Back with the Lyra-8 through big delay, and backed off the transients on the SSF Ultra Kick. Well, for a couple minutes. I'm also doing more tracking in Ableton Live - most of the track is live, but arranged. I did the lead after, and did a few takes of the noisy drums.

The #ohmicide module was inevitable. The drums are routed into Casper/Bastl Dark Matter and then in parallel through the Ohmicide and 100 Grit, then panned left/right a bit. Befaco Noise Plethora is modulating the Bastl Pizza doing a noise base/lead. This time I arranged the song with the OXI One. Partly to keep my hands free to play with the sounds, partly to not get lost playing and end up wi...

Warning: This video has bright and intense flashing. My other songs were live takes - this one was multitracked in Live, doing a few lives takes of different parts and arranged. This is likely a track on an upcoming album I have in mind. The video is my own visualization written in Java/Processing, taking a typical FFT spectrograph but using it as an abstract texture - manually panning, changin...
Plasma Voice

Just a basic jam to play around with the Gamechanger Audio Plasma Voice - mainly noisy lead sounds. I'm running it into the 100 Grit LPF, then into the WMD C4RBN HPF. Then, _of course_ I had to run it through the Third Man Plasma Coil, because clearly more plasma must be better. Sequenced by the OXI One, I'm using the velocity to pick the sound via the MultiCV input, and have Øchd modulating th...

Tinkering with the new Gamechanger Audio Plasma Voice and the Loquelic Iteritas through the Belgrad double-bandpass filter. SSF Ultrakick is doing the low thumping, later I'm adding in the BIA and then also routing that through Bastl Dark Matter for a noisier sound.

Exploring the LFO-mod on the Lyra-8. The low end is pulsing more rhythmically, while modulating the higher 4 voices has interesting shrieking/distorting effects depending on the mod amounts. That's run through the Erica Synths Zen Delay and then into Desmodus Versio. A few drums sprinkled in: SSF Ultra Kick doing low-end thump with Basimilus Iteritas Alter adding some grunge for the kick sound....

Wanted to play the Lyra-8, and play the drums in something offset and weird based on the Lyra's LFO modulation rhythms that I couldn't sync. Snare/noise samples are from my own sample library, played through Erica Synths Sample Drum. I had replaced the BIA with SSF Ultra-kick, but decided, the hell with it, use both. I still love the Dune reference with the formant filter on bass lines. And the...

Poly Cinematic routed through a lot of distortion and filters. Dark Matter and Manis Iteritas making awful noise. OXI One sequencing. Triptych making a lot of resonance.

Erica Synths Fusion system into Strega and 0-CTRL, then into Dark Matter with more rhythmic modulation. Snare/hihat/hits/noise through SSF Triptych. Loquelic and Manis each get their own Plasma Coil. Playing WMD mixer mutes.

Three new things in this session: First, I'm using my own snare samples with Endorphines' Two of Cups. My snares are explicitly complex sounds not just noisy techno claps. Second, SSF Ultra-Kick is booming (ok, clipping). Third, drone sounds with Erica Synths Fusion through Strega. I quite like the Manis Iteritas routed through Dark Matter into the Plasma Coil on various settings as well. I've ...
Oxi One - External MIDI sent to Multitrack Sequencer always triggering Track 1
มุมมอง 557ปีที่แล้ว
First off: the Oxi One is excellent, lots of functionality packed into a small package, and all the CV/Gate stuff makes this thing incredibly powerful. I imagine it as more of a platform than a sequencer. Problem: I am sending MIDI to the Oxi One. The Oxi One is in "Host" mode. I have the first sequencer configured as a multitrack sequencer, and set the MIDI channel to 1A. I have also enabled M...

This is amazing
Thank you!
Uh, that's gnarly! Best track I've heard so far.
Nasty in all the right ways
Fantastic!
Love it, we need more demos like this!
🦾🦾🦾🦾🦾🦾 about to fire mine up⚡️⚡️
Great pairing with the UK. Nice
I love the UK. I thought it’d replace the BIA, but I’ve been layering them together, having the BIA spit out more gnarly sounds with an envelope, and the UK fills in the deep low end thump and transient. It’s so good it’s annoying, as I just get lost playing with heavy kick sounds.
Really cool track dude! I love my plasma voice too. Just curious, are you sending stepped cv to the multi cv input to change the sounds within the lead bank? Or are you sending it midi? I’ve used my clank chaos to randomly change sounds but haven’t tried attenuating it to stay within one bank. Sounds awesome.
Thanks! Yeah, that’s exactly what I wanted to try. I had the OXI One map the velocity to a CV out and plugged that into the Plasma Voice MultiCV. That way I could play with jumping to specific sounds (more or less - it was fun finding what sound and note went well together).
Love it!
This is why we built it!! Amazing track❤❤❤
Wow, distorted rythms as I like 👍
Awesome jam! We need the full LP : )))
Haha, well now I better get on it!
This goes hard!
Really great. 👍👍👍
Incredible setup. I have a Lyra 8 too and love it. The Zen Delay and the Plasma Pedal are both in my wishlist too. Your music is awesome.
Nice Industrial track 👍
Brilliant!! 😭💕
Excellent strong dark ambient track. Strega + Lyra = good alchemy of sounds.
sounds nasty as hell, good shit
So cool to watch the noize being made!
10/10, would recommend :)

I have the same color pulsar and I've been wondering if that green lyra would look good next to it. I might have to go for it.
I call the Lyra "sickly 1950's soviet hospital green", and I adore it. I was debating between the orange and black Pulsar, and saw the army green and though THAT'S THE ONE. The only problem with the green Pulsar is the knobs - they're more solid plastic ones, but the gap between the metal and the underside of the knob is _just the right size_ for the alligator clip wires to get stuck under. Gotta be a little gentle remove them, lest one pulls a knob off.
@aftxrindustrialmusic and I find this comment the day after I just ordered Army Green 😂 It's definitely the best colour though and I prefer this style of knob.
Have you tried the latest firmwares?
Oh yes! This is fixed! And promptly too!
Can the dfam be a cv sequencer for the pulsar
yeah, I'm pretty sure, but let me give it a go and get back to you. Pulsar operates at 0-10v, and eurorack tends to be more the 5v range, so while I've sequenced the pulsar from CV, the triggers aren't as loud. I keep meaning to go back and figure that out.

Damn this is huge..!
🙀🙀Sooo good!! 🖤🖤
I'm all in on modular sound design etc. and I get it, it's "fun to work with analog switches and knobs", but honestly, isn't this just a couple of bass drums being mangled beyond recognition, to the extend that it's just noise? Are we really so excited about using a $10.000 modular setup to bit crush a bass drum or create step-randomized pitch sounds? Sorry, not trying to rain on your parade but there's so much modular potential and yet everybody's basically producing the same boring sounds. I gave the video a thumbs up for effort btw.
I often describe the music I make as a broken dryer having sex with an angry refrigerator. So, yup :) More seriously, though, there's a few things to it. It's absolutely possible to find a couple of basic samples and a cheap distortion plugin and produce some noise. Why the big ol' expensive rig? First, because it's my toy and I'm lucky enough to be able to put my money towards that. I wouldn't recommend this approach as the only way. I've seen a ton of people with far less do far more. I'm not a modular expert, nor am I a snob about music production. I'm just an artist using the tools I enjoy. Second, the _mechanics_ of how one makes art almost always intimately influences the art being made. Oil paint and turpentine have an impact in the marks being made compared to a digital brush. Neither is superior, both _could_ produce the same finished painting, but the physical and emotional feedback of the material most certainly has an impact on the artist, and often times it's not about so much about the artists' tools as much as the artists' vision with those tools. Third, I'm using like 10% of my rig for any given track. I'm still tinkering more than producing a finished product with these videos. My album releases are far more carefully arranged and produced - and also mostly digital/VST using Maschine. The modular gear was my attempt not to get anything specific out of modular, but to obliterate my habits using the digital mechanics to create music and move to something that challenges me with constant-modulating noise-making possibilities. To that end, it's been worth it, because it _has_ challenged me. I don't measure my "success" with modular by the tracks I produce here on TH-cam, I'm measuring it by how much it's pushed me to have to re-think my approach to the music I make and where I want to go next. And thanks for the thumbs up!
