NUATV Sanpete Utah Sep 14, 2024
Highlights from the second day of the NUATV Trail Riders club ride out in the Sanpete trail area starting from Manti, Utah. Some of the ride was on the Skyline Drive trail, most was in forested areas below Skyline Drive. This one features lots of great scenary, the start of some Fall colors, a waterfall, a big hill to climb, and a big old mud hole. Another great ride for sure!

The ride includes a couple of very scenic overlooks, and visits to the old Ute Mountain Fire Lookout Tower, Spirit Lake, and Brownie Lake. And a nice trout was caught by club member Dan (he did catch & release).

Day 1 of the NUATV Trail Riders club ride out in the Marysvale, Utah area. We traveled east of Marysvale and saw a jail where Butch Cassidy had been briefly held (Jesse James too) and also visited his boyhood home. We met a lady from Germany who has lived in Circleville for a while and has become sort of a historian in that area.

This is the first day of the Kanab club ride. We headed into Arizona and drove in the Kaibab Forest and saw part of the Grand Canyon. Plenty of great scenary, the forest was beautiful and the trail was easy. The cabin we stopped to see belongs to Willis and his family. Willis and Esther were our ride leaders on this day; many thanks to them! And the fire burning next to the road was part of a c...

(Note: I don't monetize my videos, so any commercials that pop up have been added by the TH-cam people). Day 2 of the NUATV Trail Riders club ride on the Sanpete-Arapeen trail system. On this day we started from Ephraim, Utah, and headed East on Canyon Road to the staging area part way up the canyon. Then we backtracked a bit to get to New Canyon Road where our trail started. A history lesson on a fire lookout. Must have been interesting.
Steve, Sure enjoy your videos of the NUATV Club rides. They are always so clear and precise. You do a great job of editing your work and adding the most appropriate music for the section of trail. Thanks for all your efforts. Richard Beckstead NUATV Club
Thank you so much, I'm glad you like the videos!
I love your videos! I am wondering what year your Rzr is and how many miles you have on it now? I’ve watched many of your videos with the NUATV club, it seems like you have had your machine for several years? Pretty great video! Looks like so much fun.
Thank you! Glad to hear you like them. It's a 2013 RZR 800 and we bought it used in 2014 with only 300 miles on it. It has 5,200 miles now. Still runs great and also works great for the rides our club goes on.
Could you show this trail on on-x off road ?
I would like to know how to access this trail . Would that be possible ? 😊
Unfortunately I don't have the ride details. I was along for the ride with everyone else. But the place to start would be Panguitch, Utah, and head out to the trails from there.
Another really good video Steve. Thanks so much for you efforts in our behalf.
Thanks Reed!
Nicely done Steve. Thanks for your efforts.
Thanks, Reed!
Looks like a fun ride. How many miles did you do?
About 60
1st
That is a whole lot of public land. Theodore Roosevelt Jr., often referred to as Teddy the 26th president of the United States gave us all National forests to enjoy. He was so great they etched his image into Mount Rushmore. Teddy was the only avoid hunter president we have ever had.
Great videos. Thank you. I love your trusty side by side. What year is it and how many miles do you have on it? Thank you.
Thank you! Our machine is an oldie, an a 2013 RZR 800. Just hit only 5,000 miles since we don't do a ton of rides.
Was that Rock Candy Mountain in the beginning of the video?
I love all your videos
Thank you!
Great video thanks for sharing .
You bet
We had no idea how decent Atv/Sidexside folks were iuntil we went to an event in Marysvale. Such good people.
I agree
Thank you for the video - where did your group start the trip?
You're welcome. We started at the Rocky Ridge Resort owned and run by Sam Steed and his wife in Marysvale. They have 8 cabins for rent. It's a nice place.
This is one of your best very cool ride . Happy Trails to you.
Thanks! 👍
We were on those same trails two days after you were. We were also there in August, and got rained out by Hurricane Hilary during that ride, but in September the weather was perfect. When you rode up Trail 38, you passed by a tree we had to cut with a handsaw during the August trip, before we got rained out. I saw the tree in the video as you rode past it. I love the Arapeen Trail System! I just wish it wasn't 1,000 miles each way from where we live...... But we do have the Oregon Dunes, and I see Utah plates in the dunes....👍
Looks like a good ride. Did you have to buy Arizona permits
Thanks! It was a good one. Yes, we had to have AZ off road permits, $30. I didn't get the tag in time for the ride but all you have to do is take along the receipt for the permit. We didn't get stopped though to have to show our permit receipt. Looked like all the park rangers were busy doing controlled burns that day.
Beautiful ride! We love the Arapeen!
How many thousands of pounds of dust do u ingest riding with groups of people
🤣🤣 LOL, don't know. I've never measured it and wouldn't know how to do that. But I'm pretty sure it's been a lot less than even one pound for an entire season of riding. My wife and I haven't ended up coughing and hacking due to dust on any of our rides. Things that help include wearing some kind of dust protection for your mouth and nose (which we do) and also if it's really dusty be sure to leave plenty of space between you and the machine in front. Usually the wind will be blowing the dust either to the right or left of the trail so you don't catch all of it. But protection from the dust and wind (when going 20mph or more) is also important to me because I wear contacts. I'd be pretty miserable w/o my goggles and I know because I had to ride that way once.
Good Job! Your video keeps improving. Entertaining, informative and you all had a good time. The perfect day.
Thanks so much!
Great organization, great ride very informative and well organized. I love the sound of the engines running as they transition the trails, not a big fan of the music interjected during portions of the ride but that’s just me. Your video’s are always very informative and rides are safe. God bless your organization and ride safely.
Thank you very much!
Great rides thankyou for sharing
Glad you enjoyed!
This is very cool . I am from michigan doe's your club allow guest to ride along ?
Thanks and yes we do, for a small fee for each ride you want go on. But the way it works is you have to be included in the sign up for a ride by someone who is already a member. Annual membership fees are not that much though. For this year they were $30/single, $45/couple, and $60/family. These will increase after Jan 1. You can check it out at the club's site, nuatv.com.
My wife and I have been watching your videos and wanted to let you know that we have noticed quite an improvement in the quality. The video is much improved and a much better audio...the music is good and way better than hearing the machine all the time. Good job keep up the good work! 👍👍👍👍👍
Wow, thank you!
How many miles do you have on your RZR? Looks and sounds like its still running superbly.
It just barely turned over 4,000. Yep, it's still going strong, knock on wood!
Just want you to know found your channel couple of weeks age i think i have watch all your videos great channel keep up the good work .
Awesome, thank you!
I watch these from Clayton NC and appreciate you sharing your activities/adventure with us. I would love to be there in person but this is the next best thing. Thanks again and God bless 🙏
Thank you and I'm glad you enjoy the videos!
Nice job once again!
I appreciate that Reed, thank you!
I like the “cruising “. That’s the way to ride! Thanks for the video
Glad you enjoyed it!
Great riding, is there any other utv trails over by Hite Marina?
There are a number of trails in that area that we did not explore during this ride. Our ride leaders only select part of an area, of course, so we can complete a ride within a reasonable time. Glad you liked the video!
Hi is that canyon you guys are traveling up in the first 4 minutes Hansen Creek??
Hi Lance. I don't remember exactly, could be Hansen. That was a while ago. I didn't help plan the route we took. Sorry I can't be more help on that.
Do you have GPS tracks that you are willing to share?
The club does have GPS tracks but those are for club members, so I can't give them out to everyone. If you'd like to join you'll have access to all of the GPS tracks going back for years. The annual membership fee is quite low, you can check it out at NUATV.com.
Ya I need to go drive that thing!
Absolutely!
It would be nice to know where you folks are. Thanks
Skip, half the time I'm on these rides I'm thinking the same thing: it would be nice to know where we are, LOL! Seriously though, if you're looking for detailed info on the trails we took I don't have that as I was not the ride leader and didn't plan the ride. To get out to Bug Lake we headed East through Logan Canyon in northern Utah and our staging area was at the Hardware Ranch. I believe there is more than one trail that can be taken to get out to Bug Lake. If you have a trail map of that area or look up trail maps online or using a GPS app then you will be able to plan a route to get there and back. Best wishes!
Great video. My wife and I will be wintering in Arizona and we have been following your club rides for over a year. Is there some way to join you on some rides in the future?
Thank you! We have a really good club, lots of good people in it and the rides are well organized. Probably the best thing to do is to join. Membership is not very expensive at all. You can go to the club's website at nuatv.com and check it out. Once you're a member you'll be able to see the ride schedules and ride notes and sign up for rides. It would be great to have you come along!
Nice work Steve! I think that will go down as one of your best. Very well done. And to Fred Dumas . . . you are the best! Good, informed lead with good, relevant information to let our folks know about the area. You have set a great standard to follow.
Thank you, Reed! And I agree, Fred did a great job as our ride leader.
Nice job Steve! Thanks for dedicating your skills and talent to completing a great video like this. It is appreciated.
Thanks Reed! And thank you for your leadership in our club and for being the ride leader on many of our rides.
What time of the year did you guys go on this ride? Noticed everybody had warmer clothes on. The scenery looks awesome, thanks for posting
The ride was during the first half of October, so yes a little cooler weather in order to avoid the Summer heat. Ticaboo does have great scenery. And, you're welcome!
Very nice Steve! It looks like that DJI did a wonderful job. How was it to work with?
Thanks Reed. That camera did do a nice job, I think. It's easy to use and I like the color profiles better than a GoPro. I think it looks more realistic, a better match to actually being there, and I think the overall image is more consistent as you move along the trail. Where the GoPro Hero 8 does better though is the audio. That part is definitely better than the Osmo Action.
I love the music 🎶
Thank you!
Nice to see your club out riding again. So wish I could come along on these rides of yours. The rides look like such a great way to spend a day. I'm looking forward to seeing more. :)
Thanks! I'm currently working on a few more videos, it's a slow process. Day 2 of San Rafael Swell is almost done and then we went on another 2-day club ride near Cedar City, Utah, last weekend so that one is up next.
Where was your start point in the canyon?
Starting point was at the Tibble Fork reservoir. Go around the reservoir and take the trail that goes off to the right. The other way off to the left goes to Silver lake.
What trail # is it?
Sorry but I don't don't have that info. I wasn't the ride leader, just along for the ride and there were various trails we traveled.
What camera are you using
A GoPro Hero 6 Black when riding and a Fujifilm X-T3 when out of the machine
Where did start Day 1 from?
We started from a spot called the Jacobs Chair Staging Area. From the Ticaboo Lodge you travel north on highway 276 until you get to the highway 95 junction, then turn right and head south and go for 38.5 miles. The coordinates for the area close to where we started are 37°42'23.83"N 110°14'22.22"W.
Great video, guys. Wonderful scenery. Looks like a lot of fun.
Thanks! It was a very nice ride.
Nice leisurely ride. Nothing too technical, just a relaxing ride with beautiful scenery.
You summed it up nicely, thanks for watching!
Nearly every time I go down that trail, I find broken parts of machines that have rolled over. You got further than most do.👍
I can believe that. Turning around was not easy at all, thought for a second I might go over the edge. But getting back out was easier since we knew what to expect.
