Love your comments
Would love to get the DVD of the whole concert that others have talked about in the comments. Does any one know the name of it and whether it is still available to purchase. I am in Australia.
The Life Pedal’s based on the Rat. I’ve heard the Rat being called a mix of distortion and fuzz, but I’d class it as distortion. I bought the life pedal because I wanted the Sun O))) sound but was a bit disappointed that it wasn’t fuzzier. I was able to smooth it out a little by turning up the overdrive on my Orange amp: I have the Orange Rocker 15 Terror, which is a tube amp built so that it can break up at 1 or even 0.5 watts, so you can have tube distortion at low volume. Not sure I’d recommend the Life pedal if you specifically want fuzz. I found it to be very clippy; harsh like distortion. I have some low output pickups to swap in to my guitar to give the pedals more headroom but I’m not sure it’ll really make a difference. I think it’s just that Rat type pedals are basically more distortion pedal than fuzz. If you want that specific Sun O))) sound I guess the life pedal is a bit of a no-brainer, but if you’re looking for fuzz you might want to skip over it.
Sick chugs, Bro.!
Imagine, he played for 600.000 people at the Isle of Wight August 30th 1970, then immediately flew to Scandinavia and Germany, for concerts in the next days, giving his final gig the 6th of September, 1970. Billy Cox had already dropped out and flew home due to severe hallucinations from bad drugs. Hendrix himself was “on” one day, then out of it the next day, then “on” again. Absolutely crazy life-style. Nobody was ever as heavy, intense or brilliant as Hendrix.
to fuzzy and out of tune!
You talk to much
Man you pause it way too many times let it play please
Must agree with Jeff Beck at a very close number two
A Hendrix performance is a unique event of controlled chaos....
You're dead on here! Reverb not needed, Fuzz and distortion are priority. Octave fuzz and separate octave pedals are optional (you could even octave lower with an OC-2), phasers are good too. Your basic Doom signal chain is > Wah (optional) > distortion > muff or superfuzz > Tuner > phaser (optional) > delay.
This guy. Is a clown
This is from the Isle of wite show, one of his last performances. Sorry, this doesnt hold a candle to the band of gypsys fillmore east machine gun. There is only one machine gun. This aint it. Was never that keen on the isle of wite show. Jimi wasnt into playing that show. It shows. Just going through the motions. I worship jimi, but when he wasnt feeling it, he was just another good gtrist. When he was feeling it, he took you through the cosmos. Listening to this video, i am wondering what show he's describing, because the isle of wite was crap compared to the fillmore east, berkely, woodstock, montery pop, winterland, the atlanta pop fest, devonshire downs, san diego pop fest, the l a. Forum. Those are just top of my head must have concerts of absolute worth. The isle of wite is depressing. Jimi was not into doing that show at all. Jim jefferies the manager over booked jimi to the point of a near nervous breakdown. He couldnt wait to finish that isle show. He threw his gtr down at the end of it and walked offstage, he was so fed up. I dont hero gloss everything he did. Jimi had his own standards of excellence. The isle of wite is a dismal example.
Man I wish I could have seen this live....
The Cream stepping into Hendrix wouldve been otherworldly. They were in some ways limited by Clapton.
I've heard all his music and machine gun is outer space stuff amazing 🎉but he's like that with other stuff he plays anyway🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
Thank you for this! so many of the demos for these are just thrash or black metal, and yes I know these do those sounds well, but I want to know how they sludge or doom.
Cheers. Slow the tempo down and use open strings and pentatonic
Iconic riffage! What gauge strings do you use for C#?
Honestly, I don't know. I just got the bass from the shop, so probably the standard bass size
Does it doom? Does it ever!
That sounds awesome rock on 🤘
Man I didn’t know you had a yt channel we follow each other on ig man great vids
Damn this shit slaps harder than my dad when he’s drunk
Hendrix put soul of the Negro Chitlin Juke Joint zulu flavor in so call rock noize. All the soul Brothers put it out there in some form or fashion. In every aspect of life ,be it art, sports, etc. Soul serves its purpose.Have you heard of that Boombastic Bass player???? You know M. Jordan.
You should have done filmore version man!
Infamous recording😮 you mean famous mate!
No, Eddie and Hendrix were not equal. I've played for over forty years with many musicians and Hendrix doesn't influence like the King does. Van Halen far surpassed Hendrix as the top innovator after his first few albums. From technique to tone and equipment, Eddies the top dog. You'd be lucky to catch Hendrix stay in tune unless he's in a studio which is where he shined. With that said, thumbs up!
Eddie is nowhere near Jimi Hendrix. Eddie invented a few things or made them popular. His inventions were mainly about his sound and tinkering with his gear but he didn't evolve at all. He relied way too much on tapping and that became incredibly predictable. He was a great player, especially rhythm and his groove but Randy Rhoads, especially when it comes to solos was far better than Eddie.
Saw the band in 1968 and the Doors the Dead . Jerry played like this distortion wha wha . Heavy metal sucked. Jim Morrison said the west is the best get here and will do the rest, Jerry was exactly the same only different. your wrong the about this Jerry listened to horn players . Listen to the Dead. The energy was LSD. So do it.
thanks a lot for showing! I'm still on the old roland cube street....and steadily fighting with myself not to buy the boss thing.....
Love your shirt. My argument that Jimmy Page is a better guitar player is laughable after watching this. i still love ya Jimmy but damn. This is ' beethoven symphony 7" of guitarists.
The Berkeley version is astonishing.
How do you use the Two Stroke?
🙏🏼 High five, Hendrix fanboy!
Killer.. is that a baritone?
My music theory instructor in college said Hendrix was the only one who did anything original in music in the 20th century. I concur....
Hendrix was NOT in the Zip code of head banging. Head banging is associated with fast BPM straight 4/4 - not this slow dreary pentatonic noodling. When this came out in '70 it was depressing. You had to be there. Too bad the proper studio version was never done. (forget the alan douglas POS) 🎸
CHUNK-CHUNK CHUNK-CHUNK-CHUNK CHUNK-CHUNK
This doom metal is so groovy!
Drop B
Please check out BAND-MAID a group from Japan and their song DICE I think you might like them th-cam.com/video/ZpAYnVJX9CY/w-d-xo.htmlsi=LO5Tyo0Gixua06eP
I truly hope the intro jam is available on Spotify. That opening was absolutely amazing, fantastic playing!
No argument from me about Jimi's place at number 1...but I just want to focus a sec on Mitch Mitchell. I have him at 3 or 4 on my best drummers of all time. He was EXACTLY what Jimi needed...super creative, a true percusionist. One and two are a toss-up between Bonham and George Hurley of the Minutemen. Fwiw, I have Pert at 5-6, and it's mainly because I like the music of all the bands higher on the list more than I do Rush's music. Some of their stuff is great, but some was silly--2112 is a complete joke. MM is always enriching everything Jimi does.
He has way better versions of Black Star tbh
What tuning are you using here? Pickups sound awesome
drop c. black winter. awesome tone
The security radio ... wow..
cool man
Cool!
Love this!
Other guitarists are ice cream cones. Jimi, a Banana Split .😊
I guess someone said this before, but this is not 1969. This is August 31, 1970. I agree with everything you've said, otherwise.
Perfect. I'm going to see them tomorrow night in baton rouge
