Banjo-Kazooie Re-Jiggyed - Spiral Mountain

What if Banjo-Kazooie was remade from the ground up today?
Based on the work of Toys For Bob's "Spyro Reignited Trilogy" and "Crash 4 : It's About Time", I explored the idea of rebuilding from scratch the tutorial level of the game, Spiral Mountain, in Unreal Engine 5, within 3 months.
My goal for this project was to take the level from the first game as a guideline and recreate it, picking some ideas that were used in all three games and use the art style of Toys For Bob as an Art Bible.
While using previously known techniques, I took the opportunity to learn how to create a variety of plants for this project and meshes for landscape purposes.
I had the immense privilege to be allowed to use the song "Spiral Mountain" from Grant Kirkhope's (the original composer of Banjo-Kazooie) album of the same name, as well the logo of the album made by Del Northern, who made the cover. I can't thank them enough for giving me this chance.
For the sky, I was helped by "So Stylized", the creator of the "Dynamic Sky and Weather" pack on the Unreal Engine Marketplace. The water is from the same creator and the VFX are also from the Marketplace

Amigo! Que belleza de remake de Spiral Mountain
Es perfecto ❤️
Wow this is absolutely fantastic! What a beautiful imagination of spiral mountain! Plans for any more levels?
Thanks! It means a lot, especially since I've been watching your stuff for a while. As much as I want to create more levels, it required a lot of work since I was alone. For the time being, I don't plan on working on more stuff regarding Banjo-Kazooie. As much as I like the bear and bird, I wouldn't want my stuff to be exclusively about them, especially for an environment artist portfolio. Doesn't mean I won't come back to that IP however! Just not for now.
@@AxLessard That's very kind! Totally understand, can't imagine how many hours you put into this environment & video, absolutely epic. Subscribed and looking forward to seeing more of your work! Best of luck..
@@projectdreamstudio Thanks dude! Yeah It took me 3 months (600h total) to shape this thing up from start to finish. It was quite a challenge :P
@@projectdreamstudio Thank you for your kind words and the subscribe! :)
Is this gonna be a playable game
Sadly no. I was alone during the whole project and as much as I wish I would work on creating a remake, it would require a lot more people.
@AxLessard not to mention the lawsuits if you did make it playable 😂
@@Brentonius_III YEAH, I thought I said it in my response but I forgot. Big factor too! 😅
looks amazing good job
Thank you for your kind words! :)
@@AxLessard you re welcome
This looks nothing like Banjo Kazooie. The art style is total off and you have added tons of trees etc completely changed the looks. It looks more like a jungle now. Sorry but that's a horrible job. It looks awful.
Thank you for your input.
how dare you? this guy did a beautiful job with the remaster!
My god this brings back memories. My body and my wallet is ready.
I love this so much !!! How did you make the tree's and stuff? I'm so early on in my Uni studies that I barely know anything yet about Unreal engine 5
oh I looked at your art station too, and I love the fairy village you made, would love to see more of that maybe even a video 😄
@@shuggythebuggy7595 Thank you for your kind words! It might be a little bit tricky to explain without visuals but there's a lot of baking and alphas on the trees. It might raise more questions than answers but I'm pretty sure you'll find out in your Uni studies. Good luck at Uni! :)
What the hell is this leak? @microsoft and @OfficialToysforBob when does it come out? Christmas time would be great!
I assume it’s one of those fan made remakes in unreal games Cool concept though
Damn, you are correct! I didnt read the description. Jeez Louise, we need a remake made by this guy. Impressive
Bottles' molehills are looking a little nipple-y but otherwise I think this looks fantastic!
I have been very many years to see someone realize such a concept for a Banjo Kazooie remake. Absolutely outstanding. Maybe one day we might get something similar to this. I love it, looks great, amazing work!
Great now I have to go replay the game again and it's only been a few months... amazing job, I would lose my mind if the whole game was playable with this music and artstyle
Thank you! It means a lot to me. I wanted to go with a mix of a high-res Banjo-Kazooie and Toys For Bob art style. In regard to the music, it's all thanks to Grant Kirkhope really!
