The question of whether to poop in one’s hat reminds me of something I read years ago. The Hayes Code (the censorship board that Hollywood had to follow back in the day) prohibited numerous words and phrases. I was confused as to why “in your hat” was on the list. I thought, “What, were people back then saying, ‘Well, in your hat, buddy!’ as some kind of threat?” Finally I did research and discovered it referenced a saying/threat, “[Poop] in your hat and wear it!” “Wait, which grandma?!” I had the same reaction!
