we miss you chet thank you for all you gave us all in entertaining us influencing us and making better people out of us all of us love and miss you terribly hope we get to meet you in heaven when we get there❤❤❤❤❤❤
That was so sad, his dad didn't bring him a present and his stepdad kicked him out, but he ended up being the best guitarist and was known as Mr Guitar. Well done Chet.
The most entertaining guitarist ever.
Great Job Man ❤❤❤
Beautiful and humble man. I didn't know he had to deal with family issues and health concerns for that long period of time!! Yet he is so calm, so refreshing and inspiring to listen to him even talk about life and music. Man I wish we have more of this kind of "Old school" icons in our time!
What a true gentleman and such a gift to our ears when he played.
I’m now in my 70s and seeing my idol , Chet, just now has made me teary eyed 😢. Also: lost my lifelong friend , who was more family than friend . he died 15 months ago.
He was such a dear. God bless him.
That was a treasure of a video …what a guy 😊
Probably the greatest all round guitarist ever. Jerry Reed said much the same thing. It's impossible to play a guitar smoother than the Chief did. His contribution to popular music is incalculable. The world is richer for his presence on it, thanks Chet CGP.
Chet was (mostly) always fun to be around. Inspiring, for sure. But my favorite times were when I got lucky enough to be in the company of him and his brother-in-law, Jethro Burns. The two together should have gone on the road with their battle of the wits & crazy humor! I saw a tense moment once in the alley between the Ryman and Tootsie's. Some drunk happened by, recognized Chet, and started making a fool of himself as he was verbally abusing Chet. Won't post his exact words or actions... but Jethro put a quick end to it. There a couple others nearby. maybe they'll tell the details some day. In any case, I was impressed by Jethro stepping up to the plate!
What a great man,and muscian, he was. I met him in a record store, in Bristol UK. He was makingi his first visit to Britain, to promote his new CD ''Neck and Neck'' the one he made with Britains Mark Knoffler. I joined the queue, and although I had already bought that CD. I bought another copy so I could get close to him, get his signature, and ask a queston or two. Unfortunately, I didn't understand his Western Drawl, and he didn't understand my western drawl either. He kept asking the Guy with him,'What'd 'e say ? I bought Tickets to his Bristol Show that coming weekend. Everyone was expecting Mark Knoffler to join Chet on stage, but sadly, no. BUT , it was a Grrrrrreat show anyway. I must confess that when I first heard Chet's playing, in the 1960's, it was tracks from his Album, ''Chet Atkins Workshop''. and I loved all the electronic gizzmoes on that album, and had absolutely no idea that he was famous for C & W picking, of which he had released many, and that 'Workshop' was a one-off.
Miss him. ❤
a truly amazing guitarist. Missed by so many.
What a wonderful man .. That made amazing lovely beautiful music .
Goodbye Chet. Tommy Emmanuel tells of having a dream after Chet passed and Chet told him he was Ok.
My Dad got the whole family listening to many of Chet's albums and 60 years later I'm still listening to Chet ! On TH-cam...could be they are up there watching all this !!
I'm sure they are. 😊
You listen to Chet on TH-cam and I listen to Floyd on TH-cam. The youth of today really do not know what they have missed.
Can't believe I'll never meet him. I'll never meet so many. They're all gone.
Vale Chet , a consummate guitarist and entertainer , Playing with Angels ,
one of my favourite humans ever!
Genius!!!! My Hero!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! RIP
forever good!
He was more than a guitar player he had humility.
What a tearjerker.
Paul yandell his rhythm guitarist said he worked 24 years with Chet and said they never had a cross word. How many people can say that.
Wow chett remarkable story I'm glad I clicked on it ..sounds very familiar with similaritys to my child hood but I'm not as famous but that's why I turned to music also , there's probably thousands of people like us and always will be but theyl only ever be one world's greatest guitarist 🎸 the late greatt chett Mr yakity axe. 🇺🇸👍👏👏👏👏👏👏👏🏴🥃
So sad. Actually, seeing things like this with Chet always makes me miss him so much. I think it’s because he was a genuinely warm and sincere person and that , in itself, is a rarity ~ ~
What kind of person asks someone if they are used to getting cancer...
Can’t wait to meet Chet Atkins and heaven, and learn some licks!
An autobiography would have been great but I don’t think he did one. God bless him. RIP Chet.
John Knowles, cgp. tells a story of going to lunch with Chet who asked him to stop by a building he owned because he needed to change a ceiling light inside. Knowles was holding the ladder while Chet climbed up to swap the new bulb for the old. Chet looked down and said, "Be careful to hold this ladder real good... I'm kind of a legend you know". 😊 I Loved the man & his music since I was a young boy, never heard a bad word about him from anybody...ever. His touch & tone was unmistakable, you knew it was 'him' from the first note. There aren't many artists with that ability.
I love Chet!
Thanks Chet Atkins for sharing and giving and playing beautiful guitar music all these years!
What a lovely video of our man Chet. Guitarist come and go . But he is still way above in all be accomplished. He worked with the best because he was and still is the Best . C.G.P We still all love you chet 😊
He predicted his own demise you 3 years later, and I hope he's sitting up there, seeing how his influence is still spreading through every advanced guitarplayer alive today. Thank you, for everything, Mr. Atkins.
Wow, what a great and humble man. When he said that he was saying goodbye, and maybe he'll be back sometime, that got me right in the feels, scary to know that your going to die
Such a great man & musician. Your music will live on forever!!
Chet and Jerry will live on forever
I got to meet chet n jerry in monroe louisiana...didn't know who jerry was so when boots randolph said a "young" guitar player was comin out, i rushed down to see him, it was jerry...i'd met him when he pulled boot's bus bck out in the parkin lot...smoked a cigarette with him...i was shocked to see him on stsge!

Tacy ludzie powinni żyć wiecznie...
R.I.P. Rick Chatman you were the best of the best, the epitome of every bullfighter.
When people claim "i was good" it can sound arrogant>>when Chet says it> its just a total understatment> He is the Master
I Love Chat Akines Been playing guitar for 45 years now. Try so hard To play like Chat. But Really hard to do sure Miss him a lot. 🎸🎵🎶
Mother Maybelle loved him with good reason. Simply the greatest music man to have graced the stage
What a lovely guy RIP Chet...
Legendary with love from Nashville.
To the two people who gave thumbs down....**** ***!!!!
I can picture little Chet waiting for the present from his Dad that never came. Thats a hard one. God Bless you Mr Chet!
Great man! thank you so much for what you shared to us. I admire you a lot . wonderful man: all thanks to you. something wonderful i got from you.
You have to hand it to Maybelle Carter and her family: THey were invited to Nashville . Chet was playing with them at that time and , while they were invited to come to Nashville, they were told not to bring the guitar player (Chet Atkins). They refused and finally they were allowed to bring Chet . They were a loyal group and Chester certainly deserved their loyalty . He did not have a racist or bigoted bone in his body . Did not care about what religion one was or what color they were and that’s something , considering where he came from . . .
The Carters were pursued by the Opry and their sponsors for quite a while but the guitar pickers in Nashville didn’t want the competition that they knew Chet would bring. Maybelle was soft-spoken but she and her husband (who was their manager) would not let WSM dictate who they had in their band. Once they were established in Nashville and Chet became the head of RCA, he changed the music coming out of the country studios, for good or bad.
Chet Atkins: everything that a human being can possess that’s admirable . Sorely missed!
What a great description of a remarkable human being.
