Racing blind to a podium at Fountainhead 2024 (emtb), 15 miles
Lost a lot of time and energy not knowing the course. Countless tiny mistakes and a few majors.
The race organization is great, but Fountainhead trail is ragged and low grip- not up to par with other options

Full Rocacorba climb vs Cannondale Moterra Neo 3 emtb in Turbo mode

With about 230lbs rider&gear on it, this 55lb full suspension bike achieved a cheater KOM on strava's Rocacorba e-bike segment with 49% of battery life remaining. I doubt the rental bike had any performance enhancements, and it was probably suffering degradation from repeated abuse. I completed the climb again a few days later with zero motor assistance and a stuffed camelbak mule. It was hell.

The good old days
is it common to "tailgate" the normal MTBs as you wait to pass?
If you want to be positioned to make a pass with as little disruption as possible to other racers, yes. Does it look dangerous on camera?
Nice video! I'm curious - how do you manage your emtb battery during the race? Does it have enough charge to set it to full power the entire time?
The ebikes have a power mode selector that allows you to detune its responsiveness and force. I am set for 1/3 torque in eco mode (enough to offset the weight a bit), next step up is my downhill mode at about 2/3 (keeps the bike snappy but won't throw me off trail), then full power (which I used 95% of time here), and then the final Red mode "pedals" a couple times after you stop (good for funky root climbs where you might pedal haltingly to manage your balance).
As an engineer, I think you would enjoy the game of testing and manipulating the efficiency/speed of your bike with various tweaks (tire design is a big deal here) vs the elevation gain and terrain you will face.
@@lazyclydesdale499 gotcha, makes sense. I've ridden ebikes before but never an emtb. Red mode sounds fun!
@CarltonMarshall it is really a different sport, but so fun!

You were FLYING!
Thanks, I tried to be quick but patient. Not the easiest balance when your hotel filled the coffee dispenser with espresso (allegedly).
Amazing!!! What a team!!! Love this💜🔥
So good, thank you for making this video. These boys are amazing, great job working as a team! Bravo !
Still miss my border collie. Wonderful, affectionate ,loyal, playful..beautiful.

I've been to that farm on a Collette tour in 2019. Great demonstration of the determination and intelligence of the Border Collie breed. It was just as windy when I was there so most of my video is unusable and I never made a video (maybe I should anyway). There is a good channel on TH-cam of a young shepherd and his dogs with interesting information titled Seanthesheepman on everything about herding and border collies. www.youtube.com/@seanthesheepman5845
So many BC. I’m in love with them. My border collie died 15 years ago and I still miss her.

one of my fav dogs. very intelligent.
