VFX artist here. I would like to have a humble disagreement with you here .I believe, stock footage industry will be the first one to be impacted by SORA. Visual effects needs granular control over the generated image . The clients are used to pixel direct each shot . Right now there are not much control over these generated images and its almost like rolling a dice.

I have news for wedding photographer. in 2 years there will be tiny silent drones that will fly and shoot everything and after neural net "retouching" people will get 4k superb video quality. Videography and photography living its last 5-10 years tops. But dont be sad course same goes for 90% of human jobs and till 2040 99% of humans will lose their jobs

As someone who has used a prototype twice as well as hands on at demos, this is geared towards solo ops and small crew. When I compared it side by side to the Venice 2, it was slightly magenta, but was easily corrected in camera and looked identical. It may not be the exact same sensor but is almost indistinguishable to the V1/2. As for Open Gate: 4:3 isn't Open Gate on this sized sensor, but could possibly be in 6k/5.8k or s35 crop, that is still TBD (depends on processing and mostly the limit of the VPG400 CFX cards. I'm also sure Sony kept the reigns on certain features to keep the V2 relevant. People need to remember that this isn't a Venice 2 replacement, but another tool in the same family. Even when the Venice 1 came out, it had limited features and was followed by 3 firmware updates in 9 months (Sept. 2018, Feb. 2019, June 2019). I think a lot of issues will be solved within the first year as is the case with new cameras. Even 3rd party manufacturers have a workaround for the crappy Sony loupe already and the camera hasn't shipped yet.

I think you are misinterpreting that tweet you are referencing. If Sony were adding open gate recording to the Burano it would be in a 3:2 aspect ratio not 4:3 Also 4:3 is mostly used for filming with 2x anamorphic lenses. Most of which only cover super 35. Sony is most likely going to add a s35 4:3 mode to the camera not open gate unfortunately. Also this doesn't really have to do with the overall point, but you aren't using the term "flange" correctly. E Mount is not a "Flange System" it's a mount that has a small flange depth. as opposed to PL which has a deeper flange depth. Flange Depth is the distance between the mount and the sensor.

There will not be an Open Gate on this camera. Speaking with Sony this week at the AFC Micro Salon in Paris, the part of the sensor that is needed for open gate is not calibrated rendering it inexploitable, meaning that a software update would not be able to provide open gate unless the camera is sent back to the factory - which will obviously never happen.

Very valuable video. I tested the BURANO at a hands-on. I completely agree with you. It had everything I missed with the Fx6. However it is still a lot more heavy. No issue if you shoot on a tripod. But run and gun without support will make your back hurt a lot :D
