Mountain Equipment Makalu Men’s Jacket: First Look at This All-Weather Performer!
มุมมอง 3.4Kปีที่แล้ว
I needed a waterproof coat, didn't own one, I've always gone for warm puffer type jackets. I went into Cotswolds to find something in a sale, and even to the surprise of the bloke behind the till, I got this. In a sale. As I said, no sponsorship involved, neither Cotswold nor Mountain Equipment know I've done this. It's a very competent outer layer for the protection of wind and rain, and it se...

Stars in the sky, Okehampton in the distance. I can't thank you enough for this. Absolutely a treasured article that will stay with me wherever I go. Andy....thank you. The 18 quid boots at Aldi are better than Regatta, last longer and comfy! Can`t go wrong with Salomon, Columbia and Merrell, the old adage, you get what you pay for!!
Good review but only possible to watch on x1.5 speed
thank you, I've not heard of that issue before, I'll have a look into it
Just bought exact same one (love the colour) can’t wait to try it out! Mind sharing the pros and cons?
I've not actually used it yet, Milan trip is end of November. I'm saving it for that. Hope it suits your needs, I can't see any potential issues with it 🤷🏻♂️
Nice little set up you got going... They're a wicked little flat spot of grass up the top of Carn Galver. I've wanted to do a night there just the Dog and I for a while but haven't done it ye. It'll be a good spot for this type of thing...
Thank you, I've been up by the trig post and a little further up the main path. some of the high points look fantastic, and very inviting
What colour is that??
Concrete 👍🏻
Looks like you had a nice relaxing camp, lovely location. I did laugh when you dropped the steak into the fire, it made me think of all the times I've unintentionally turned a grilled steak into a cowboy steak. Great little video there.
Adds to the flavour 🤣, and texture.....thanks man, it was so good to get out. Was going to go out last night, but for some reason my head couldn't manage it 🤷🏻♂️ thank you for watching and taking the time to comment 🙂
@@druthianoutdoors5786 no worries my friend, watching your video has sort of given me the push I needed to get back out again. Sort of reminded me of all the solo camps I used to do and how beneficial they were.
@raymondmolloy love that 👍🏻 get out there, I will be more in the future
Have had this for about a year, use it as a daily backpack for commuting. Right capacity for my needs, very light, good straps and back. The waist straps are useful for me carrying a heavy laptop with a dodgy back. I usually use them when i walk to/from the train station and tuck them into the water bottle holders during the day
I'm hoping to get many years out of it, seems extremely well made. I didn't realise the waist straps were removable, that's a nice touch. thank you for watching
@druthianoutdoors5786 not easily removable I don't think, but I've found tucking them into the water bottle holders works well
ah ok, good tip 👍🏻
How does it compare to other small rucksacks? Would you recommend?
I would recommend yes, the build quality seems superb. it's not cheap, don't get me wrong, but it has years in it I'm sure. thank you for watching
…. What is the meaning of life? Nice review dude
🤣 deep man.....
Have fun in Italy! Super jealous!!
thanks Rax! can't wait, long weekend of football, beer and Italian food 👌🏻
Ah - great to see you out and about again mate, hope all's well!
Hey dude, yeah all good. It's just work and life....I've been wanting to get back out for so long, but haven't been able to. My last hammock camp was over 2 years ago, it's ridiculous. I hate not being able to get out as often as I want, but, yeah....life 🤷🏻♂️ hope you're doing OK man, I've seen your vids, so good x
@druthianoutdoors5786 life can be tough. Seize the good times while you can. Mostly good here cheers - working on it 👍
Gorgeous!! Makes me want to go hiking!!
Thanks Rax, do it man! Take a camera with you for a bit more impetus

Revived mine today its pretty awsome real stainless steel which suprised me
awesome, well done! is it really? that is a surprise, thought it'd be cheap thin steel
Is it still going after 4 years of use
it literally died last week! daughter was going to take it on DofE, tested it while packing and it didn't work 😢 I tend to use the Pocket Rocket now anyway
Amazing video much enjoyed! LIked and subd 👍😄
I’m loving your humour… alone on the moors - - like it …… - 2 nighter soon?????????????
Yes mate.....all flat yeah? 🙈🤣
So gorgeous!! Happy early birthday!!🎉🎉
Cheers Rax! So that is the idiot that keeps commenting on your vids 🤣 thank you for watching
Great to see you back out Ray, I'm back to Dartmoor in July. I like the firepot meals... and normally write on the front the ml required and the time...with a sharpie I always + 3 mins as they take ages. Especially the meat versions, some are like 22-25 mins! TOP TIP cut the excess packaging off so you can get your short spork in there.... or buy a longer sport 😂 Nice one dude, you going back to the hammock woods at some point? The one with the wall around it... I liked that spot. Anyway matey. Good to see you, to see you..... GOOD. Lee
Thank you Lee x good tip too with cutting the pouch, I'll remember that. I am hoping to get out in the hammock soon x I haven't to that spot in about 3 years though, so I'd probably need to a recce to see if it's A still there and B still campable x
Nice one mate 👍
Thank you 😊 🙏🏻
Great to see you back out and about mate 👍
Thank you man 🙏🏻 was so good to be out
I ordered one but hasn’t come yet from what I can see it’s a good buy
Hey men can i use it to cook pasta cuz I'm on budget i can't afford another pot to cock??
Yellow! just off to the great links tor and found your vid very helpful. thank you
amazing, thank you 😊 🙏🏻
Druthian- really splendid shots~ till next time!)
Subbed!! Your vids take a heck of a lot more effort than mine!! Nice work!
Thank you, you're too kind. Possibly explains why I haven't done anything for a while, that's gonna change though, for sure! Cheers Rax 😊
@@druthianoutdoors5786 Awesome!
Great review mate. Have you tested it out in heavy rain yet? If so did it hold up well?
Thank you, I actually haven't yet unfortunately. Work keeps getting in the way of everything. Appreciate the watch and comment, thank you
Enjoyed the review - thanks for showing us around the jacket. Got my eye on this jacket; so the explanation of the 50 D etc was helpful. I prefer this Goretex to the ME Lhotse Jacket Goretex Pro I had, because it felt far to rigid. Keep up the good work. ATB Mark.
Thank you very much Mark, much appreciated
I always look for review videos on anything before I purchase and I was looking at these exact boots. Thank for this buddy, I will give them a miss 😂 I’m sorry you had to find out after purchasing but thank you for giving us the heads up. It’s appreciated mate 😊
What is your height and weight? I am 5'10 200 lbs. 44.5 chest pounds and just ordered an the Makalu in an extra large. Should be here on Wednesday.
How did the XL fit?
A shame geever is flooded and poldark is closed but great when they do open though
Great review. Thanks What size chest are you? I'm on the limit of Size L and was wondering if the XL is a lot bigger
thank you Justin, I'm a 44" chest
@@druthianoutdoors5786hi m8 L or XL looks pretty slim on ou thx
hi Raymondo i miss the best postie ever, how are you? 👍🏻👋🏻
Hiya Bridget!! Yeah all good thank you x miss you too 😊 hope you're well
Nice video. I am 185 cm and 80 kg. Do you think this hammock will be ok for my size? 😊
I'm 5ft 11" and around 80kg, I found it very comfortable 😌
I nearly drowned here when I was a kid 😅
😳 Nice memory 🙈🤣
@Druthian Outdoors safe to say we never went back 🤣
@@90sIndieGrungeScene no.....🤣🤣 strange that
@Druthian Outdoors I think now I'd end up breaking my neck trying to get down there lol
Looks decent, Does the canister fit inside too?
it does yes, it's a good solid bit of kit. Still use it to this day
@@druthianoutdoors5786 good to hear it's still going will order one! Can only find the 900ml version is that the one you have?
sounds about right 👍🏻
Great to watch, thanks for the tour. Yellow
Hi there I like the video I found this buy scanning a qr code outside coop in pool. I going to look for more on my travel

A good walk with a good feel. Most days i take starsky and hutch our little yorkies for a stretch there. Always get snagged by The Red Lion strangely on the way home
cute, did you see the squirrels on my Tehidy video, Druthian?
