happy birthday to my favorite man and character ever, we are finally celebrating him on this channel! it took me a while to find a song that I thought was the right one for him but I did it! in fact, this year there was going to be a video for his birthday for sure because I had another song for him, but I decided to change it for this one in september, which is when it came out. everybody say thank you jo jinho! you might recognize his voice if you have watched my we don't talk anymore video (reminder that I used a cover on that one, not the original song). and jinho is a huge imagine dragons fan and I think you really can tell, their influence in this song is undeniable (one of my favorite jinho covers is the one he did of natural but I digress). after realizing that the song is in english during my first listen, I listened to it again paying real attention to the lyrics and knew it had to be for zoro. I briefly considered it for law because I think it kind of fits him as well, but I think the overall sentiment fits zoro even better. constantly trying to surpass yourself and everyone after realizing you were not as half as good in what you do as you thought? very zoro coded, methinks. as you can see, I have chosen ten arcs in which zoro proves to be a loser and the biggest menace to society you can come across. they are in chronological order (except for thriller bark and skypiea, which are swapped but i felt it was necessary to do so) and my idea has been to try to make the video looks busier as the song progresses to show the evolution of zoro's strength. toei’s own evolution in the animation has been of huge help to give that effect but I have chosen some shots very deliberately so that it seems everything is escalating. I don't know if I've achieved it but I'm happy with the result anyway. I thought I wasn't going to get it done in time (I did most of it just this week and I finished it on saturday evening) because I've been all over the place since mid-october and I've been having horrendous trouble concentrating on anything, even before everything that's going on here happened. but I've made it and I hope you enjoy it as much as I enjoyed doing it because it really helped me calm my nerves. I will never underestimate again how powerful is the effect zoro has on me.

happy (no) birthday to donquixote doflamingo, a menacing bitch from start to finish. several characters have been hurt in the making of this video, I’m sorry besties. and thank fucking god I checked the date at the end of last month because I was convinced his birthday was on the 25th. well, the first thought came to me when I went to see barbie in july 2023, based on an idea I had while watching it and then discovered I wasn't the only one: why am I watching ryan gosling cosplaying doflamingo in a movie theater? and I have proof because I posted this on tumblr: zonaenthusiast.tumblr.com/post/724024875453382656/sam-smith-man-i-am-day-1-since-ive-watched this was only a couple of months after I got my idea about usopp and the pretender by lewis capaldi and I dismissed both videos at first for the same reason: that this channel is of zoro and nami mostly together, occasionally separately and sporadically with other people, but the thing is that one of the two is always in the video in question. when this year I finally decided to open the door to individual videos of other characters when I did the usopp one, I knew this was going to be the next one. I'm just ken and this song are so painfully doflamingo, my god. I think this one is more doflamingo coded because of the villainous vibes, but the victimistic tone of I'm just ken is very him too. but this one just makes so much sense, look at those lyrics. istg, sometimes I’m listening to it thinking someone involved had to have doflamingo on their mind while writing it. and the pink of it all is the best plus. this song was perfect because it allowed me to touch on two things. first, my headcanon of bisexual doflamingo: it's canon that he's had some kind of intimate relationship with violet (which I could discuss for hours) but I'm going to die convinced that he's also had them with crocodile and vergo AT LEAST. and second, the dynamics he's had not only with law and his officers, but also with several relevant women in his life, all for the worse because that's the only kind of relationship he knows how to have. violet is the most relevant, she is the main barbie of this video for a reason, but baby 5 and tsuru are there too. even monet. doflamingo’s contradictory behaviour with baby 5 and monet and the damage he has done to their already traumatized minds still haunts me to this day. on the other hand, I've always loved the particular detail that, of all the marines out there, tsuru is the one who has always made doflamingo sweat, the one who truly bothers him and brings down his arrogance. I find it very significant because of the specific type of person doflamingo represents. and the timing for this video has been perfect because it turns out I procrastinated a lot until about ten days before posting it and in those days everything that could happen has happened, doing most of this in a bad mood and one step away from becoming a supervillain myself has been cathartic and super fun. especially because I really wanted to highlight some ass moments from the anime. these are some of the worst animated arcs and I had to take the opportunity. ps: that fuckass diamante clip… I just had to.

my god, FINALLY i had the first idea for this video last year and the intention of this video was always to be goofy and silly but behind its goofiness and silliness i like my videos to still have some coherence and parallels between the different parts. so when i sat down to start this video in may/june 2023 and realized it wasn't coming together the way i wanted it to, i stopped. this is the video i was referring to in this community note: th-cam.com/users/postUgkxH3SLlDmiK8_M3ysntIT6JTkCg4IxTFyu i didn't touch it again until august this year and got stuck again, made the last short i've uploaded to the channel, stopped again and this week i tried again. and here we are. this song will have its counterpart, we'll see when i'll make it because other videos have priority right now. i don't want to say which ones or in what order because i have three fronts open in terms of birthdays, anime and live action. but i hope you'll see a lot of things here between now and the end of the year.
