gave us a better finished product rather than installing individual sections.
With the desktop installed it was just a matter of taking care of the final details and cleanup.
We hope you've enjoyed this series and have found the info useful.

Installing Cabinetry Hardware We have reached the point of this project where we have pulled the cabinets out of the paint room and we're ready to install hardware in preparation for installation. In this video we are installing soft close door hinges and doors, soft close drawer slides and drawers as well as knobs and handles. We wanted to include these processes in this series as they are, es...
BUILT IN CABINETRY PAINT
มุมมอง 6109 หลายเดือนก่อน
We have reached the paint stage of this cabinetry project. In previous videos we have already covered equipment and products, paint prep, primer and now were talking about spraying paint. One thing we haven't really talked about is the fact that we finish 99% of our projects in our shop and then install the finished product. We find this process is economical, we can control the setting in our ...
Built In Cabinetry - Spraying Primer
มุมมอง 8729 หลายเดือนก่อน
We're talking primer in our latest video in our docuseries covering the different aspects and processes of completing a large built project. For nearly all of our projects we use Zinsser Bulls Eye 123 Primer for all surfaces. A couple of the primary features I like are the adhesion and stain blocking qualities. After the primer coat is dry we will sand all surfaces, clean and prep all surfaces ...
Built In Cabinetry - Paint Set Up

As we continue on with our docuseries covering the various aspects and processes that go into completing a large builtin project we wanted to take a moment to discuss our paint set up. In this video we discuss our paint sprayer, and product like out preferred primer, paint, clear coat, etc. Oddly enough, as a carpenter, one of the most common questions I get asked is about paint, our spray setu...
CABINETRY PAINT PREP & STAGING
มุมมอง 4779 หลายเดือนก่อน
With the fabrication of this large builtin complete we are ready to prep for paint. Prepping for paint includes staging all of our cabinets and cabinet parts in the paint room and cleaning everything so that everything is dust free. The key to a good paint finish is the prep work. Taking the time to properly prepare your cabinets will save time and headache on down the line. Perhaps a boring vi...

Fabricating a large 'T' shaped desk top for a built-in office project. Our latest video in the series documenting the various steps involved in completing a large built-in cabinetry project takes you through the fabrication of the butcher block desk top. This was a bit of a daunting task. I have built this particular configuration in the past and I just cut and prepared 3 separate pieces and in...
CABINETRY CROWN MOLDING
มุมมอง 49010 หลายเดือนก่อน
Adding crown molding to a set of cabinetry. In this particular video we're fabricating a 3-piece crown molding to finish off this project. We will often use a similar technique whether it's the look we want or we need the added height. For this particular project we have 11' ceilings so, we have built our cabinetry 10' tall and this built up crown will fill the 1' space between the cabinets and...

I need this so much
Beautiful work!!!!!
Could I possibly purchase your plans for that build?
I’m sorry but I don’t have plans available for this build.
Do you have to thin the paint and primer at all with sprayer and tips you use?
No, we do not.
Thanks for explaining this.
Great video!! Thank you!
Came out great! Kept the top band off until install in case you had to do some scribing to the ceiling.
Thanks,I'll be using this technique soon
Great video, appreciate all the info. What do you use the fflp tip for?
Thanks, I appreciate the feedback. FFLP stands for Fine Finish Low Pressure. Benefits include: using less product(low pressure = less overspray), increased control, generally get fewer runs and drips with the fflp tip, and a finer, higher quality finish.
Or you could just buy some crown stops from dewalt and not have those clamps in your way 😂
I actually have the crown stops…didn’t have them with me that day.
What size is this lumber?
In this video we were joining a piece 3/4”x1-1/2” to a piece 3/4”x2”
Thanks for detailed video. Always nice to see these safety featherboards
Interesting what you say about glue surface but isn't the point of the profile to add more glue surface? I get that you do not want to introduce hydraulic blocking, but I think I would brush on a thin coat. I bought a miter lock bit and set up gauge some time ago, but have not attempted yet. Thanks for the video.
I think the primary benefit to using the lock miter profile is to aid in alignment. Experience has taught me that if you get too much glue in the groove you won’t be able to get the joint tight and nobody wants that.
Thank you. I found it very useful
About to build something similar to this... was wondering how much you charged for this build? Was wondering what I should charge The customer
Thanks for reaching out. I messaged you.
This gives me a little more confidence to build my own! I've built a few things, but never anything with those curves! Thanks a bunch!
Good luck with your project!
@@CarpentryPlus Thank you, and also you did a fantastic job. One of the prettiest hood vent covers I've seen!
What clips do you use to secure it under into the wood??
We just used the standard clips that came with the sink. Not sure what they’re called. We installed threaded inserts and bolted the bracket/clip into the e inserts clamping the sink to the top.
This is a killer, just awesome video
Thanks for the feedback!
Thanks!
Thank you!
What model is your router ? I like that it has the guide ring above the blade. Makes this specific type of cut so much easier . The other routers I’m seeing at Home Depot use a guide bar system. Not sure if it would work with this sort of template ?
I realized the bit itself has the guide ball bearing! All good.
How did you make the template ?
Pocket screwed the plywood pieces together.
Great video! Why the multiple layers for the curved part? Were you aiming for a specific thickness?
Thanks. I usually use 3/4” plywood for our cabinetry. The 1/4” ply was easier to bend so we layered it to get the 3/4” thickness
i can't find this type of hinge online, what is this called?
Concealed cabinet hinge.
@@CarpentryPlusmust be a specific type for face frames? I can only find Klug ones and they are £££
@@_OhAbode try looking for Grass or Blum hinges. There are also countless generic knockoffs on amazon.com
Just absolutely perfect video and powerful explanation of details. Keep up the Great Work!!!
Thank you!
Thanks👍
Thank you!
This is what I do, and it is definitely the most efficient way.
How did you create the hard template? Did you use pocket hole screws to join the plywood pieces? Thanks!
Yeah we joined the pieces with pocket hole joinery.
Just want i was looking for. Great job in thanks for sharing.
Thanks for the feedback. Good luck with your project!
Amazing!! Wow! How much can this project cost?
Thanks! For serious inquiries we recommend visiting our website and filling out an estimate request.
The Jig is an L shaped board. Got it.
Appreciate the video brother! I'm in the same boat. I have a mantel to build for a client and can't find anything suitable from any of my vendors to meet our size requirements. Thanks again!
Appreciate the feedback. Good luck on your mantel build!
This is the perfect template for how to make a great how-to video.
Thanks for the feedback.
Man how’d you hook up the vent pipe?
We hooked it up from the outside.
Yup. This is what we are after. Thank you so much! Straight-forward solution.
Glad you found it useful!!
Best one. Thank you
Appreciate the feedback!!
Wow, looks beautiful. Good job.
Would this work with a 1/2” flush cut router bit instead of 3/4?
Yeah should work fine. I used 3/4” for this project because it matched up with the sink radius really well.
Man thats to much..
Thank you very much !
No problem!
As others have said, this is by far the best video on this topic. Covers the most important points to know to get it done with a professional finish. Many thanks for this video.
Thanks, I appreciate the feedback!
Nice video! Couple questions: What size of biscuits? What is the width of your stile and rails? Best place to purchase the “ratchet strap clamps”? I just built cabinets for our kitchen and I did the typical mortise and tenon/ tongue and grove. They came out great, but I felt like my biscuit cutter was looking at me the entire time😂 I think this looks a little easier! Definitely cut down on the router set up to be sure your faces are perfectly flush.
Thanks, I appreciate the feedback. I think they were #20 biscuits. My rails and stiles were 2-1/4”. I bought the strap at Menards, it’s made by Bessey.
how did you make the hard template? You get the most important step.
Great job. I enjoyed watching a master craftsman do his jod with pride
th-cam.com/video/_ZGg_DvzDYQ/w-d-xo.html
Great build! God bless!
How much weight do you think these shelves would be rated for (looks like you put 3 lag screws into the stud for each shelf)?
Probably around 50lbs
Great job! God bless!
Thank you!
How do you get the radius of the sink corners to match the radius of the corners of the hole in the counter top?
In this instance the radius of the router bit was a close match to the sink corners.
I worked at a custom cabinet plant and we used 3/8 bending luan to make our curved wood hood tops.
I e never used any bending plywood but I may ask my supplier about it if I ever build another one.
I see half a cardboard drum on my future
I’d say that would work!
