@@QuasorMusic in this example, only two from Metropolix - one from Ornament and Crime and one is just the root note gated by Pam’s. Apologies - I should’ve been more specific in my comments - I’ve been trying to use Metropolix as the main driver of the vibe/theme, with additional voices in support.However, I have used four voices thru metropolix in the past - by splitting the gate/VOCT info into two different paths and processing the audio out of the receiving voices with different effects - eg, one into clouds, another into FX aid to get very different results. OR....I have a Mutable Branches that has two channels of Boolean Gate which provides a calculated option to go into two different paths! 👍 Options are limited only by our imagination!

Only because I haven't touched my rig yet since I recorded it!!!! hehehe! Here goes - Metropolix: Scale was C Dorian, pitches 1-8 were C, Eflat, G, Bflat, C, F, G, Bflat. Pulse counts were (left to right) 8/4/1/1/2/2/2/1. For order, Track 1 was set to "Pendulum", Track 2 was set to "Ping Pong". I had the "skip" function turned on for pitch 4,5,and 7. What made it behave in such a unique way was that I didn't clock it with Pams, I used Quadrax in a pulse mode with a basic doepfer LFO connected to the trigger input to make some off-tempo movement. This sped up/slowed down the sequence very briefly for each cycle, making the sequence even more random. I drove the MAVIS off of track 1 (bass tone), and Doepfer A111-6 off of Track 2 (high pitch). Ornament and Crime: Rings was being driven by Quantermain on Ornament and Crime, scale was Pentatonic Minor with all five notes selected, triggered by Pams with an Rskip value of 60%, so it would skip a tone more often than it would strike. No modulation at all (other than one basic LFO driving the channel in Quadrax that was driving Metropolix), if you can believe it. I would've started doing that next, but once I heard it play out as is, I had to record it. The three sounds just fell together so nicely. End of chain reverb is Valhalla Supermassive in Logic. Yikes - that was a lot, but fun to document! Its crazy thinking about all of the moving parts for such a simple patch - really puts perspective on things! I wouldn't have realized it if you hadn't asked about it. Thanks for asking! This modular stuff is some CRAZY SHIT! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Thank you! Sources are Rings, Plaits, Doepfer A111-6. Rings has the slapback delay on it (from Nautilus), Plaits is in the background running through Clouds - kind of buried in the mix - for a little "texture", and the Doepfer A111-6 has the slow opening/closing envelope with a Mid-Hall reverb from FXAid. Everything is controlled by Ornament and Crime/Quantermain, using a simple Doepfer Quad LFO for CV input to the uO_c. Recording is through Logic, with compression and a bit of Valhalla Reverb across everything.😃👍

Thanks! I'm going to try to use the 7U case to be more selective and try to work with a smaller amount of modules. However, I will still have the larger rack in play also. We'll see...

I’m trying to decide which one to keep and which one goes in the other rack….i’ll probably keep the Hermod once I get over the learning curve. Thanks!

@scienceroommusic I've never touched a Metroplix but I enjoyed my Hermod, with SOME reservations. I switched to Hapax in the end.

@@Lk747CC thanks Lauren! So, the big reverb is FX Aid. I freaking love it so much that I bought a 1U version of it for my new 7U performance rack 😈 I haven’t really decoded the Morphagene yet. The few times I’ve patched with it so far, I’ve used snippets that I sampled of various things pianos, strings, etc. This time I used a snippet from what rings is producing via Gamut Repetitor. Then, the secret sauce is splitting the signal coming out of Morphagene and sending stereo to FXAid, and a separate stereo signal to Clouds, modulating the freeze function. That’s pretty much the whole process for this one, more or less. Morphagene is cryptic, I think I’d prefer to have the new Qubit tape looper module (can’t remember the name off hand), but it’s pricey. Perhaps it will come down in a few months. In the meantime, like so many of my modules I really need to go a bit deeper and get to their true depth!

@ you got it!! Hooray!! You will love the new case. I’m going to check out this FX Aid I just love that reverb. Nice find! Ah nice way to use the Morphagene it really fit in nicely to this piece I couldn’t even detect it. Usually I can hear a Morphagene right away. Nicely done. Well if I discover anything worth sharing on my deep dive I’ll let you know. It’s the Stardust… I thought I saw a bunch of reviews of that pop up. I wondered what that was.

That’s the one 😃 FX Aid - there’s a few different versions of it but I went for the 4HP one (before I bought the 1U one! ) - it does what I want from it - I didn’t see the need for additional connectivity. You can get it from Analogue Haven in L.A. - Perfect Circuit does not sell them….

@ thanks for introducing me to analogue haven. Did not know they existed, awesome. And this is a stereo module too which is great because every module in my case is stereo. Hmm I did leave room on either end for this reason and the Morphagene I’m guessing as I dig in will need it’s own fx module so this is a number one candidate!! Love it.

​@@Lk747CC For the price this module is probably one of the best things in my rack. It's only 4HP, it has KILLER reverbs in it, and you can upload different configurations to put all your favorite patches up front in the presets. I had to look it up, but the setting I am using on this patch is called "Reverb Hall Mid". 👍 I've only used Analogue Haven twice, but each time they've been great. They ship quickly and communicate really well. Something else I wanted to mention based on your first comment - there's a random freeze happening thru Clouds - as I'm sure you know, that effect sounds very much like a long-tailed reverb, but if you listen carefully you can tell the difference. 😉 The "plucks" from Rings are noticeably softer-edged thru Clouds too - I expect that is due to Clouds' low sample rate, which in this case helps you be able to hear the difference between what is sent to FX Aid and what is sent to Clouds. Don't you love all this nerdy stuff?!?! This is why we do modular, I guess 😁

Metropolix is running both tracks 1 and 2 - Track 2 is visible, as it runs a sequence from Rings with some ratcheting. Track 1 is running the Doepfer Miniature Synthesizer Voice A-111-6, with different ratcheting, and it's on-board filter being modulated by either Quadrax or a simple Doepfer Quad LFO thru Triplatt for attenuation - I use these two options most often for modulation - sorry I can't remember which one I used in this instance. Of course, you can also hear a kick drum on the quarter note from Drumbrute, and the root note quarter note rhythm is from Mother32 (via the M32 on-board sequencer). Everything clocked by Pam's. Thanks Ondrej! The Metropolix has been inspiring lately for some freaky bass lines, and as I mention to @Probbie below, the A-111-6 Doepfer module has been getting a workout in my rack lately for that purpose! Glad you like it!
