My $500 Convertible Workshop - at the end
มุมมอง 242หลายเดือนก่อน
Taking a break from making garlic powder. It’s a short walk through the front yard from the Powder Room where garlic is processed to the hoop shop or Lead Shed (as in heavy metal lead shed) where I restore old wood sash. I made it convertible with three layers; screening, clear greenhouse poly, and a heavy duty tarp.
How I Harvest and Cure Garlic

Not the traditional way of doing it but it works for me. Faster, cleaner, same results as when I use to tie them in bundles and hang them to cure.

This is how I do it. At some point they’ll all get yanked but right now they’re still babies.

The She Shed
มุมมอง 6782 หลายเดือนก่อน
Built 28 years ago with mostly salvaged materials it was supposed to be a garden shed but that never happened. It’s first use was a summer guest house, we live near the beach, it had all the amenities; cable tv, fridge, microwave, toaster oven, two burner propane stove, coffee maker, hot & cold water with an outside shower, sleeping for four and more. However, the old saying is true, “guests ar...

Sifting Bedding From the Chicken Coops
มุมมอง 734 หลายเดือนก่อน
I added 1/4” hardware cloth on the inside of the sifting cylinder. The outside is 1/2” which is perfect for compost used in the garden. The 1/4” finer material is for potting up seedlings.

Old HF Cement Mixer Turned Into An Automatic Compost Sifter For $15
มุมมอง 15K2 ปีที่แล้ว
I take no credit for this concept. There are many videos showing different ways to accomplish the same end result. I used what I had on hand, with the exception of the hardware cloth, and although it ain’t pretty, it works better than expected.
Chicken's Water Heater
มุมมอง 2.5K6 ปีที่แล้ว
A very simple solution to freezing water. That's a 25W bulb and no, I'm not worried about using extension cords. Ran it like this all last winter with no issues. Installed new cords this year, in conduit.

Brother Gardener, I like your Style ! Your video is EXACTLY what I needed.!!!!!! I just got home from buying a second hand mixer, just like yours. I got it from a Market Place add. I have the Concrete wire and Hardware cloth all ready. I will probably reinforce it just maintenance

@@barryjanis It will save you so much work. If I had to make another one I would use some sort of quick release hold down clamps for the cage so it could easily be removed and put back on. I used perforated strapping and zip screws which is still removable if needed but just not a quick method.

Sir, I saw a guy who did something kinda like this. However, he reinforced the ends with a bicycle rims. Made it very sturdy. Yours works well, just food for thought. Nice job!!!

Nice job of re-purposing what you had on hand! Looks like it works well, although I wonder how the dust it throws off is affecting your lungs. Thanks for sharing this video!

I wonder if the mixer part would breakdown leaves. I have very thick magnolia leaves and I saw a leaf shredder on Amazon but it wasn’t cheap.🤔

What about running a push mower over the pile of leaves a few times?

    • @dmbrookfield
      @dmbrookfield 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

Put the leaves in a big container if you have a strimmer get a metal cutter and that shreds then really quickly or as someone else said put a lawn mover over them, the strimmer works fine for me and really breaks things down, I then put it all in a huge worm bin I have and let the worms do the composting

If you have access to power why don’t you just use a heated chicken waterer , seriously you can get one for under $20, this is an absolute waste of time

Ride around new construction building sites, when cement is being laid down. Ask the crew for a piece 4ft X 6ft , should work. Good Luck.

It’s that time of year, I’ll be plugging in tomorrow. Its in the 20s at night now. This heater setup has been working flawlessly since the day I put it together five years ago. I just used what I had on hand and got lucky.
