On Sunday April 25th we sighted a new swarm not far from our current hives. With the efforts of several people we shook the swarm into a box in which they rested until Monday. On Monday morning we prepared the new hive and in the afternoon we watched the swarm follow their queen into the hive. The hive is now called "Honeysuckle Hive"

In a normal year, at Emerson Waldorf School, the third grade would participate in a shelter project at the school. 2020 is not a normal year. Distance learning has presented the opportunity for something new. Mrs. Andrea received a call Wednesday evening from a grandparent of one of her Kindergarteners. Jane said she had a bee swarm in a tree in front of her house. Early Thursday morning, the 14th of May, the three E-Ws collected the swarm. The swarm rested at the Emerson Waldorf School farm until early evening. With the help of Farmer Kristin and Mrs. Andrea the swarm was welcomed into their new home

Follow up to Zoom classroom time with the 3rd Grade. In the zoom session we talked about crafts, guilds, apprenticeships, journeymen, masters, craft family names, and more. Students had modeling beeswax to form a nail shape and analogies were made to: *their hand warming the beeswax to the forge *beeswax to the steel *thumb to the hammer
