Appreciate your insight into your personal beliefs. Me, I’m a 68 yr old devout atheist since I turned 14, raised in a Christian home ( thankfully parents were non devout/fanatics). I believe everyone should be comfortable in their beliefs. I think many religious peoples will feel belittled/threatened with Mr Carlin mocking religion but these belittling and threatening feelings are what all atheists receive from so many religious folk….so it’s fair they experience these feelings also.

I'm a white dude. What he's saying is true. Every race has its version of "low-expectation-having motherfuckers." I went to college in a rural college town in Missouri. There were truly some very impoverished trailer park communities. I have my sympathies, of course, but let's keep it real....they can get violent and ignorant too. Not all of them, of course. Lots of them had an honorable job at the Kawasaki factory. But some of them commit crimes, they have lots of kids without being able to afford groceries, and they prevent lots of improvements to their communities. The few people that got jumped there didn't get attacked by black men. It was trailer park boys.

It would "fly" today if Don Rickles was doing it. Nobody has enough talent to succeed in quite the way he did. Things came out of his mouth no one else could get away with. It's a question of skill. People went to see him in a show knowing exactly what to expect and if they didn't, they had no business being there. Brilliant, one of a kind.

I’m a believer. But have always found this bit funny. The idea of what “God” is up for debate. We have so many denominations in the Christian church, not to mention other religions. It’s not hard to think that “religion” is a human construct. That doesn’t mean you don’t believe, just that some of us have grown tired of religious teachings. I personally think all of us are a part of God, a universal consciousness. The traditional idea of a father figure God is troublesome for me, but there is something that exists around us, in this.

agnosticism is about knowledge. atheism is belief. if your answer to the question "do you believe in a god" is not a yes, then by definition you're an atheist. there are fruitcake in the closet atheists who will disagree with this because they're scared pick a side and try to change the definition though. if you believe in a higher power but not religious then you're just spiritual. but spiritual is a broad term because there are atheists who are spiritual about nature, meditation, etc..
