How To Get A FREE HEAT PUMP Installed - HEEHRA/HEAR Rebate Program Explained
I explain how to get a free heat pump installed by the government. It's not as hard as you'd think if you find a contractor willing to go to the process of the rebates with you. There are no catches except for the fact that you need to do an installation that qualifies and you have to be within the income brackets to qualify for the installation yourself. This program is a nationwide program but it is distributed independently by each state. It is currently live in California and just went live a couple weeks ago. I do not anticipate this rebate lasting long due to the amount of money available versus the number of homes that qualify.

The WORST Thing That Can Happen On An HVAC Install...

We replaced this water source heat pump and the board that came with the unit was bad out of the box. It ended up taking us three weeks to get back out to the job which just barely happened. Great channel. Enjoy the straight shooting no bs approach. I’m trying to teach myself about mini splits and I’m slowly getting there. Quick question. Say you had done this the “book way” and recovered what refrigerant was left in the system. After doing that, you would pull a vacuum before weighing in what the data plate says. What I can’t find, is do you pull the vacuum on the empty system with the service valves open? If so, is there anything special you have to do with the EEV or anything in the outdoor unit?

    • @SurfBrosHVAC
      @SurfBrosHVAC 6 วันที่ผ่านมา

      If you do it the "book way" the catch is that you would 100% have to fix the leak. That way it's even capable of vacuuming down. I don't think there's anything special you have to do on single zone units but on multi-zone units some of them have specific pump down

      @salvatoregiovanni8967 6 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @SurfBrosHVAC 6 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@salvatoregiovanni8967 If joints are accessible then we always recommend just biting the bullet and paying us to check all flares when one is leaking. The big issue is that a lot of contractors bury the joint in the wall and leave them inaccessible. That's what happened on this system

    you ever use a fieldpiece SNCV1 24v ncv tester (or comparable) tester to do it quicker without having to poke leads down in the wire nut not knowing if your in it or not ? just a thought you might have to pull other wires out of way a bit with your fingers so it don't pick up them. maybe I'll try your hopscotch method with ncv and poking and see what happens

    I have the Gree flexx 3 ton unit with air handler. The outside unit shows a code h6 on the led. I think this implies an issue with the fan motor. Can the motor already be bad on a 2 year old unit? Any suggestion would be appreciated.

    • @SurfBrosHVAC
      @SurfBrosHVAC 16 วันที่ผ่านมา

      In my experience with the code like this you'll first want to look at the wiring. Make sure there's no loose wire harnesses or nicked wires that aren't going to be able to carry power to the motor. If the wiring looks good you'll want to check voltage to the motor make sure it's getting the proper signal from the board. It can be hard to check these I'm not 100% sure if you need the small voltmeter leads to test voltage doing this. If these things check out and the motor doesn't run, then yeah the motor definitely could be bad

    From my experience, I've stopped selling them all together! Absolute Chinese low quality parts! Also, be sure to check the engineering data for the actual output of the units because they are incredibly low compared to the other equipment available out there. Not to mention the improperly written manuals that provide incorrect information! This is a Midea, not a quality piece of equipment!

    • @SurfBrosHVAC
      @SurfBrosHVAC หลายเดือนก่อน

      What issues have you had? We've had none to date. They are produced by Midea and so yes the product does in fact have many similar traits but they are built to a much higher spec. If you have seen Midea systems and Bosch systems next to each other you'll see that there are almost no similarities between the two besides the outer shell.

    • @MrDeviousdom
      @MrDeviousdom หลายเดือนก่อน

      @SurfBrosHVAC they've been a complete mess. Loose blower wheels, bent blower wheels and motor brackets, evaporator coil leaks, control board failures, etc. I tried uploading some pictures, but TH-cam deleted the link. One of the worst problems is that the instruction manuals have incorrect information for some of the units, namely the packaged heat pumps. It's just a mess, it's cost me a ton of money and I'm done selling their garbage. The biggest issue I have with their garbage is that it has extremely low capacity when compared to other similarly sized equipment. For example, the five ton package unit has a capacity of 40.1 KBTU in the summer. That's just not enough. Be careful!

    Don't you have a contract that states exactly what you're installing? Also, what's this "supplier" stuff? Got to the distributor and get what you want. Unless you are working without a CACA not much of this makes any sense.

    • @SurfBrosHVAC
      @SurfBrosHVAC หลายเดือนก่อน

      Supplier and distributor are the same thing. I typically buy American Standard branded Mitsubishi. Sometimes they give it to me with the Mitsubishi models though as it's the same equipment and that's what Mitsubishi gives them if they run out of American Standard stuff. Due to the way my distributor treats the model numbers I make it clear on my contract that there are two equivalent model numbers and I may use either. This is the only time I've had pushback. If someone has a strong preference I can get it under either model number they'd like but I would just need them to let me know before the job happens. As they are the exact same unit I've never had anyone request a specific model number before the job.
