Just for fun - Some Rouvy downhill max speed attempt.
Just for the fun. Today hit 118.8 km/h with 975W draft at maximum. I still don't have 4 spoke wheels yet. With some patience to collect coins for super wheels and put more power, my goal is to hit 120+ km/h and 1000+W draft.

I have never ridden here yet😂😂😂 been here 18 years. when sky lane open, I always plan to go. Maybe I should try it soon. Always fast here.
There are all kinds of speed and size group from av. 47-48 km/h and 100 riders to chill ride on mini bike.
@ early next year, i will try. next week is vacation time.
nice! your on vacation. Enjoy!
What bike choice for ride🤔
With volcano climb KOM, maybe pinarello F 2024 + enve 7.8. Still aero but lighter than solid DT disc wheel
I feel like Rouvy again messed it up in the final results. On your video you are finishing ahead of Dustin (Darth) by 1 meter but on official results he shows ahead. Dunno why this is happening, somehow their race server doesn't register the results correctly. Oh well...still a great race Ben. See you on the next one.
Thanks for kind words. And Colin's video he just decide to skip my finish 2nd time so i don't have a different perspective😮. Not sure what he is thinking... I notice in the past watching several youtubers on the same rouvy race, the avatar are place differently in each computer.
@@benjapolcycling I'm looking at your and Dustin's drafting charts on my.rouvy....neither of you had any draft near the finish. That's not helping either. The rider coming from behind should show drafting but neither shows it. So in reality you were riding side by side, but on your video he shows 1 meter (3 ft) behind you. Happened to other riders recently too. Just glad we are not offering any prizes on our races but imagine if there was a prize associated with podium finishes, it would be frustrating.
@@oztanbasak wow i don't even know that thing existed.
@@benjapolcycling I wonder if the little delay after you crossed the line causing all these. watch your video again when you cross the line, your avatar shows frozen at finish for a bit. That's when the race results must be registering. I wonder if that little delay there causing all this.
@@oztanbasak in real life i had experience of someone finish behind me get podium 3rd place because at the start line, i am in the front and he stay near the back. So this guy finish little behind me in sprint contest but his chip time is faster than my time, I got 4th. I was a bit shocked to see the guy i won the sprint got podium but i got nothing 😂😂
Can you do a video on your equipment setup?
Garmin head unit, Gopro 9, power meter, garmin virb program (free but old and unsupported)
Is this purple loop different from the "badlands" loop in Trailforks?
Just go check trailforks. Unofficially i can answer that it's not exactly the same. When you ride you will see the markers and flags thats are quite clear. In the gopro effect it's not as good to see markers but in real world it would be a bit easier.
Good job Ben, the new stuff is great, just makes me wonder what section is next to get redone, the Boy Scout Downhill has some rocks at the top of it, that may be next,, its great so far..
Thanks for kind word. it take some work for this video. Also looking for new sections and more fun stuffs. Generally I love it but I wish they have slightly tame down the nemesis rooty climb on mile 6 and steep step-up rock slabs on my 7.5 a little. Still quite a challenge to me not to put feet down on those difficult climbs.
@@benjapolcycling They have more to go, I hope they get to a few more washed out areas,, we'll see..

Just curious, what was your route for the day? Did you also bike around kennisington park too? Where did you park?
Kensington + Proud + Island lake. Plenty of places to park in Kensington as it's in the middle and shortest drive off highway.
Where did you park? Im looking on the map and it doesn't seem like there's anyplace to park around the wixom trail entrance.
I actually park at Kensington metropark and did total 40 mile ride. This clip is just a portion. Most people will just park at Dawson/Childs lake lot for Proud 3+4 loop. People who use connector 1 mostly ride to/from Hickory glen park. There is a parking slightly further next to Proud HQ/Wixom road but it's mainly for hiking trail access with restroom as a plus, maps.app.goo.gl/sqf6TKhFg3ih64pX8
55:33 hi, it’s me!
Hello legend of Proud Lake 🙇♂️👋
The autumn 🍂🍁 colour looks amazing!!!
And weathere here is very cooperating. Consecutive several nice sunny days and pleasant temperatures 😊 so happy!!
1:26:00 The start of Big Mean Hill. Named for the difficult climb (not a lot of people can ride up the other side of the creek without unclipping) that gives you a false "you're done climbing" at 1:28:30 with some level and downhill, before turning right back up...
we had an incident after the flat road and 2 track that leads to the road crossing with a stop sign at 39:15. The FFG's passed our group on the 2 track and when we got tot the stop sign, when we arrived at the sign, we found one of them had ignored it and T-boned a DNR truck pulling a boat. Luckily he hit the truck between the rear tire and the tailgate and didn't catch the trailer tongue and bow of the boat. That might have been really bad. They sat there and wrote tickets for the rest of the season for running that one.
now i'm about 14 minutes in. Soooo much of that trail is exactly as it was 20 yrs ago... I recognize turns, climbs, sand at the bottom of hills... sorry, i'm up on a Saturday drinking coffee re-living the ride I would have been doing in 2000-2004.
Thanks, I haven't ridden there since 2004. One season I broke a shoulder blade in the section about 8:15, washed out the front when I went wide in the sandy turn and came down hard. I used my pack strap as a sling and walked back out to change clothes and start the grill for when everyone finished up the ride... went for x-rays the next day and got the news and 8 weeks off....ok, back to the ride... love that you did the whole thing!
I have updated full Poto trail video for 2024 just uploaded yesterday with 3 (or you could say 4) detour and reroutes. Most of the meanest features and climbs are still there, but there are some more flow and jump/drop features. Hope you enjoy my 2024 updated video. I heard more reroute segments are still in the plan but I don't know in particular. Stay tuned.
Pretty solid and great wattage. I just don't understand why they put a sprint at the end of a downhill, you were in a great position though 👍
Thanks. It adds variety to strategy. I am not good at sprint power anyway 😂😂.
I cannot believe you did Sugar Loop on a gravel bike… amazing!
LOL I was way more bravery back then, and take all the detour line. Now I would not ride this (especially Big kame rocks and Sugar loop) on gravel bike again ever 😂😂😂. I heard rumor there are several rider that sometimes ride DTE on gravel bike, not just me.
The power numbers! Wow!
Thanks but nah, I know several local racers around here that are always on the podium, my number is nothing compare to them.
I just started MTB in July and have been on Beach and Pines a lot. This POV video got me excited to get to Bee Line. Thanks!
Thanks. I have not been to Stony for several months now. I heard they reworked on several sections. Bee line is a good intermediate trail to practice before you go to more advanced trail there. Enjoy and be safe!
Well done!
Dude! You kicked ass!
It's a butt Kicker ride. Most people just go to DTE. I find the poto more challenging. I just did a full triple trail training ride yesterday at 49 miles. I did have to walk up my share of hills.Very challenging.
I would be very impressed if you can do the whole thing without walking at all especially on the connector... some super technical and steep hills. Enjoy the ride!
The map looks funny

Thank you for sharing this, may I ask what equipment you use that allows for the detailed dashboard in your video? Also what bike is that?
Garmin VIRB software. It's free but no longer supported. Stumpjumper alloy base, model year 2021. This year 2024 in particular, Poto trail has a lot of change/upgrade and it's still ongoing right now. After new trails is done and get firm up I will probably be back for update video.
Thank you for showing all that data on the climb.
Great vid! Were there any water stations along the way? I’ll be in it this year
No water station, so bring some water with you. Good thing is the parking is at the Cassidy lot, so you can come back half way to refill water (and restroom if needed). And you can do just chill ride outside the timed segment effort, which can save you water as well. Good luck and have fun in the race!
@@benjapolcycling that’s awesome. Really appreciate it! 🍻
I could hear the mechanical / shifting problem when you go to the main hill at 4:48 I place two towels over my bike so that this type of thig doesn't happen. good race though!
Good afternoon from Australia.
Nice!
Nice run. Which loop has the longer descent?
Loop 3 has a fun fast descend called Hermann's dream. Loop 4 like in this video has longer but more gradual. Good riders still can sustain 20+ mph though.
Hi. What program do you use to display infographics?
It's Garmin VIRB editor - free but old buggy software :)
@@benjapolcycling Thank you. Probably won't work fine with GOPRO 10
What kind of power meter do you use to measure ur watts?
Garmin xc200
Haha I got worried for a moment the cops were gonna stop you. Good ride :)
Got them, 3 punctures in 1.200kms. I will change for Pirelli. They are very fast but I cannot stay on the side of the road as often.
I only got 1 puncture so far since I bought it from single track ride - I remember i hit something pretty hard, and the sealant can be sealed but lose half of the pressure. This is fast gravel race tire, not a touring or endurance tire. This tire kind of suit my style with mixed pavement and smooth gravel ride with speed. Distance-wise, I lose count but I can say I ride a lot of miles with this bike on all kind of surface including easy-intermediate single track and on snow.
@@benjapolcycling Got one more puncture last week, so 4 punctures in about 1200 kms.. Very small cailloux/silex/glass pieces each time. I am going to change them by Rene Herse, it's not possible to puncture so often. So very disappointed on my side.
@@nortcrusader did you run tubeless and if yes... do you maintain sealant properly? If it's glass, any tire except a very special heavy casing, would puncture... if not maintain sealant properly also the same. Good luck with your new tires.
@@benjapolcycling Thank you Ben, yes I maintain sealant, and it made its job. But each time I loose pressure, which is annoying, and I am not anymore reassured
@@nortcrusader i understand and i have the same feeling. that puncture mark become weakest spot in the tire even it's sealed. Also my rear tire is getting worn from many kms and also more prone to puncture now.
you were flying on Robins Ridge!
Thanks for watching. Nah I'm not that fast - the real fast guy never shoot video LOL. I feel both my legs and skills and pump the jump improve a little in 2024, probably I should retake video on this trail to see progress. I have not been to Riverbends trail there since.
Great racing with you today!
I’ll be there for the 2024 race! What bike are you using for this? I’m torn between my Santa Cruz Chameleon or my full squish Trek. I feel like the Trek might be overkill
I use Stumpjumper alloy base model full-sus. I guess I could not give you good advice as I finish ranking 25% from the bottom LOL (it's the rider not the bike). Hardtail or lightweight XC Full-sus probably enough, as you still need to pedal hard at the start, and to maintain speed for small up-hills .
@@benjapolcycling 🤣 thanks man
I'm impressed
Haha, but you actually have the REAL KOM out there 👑👑😁
Hey Ben, I ride with ghosts or virtual partners all the time. One thing I noticed on your video, ghost riders kept ahead of you on these segments, now I don't have Strava, so I don't do them but is this usually the case for Strava segments? Normally they don't keep up well in front of aero bikes and fall behind, but in your case they stayed ahead. Next time try with even more aero TT bikes, you can draft with TT bikes too.
There are some ways to manipulate those ghost crew pacing 😂😂😂 nope, tt bike is not as fast (technically not easy to maintain same effort in the draft and heck a lot harder even in shallow climb ) I have tried it. I was actually surprised rouvy algo how they program the ghost crew pacing. Also all sections come from the same riding day, same outfit.
So light and strong!!
Thanks, but i did not train religiously and strictly like you. Definitely i don't have muscular and sprint power. My best year was 2022. Some chronic injuries still bother me especially on high power zone. Keep up good work and keep in shape, you're doing great.
Nice layout with the data, could be better resolution, hard to make out the actual numbers. We have so many great trails in Michigan, great to see someone share this.
Please blame TH-cam compression for resolution LOL. My footage before uploading has better quality even after render from Garmin Virb at 1080 60FPS. Let me know if you have some trick to improve "TH-cam" quality :D Another sad news is Proud loop 1 will be gone forever in the near future (they will remove access for MTB and change to horse only). Only connector from Garden Rd to Wixom road will only be portion allowed for shared trail.
This is a good race. Well done at the end.
nice video, I did the 50k
