It was odd at this point in the timeline that Josh was so worried about losing his job, plus that he didn't seem to have any graduation plans or internships lined up. It was always established that he was a studious character who wanted to grow up and get a good respectable career in sciences, yet he was spending his final year of school still working the movie theater soda counter and getting into legal bother with his idiot slacker brother. Either he had fear of failure/success, he was too sheltered and not ready to leave home for College and take other opportunities, or he just loved Drake too blindly to ever tell him no (which Drake kind of alludes to in this scene, when he says "I'll take that no as a yes" with full confidence that Josh will accept it)
This was such a strange, dark, shaky movie tonally, as compared with the series. It was like the leads wanted to go for a more adult humour & innuendo, which is fine considering their ages at the time, only the network clearly didn't want that and made them tone it down or mask it, so an unsatisfying compromise was made and the movie didn't hit on either level.
Drake and Josh's parole officer paid some guys to jump Drake and Josh and steal their clothes so he could give them a ticket for public nudity, and he got rid of their car because it's blue.
He’s basically the grinch in that movie and yeah he was an asshole for trying to sabotage drake and Josh’s mission to give the kids the best Christmas ever
Yeah, I never liked the Officer Gilbert character, even with his backstory, and so-called “redemption.” Something I wish happened in the movie was for word of Gilbert’s corruption to come out, causing trouble for Drake and Josh, including hiring thugs to mug them, ripping the pair’s clothes off. Perhaps have Drake and Josh realize that Gilbert had the basketball punks do that, and with the help of Megan, gets a recorded confession from the basketball players, and sends it to the police station. Gilbert deserved to pay the consequences for his corrupt deeds. I don’t even remember Gilbert properly apologizing to Drake and Josh for not only his behaviour/attitude, but his willful abuse of power, misdeeds, and crimes, even dropping ticket charges, as well as personally paying the $900 to get their car back for them. Officer Gilbert’s change towards the end doesn’t feel like a true redemption for him, since he chose to do all those bad things, and not once has he held himself accountable. I don’t even remember him admitting the stuff he was doing was wrong.
I hated Gilbert so much back then not to mention he tried to sabotage Drake and Josh by making them ruin the kids best Christmas ever and giving them tickets
