    Hello, sorry for the inconvenience. I bought a hoist like the one in the video 3 years ago here in Florida, it is 110V 1300 W 60 h. I took it to Peru in South America where the current is 220 V, so I bought a 3000 W 60 H transformer. I installed and connected but it never worked, it only sounds trac trac and it doesn't turn, I don't know if it's because of the very low transformer, the brake or the capacitor. The problem is that I can't bring it to Florida for a travel matter. Could you give me an idea of what could be the fault. Thank you very much for your help

    I know in the video that Chuck said he had to overcome issues such as a stuck relay. Does anyone know what he was referring to? And how to fix? I suspect I have the same issue as I know it is wired correctly.

    I have a similar situation but the wire colors are different so I'd like to know what each wire is for coming out of the receiver box. Mine are black is power 1,white is power 2,orange is common,red is main, yellow is up,blue is down,grey is ro(receiver only)/start.So I'm trying to cross reference the wires to hook it up properly.any help would be appreciated,thanks.

    Thanks for taking the time to post this video. This wireless remote installation is very elusive on the internet. I have an 220/440lb electric hoist and want to use this controller. Since my hoists spec sheet says the unit draws only 3.9 amps, would I have to install additional relays? Or would the Obohos control blow fuses like it did on your setup?

      @@jordanniagara3131Hey I'm just wondering did your wireless remote system have a operating voltage of 12 or 24 volts? I'm confused as to how a 12 or 24 volt receiver can operate a 120 volt winch. I have 3 of these hoists with a remote system that look super similar to this one in the video but my remote has. North, South, East, West, Up and down buttons to operate up to 3 hoists.

    Chuck and Drew...hey, I want to thank you two for your great information on how to get this hoist working...thank you so much. BUT, I'm like Uane stated below, I would LOVE to know HOW to wire up what you have with the two 20 amp relays. My email address is d1sirrish@gmail.com if you ever have a wiring diagram...or even better yet...a video showing a novice electronic guy like myself step by step how you got the hoist working. I am using the exact same hoist that you, Chuck, used in your video. I wish you guys were closer, I live in West Salem, Oregon. I'd be GLAD to operate the camera to help you shoot a video about this. There are a LOT of people who use Harbor Freight hoists...and it would be a GREAT SERVICE to have this process well documented and easy to follow and understand. Thanks again...RISH

    Well Chuck...YOU are the MAN!!! I can't tell you how much I appreciate all your efforts and experimentation and trial and error in trying to get your wireless hoist operational. THANK YOU SO MUCH. I just happen to be---at this very time---looking for the HOW's to wire a wireless controller to the EXACT same hoist you have used for your demonstration. Your timing [in my case] is PERFECT. I am a draftsman so I will try to draw up what you have said and try to get it on a drawing with a step by step process; because I believe that there are a LOT of people wondering how to do what you did; as Harbor Freight hoists are very popular because of their reasonable cost. If I get that together, I will write to you again and get your email address so that I can send the diagram to you...so you can see if I have it right. That will also help your viewers. But...[I read before I sent this comment] I see that your hoist under load blows fuses. Can you make another video and show how you overcame that...and then send me a notice when you have it up? d1sirrish@gmail.com RISH is the name. I won't buy the HS-4 and install it until I can see how to make sure it works. I am lifting a very important load and it can't blow a fuse.Thanks, RISH

    Sry guys, I had to order a new wireless controller. My boy was playing with my wench while I was working and lost the controller.... I'm looking at a 4 week back order. Soon as I get it I will post a very detailed part 2 on how I done the relays. Even if I could find a wiring diagram I don't know how much good it would do because it seems every one of these Chinese wenches have a different diagram or different color wires or a different amount of wires. Not to say it can't be done, because I'm sure it can just not off the exact instructions I would give!

    I am desperately trying to get some information on hooking up An. ( OBOHOS) model HS - 4 wireless remote. To work with the Pittsburgh automotive 2000 lb electric hoist from harbor freight. I have been trying for days to get this thing to work I get close but all I can get it to do is click in and hum it will not turn but if I use the handheld it works perfectly. I must be doing something wrong or overlooking something I'm not sure. There was a man online who had one of these remote control units working with a pa800 hoist from China. he even posted a diagram that I downloaded and I followed but it doesn't seem to work with the Pittsburgh hoist the wiring is a wee bit different. Again I am trying to hook up a ( OBOHOS) model HS - 4 wireless remote. To my Pittsburgh automotive 2000 lb hoist from harbor freight. there are two capacitors in this unit I just need some guidance. if anyone can help me with this, I would appreciate it. Thank you in advance. My name is Larry and my email is neelwell3@gmail.com

    have you tried out yours under load and it works? I am having problems blowing the 5A fuse. Your motor is rated at 9Amps, and mine at 13Amps, but the unit has a 5Amp fuse. I would think running it with a load will cause the fuse to blow. Have you had any problems?

    • @chuckd387
      @chuckd387 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I ran it under load a lot, but it did blow the fuse about once a week. You have to wire in 30 amp relays

  • @skysailorman

    Thanks for the video. The HS-4 isn't designed to control the winch directly. Only has 5 amps it can deliver. (Even though the board mounted relays can provide 10amp if they had set it up that way). You need to wire this unit into a set of relays that then power the winch. I have chosen some 30-amp DPST relays from TE Connectivity. Part number from Allied electric is T92P7A22-120. Use two of these in place of the pendant switch. Now the unit should work as you want it to.

      skysailorman please post detailed pictures! Agree with you 100%. keeps popping fuses about once a week.

    • @DrewJHarrison
      @DrewJHarrison 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for creating this video. So you are still blowing fuses with this setup? Would make sense since it looks like the load current is still running through the 5 amp fuse. Got mine to work the same way you wired it but was thinking I may have to wire relays in due to the load. If that’s the case separate box would just need to be setup with 2 DPST relays the guy mentioned above. The grey and white would be used to trigger each relay and send the common/neutral to the motor/capacitor. Only thing I’m unsure of is who this capacitor is supposed to be integrated into the circuit (Series? Parallel?). Bout to throw this thing up in an attic that would be difficult to access later so want to make sure I got the wiring right before.

    • @chuckd387
      @chuckd387 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes I got it working properly, you definitely need a couple 30 amp relays wired in or it will just keep popping the fuse. mine has two capacitors and they are wired parallel

      Got mine required and working but used 2 different 20A relays that come with an enclosure. Specifically I used 2 the RIB2401B. I also just wrapped up the extra 24v trigger wire and NC wire and left them inside the enclosure. Will post photos of the final wiring and setup. Photo of how I mounted the 2 relays. Just used velcro to attach them to the hoist. Used heatshrink tubing on the wires. Used grommets I had laying around both going into the control box and the relays and sealed off the relays with 2 screw in caps from an assorted kit I got on amazon. As stated before 2 of the unused wire I just wrapped up and stuck inside the relay enclosures. photos.app.goo.gl/tnvH6KSyAx6hZxwA6
