NHL and everything else hockey related
This NHL Goalie NEEDS More Attention..
Kevin Lankinen has done wonders for the Vancouver Canucks this season, however will it last? And can Vancouver afford to resign him next season?

The NHL is Struggling..
มุมมอง 10K14 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา
The NHL is on the decline, competing with other sports have become a struggle in the modern day attention span driven content.
What gets me is how ESPN+ seems to have a monopoly on games. Seems to be anti-trust issue. Pro sports are exempt from antitrust because they make the sport available. But ESPN+ shouldn’t be exempt. ESPN 1 and 2 used to show games. Now it’s all on +. So if I get + will they create a ++ network next? Will come a day when all local rinks will be converted to pickleball venues.
Too hard to find to watch anymore. Have to pay everywhere to watch a game.
doesnt help if u wanna watch live its gonna cost you like $500 for just 2 ppl ,unless u get the cheapest seats and dont eat or drink anything ,friging beer at rogers in edmonton is like $12 lol worst fing arena to less bathrooms then the old one and they are half the size and now theres x2 more places to eat smh almost pissed myself twice when i was there ,if i ever go there again im wearing a diaper ,built a casino connecting to it and u cant leave to go throw some cash down during intermissions or leave at all to go smoke .smh like wtf was the point of doing that ,old arena had smoking areas outside u can get to from inside was like a patio area and you could also leave and come back in if u have ur ticket stubb .
rogers has the rights as far as i kno and yea they have 7 channels in canada alone and they show the same damm game on everyone or 2 games and tsn barly has games on and those games are only the canadian teams playing could be 10 games on but if only one canadian team is playing thats the only game they will show absolutely retarded not everyone in canada is a fan of a canadian team and vice versa ,only way to actually watch the games you want is to pay for the sportsnet app which is a rogers app ,youd think it would be free if your paying for satellite but nope $100 plus for basic package and they want another $150 for the app ,.
53 year old Leafs fan here. Last season I only watched the playoffs (that Oilers run was pretty amazing!) This season I haven’t watch a single game. I cancelled my Sportsnet subscription too. Between all the sports betting ads (and associated bs) and the terrible league “discipline” especially against headshots, I’m done. I’ve been watching the free PWHL games, and it’s beautiful hockey to watch!
I have noticed he gets beaten high glove a lot.
Kevin Blankinen
Pay to view tV games is out of control When it used to be free on TV
Pronounced “Besser”, not “Boh-sir” Otherwise, great video.
Good video but why do you talk so slowly and pronounce every player’s name wrong? Lol
Cant stand digital ads. I don't want to see a car driving around the boards when i'm watching a hockey game.
one thing that bugs me is how incestuous the sport is, pretty much every player is only there because of who their parents are. it reminds me of hollywood. i think that's why they tend to have no charisma and are impossible to relate to. that kind of thing matters for enjoyment of a sport. it's such a shame because the game itself is the best of the mainstream professional sports by far.
Cool videos man keep it up doing really well. Btw i make videos too hope for the best for your channel. Hope for more videos like this sooner or later.
Canucks got the deal of the decade signing him
It feels like every sport is declining in viewership at some point or another...
Too many ads, jerseys with corporate ad Patch's . Sports gambling ads got annoying , regional blackouts being forced to stream . Agenda nights that nobody asked for
Lanky for starter not demko !!!
It's the same as Politics. When you have a bunch of old white guys in control who are greedy asf & out of touch, the product becomes greedy & out of touch as well. Thankfully Bettman hasn't proven to be a rapist and criminal.....yet?
Lankinen is gonna get a bag this coming off-season
If Demko plays like his old self we should trade Lankinen or at least his signing rights near or at the end of the season since his value is so high now we could get a solid draft pick and/or maybe a top 4 defenseman. Hate to see him go hes become the best signing of the off season.
Try being an Avalanche fan in Denver. Altitude Sports Network and Comcast have been at each other's throat for the better part of six years and as a result jettisoned Comcast subscribers to pirated feeds for two local National Championship teams with two league MVPs
If the Canucks didn’t have a shot at western/cup finals I’d say give him a longer look, but Canucks are good right now and I’d ride the proven goalie in Demko. Unfortunately, like Bo Horvat, Lanks greatness this year will price him out of the backup salary range in the offseason. Unless he takes less money, which no one would advise, he’s gone next year.
@@glgl7676 everyone knows he’s here for just a year. The whole point of coming to the Canucks was so he could get his bag next year
Lankinen > Kiprusoff
1993 the last time a Canadian team won . What did you think was going to happen to interest in Hockey ? If you used ten years old as a baseline for remembering a cup win . You would have to be 40 year old or older to remember seeing a Canadian team win the cup . The ice surface is too small. European rinks would be better .
When I was a kid, it was relatively easy to follow the puck, because the boards were all white, and the ice had only the red and blue hockey lines, and no adverts on jerseys or equipment. Now, all of that is gone, and the NHL playing surface is well on it's way to matching the European pro hockey experience where EVERYTHING works to distract me from following the puck.
Not to mention the quality of the game itself. There are so many blocked shots nowadays that it’s pretty much a miracle when a shot actually makes it to the net. Players deliberately deflecting pucks out of play when someone tries to take a slapshot is incredibly anticlimactic. Little to no consistency in how penalties are called: one player does one thing, it gets called; another player does that same thing, no call. There are so many bad calls or missed calls, it’s ridiculous.
i think he's doing great but we need to calm tf down with the contract signings and a pay raise for him. Having a good 20 something game to a season is not a proven goalie. Look at andrew hammond, putting up better numbers in half a season only to be forgotten about the next season. Even if lankinen has an outstanding end to the season, theres no gurantee he will return to form next season. He's making what 900k? He deserves 1.5 max next season until he can prove himself again. On that note, i'm amazed at the canucks' ability to keep finding these top tier goalies throughout the years. This goes back all the wat to loungo/schneider era. Ever since then we have not struggled with goaltending and that is a huge blessing
6:37... did you miss this entire end to the video. He already clearly states this same thing.
The officials are the worst they have ever been the dops have zero concern for player safety more garbage expansion teams watering down the league Talent as a fan of the game my entire life it's getting more disgusting every year
Canucks won't be giving up Lank this year I'm pretty sure. he's so valuable and honestly I would give up Boeser before I gave up Lank if I had the choice.
He's getting plenty of attention hard not to notice top five for wins Stellar saves every game
I googled CFL salary cap. 5.2 million CDN. How many players are there on a football team? My NHL team has 4 players on it that make much more than 5.2 million US. Each. That’s the problem. Couple the enormity of ticket/subscription prices with the fact that most hardcore hockey fans also play and have kids that play and ask the question, who has that kind of money?
I haven't been able to watch for four or five years. They make it harder to watch, I've had to read more books and find other things to do. Also, it isn't appealing to have moving ads on the boards while play is going on, or having ads on helmets and jerseys. VERY ANNOYING.
6:24 😂
Does this account for views only on ESPN or is it also on Hulu? I now only watch on Hulu because it’s easier and included with other subscriptions.
This is what happens when you don’t market your sport
nhl better not be cancelled, we just got our #1 draft pick in san jose...
I always thought he could be a starter when he was with the Preds, he always had to play cold for us so it masked how good he was somewhat, but you could tell he was too good to be a backup
w vid deserves more likes
He beat out Korpisalo for the 4 nations spot and I'm fairly sure it was Korpi who got so mad that he got himself blackballed from future Finland rosters.
Lankinen is the clear choice of the two, no contest. Korpisalo would probably be the first to admit this so not sure what you're on about
Korp lost the spot to a goalie on a bottom 5 team and a guy who wasn't signed in july. It might be him.
Solid guess best one ive heard so far
@@Cobra85291 certainly still a guess. i dont have any extra information.
@@ObscureReference9Lankinen plays for the Canucks which are far from a bottom 5 team. They are currently 10th in the nhl with a record of 15-8-5.
Hockey is going to be on the same level as MMA and boxing. You can't just build rinks everywhere. You can't just lower costs of equipment, because it is what it is. It will always be a niche sport. NFL is massive, but I bet most fans have never played in their entire lives. Hockey should embrace fantasy sports a lot more. It needs viral social media marketing campaigns run by Gen Z staff and not old people. The NHL needs to embrace e-sports just like how the NFL does with Madden. The NHL should design good looking merchandise with unique style.
ever since the covid shortened 2020-2021 season, the nhl has been nothing but soft
As a swede, he is solid, he will give tre kronor one hell of a fight
He’s Finnish brotha
@@JakobKozey no fucking way??? why i tell people that he is giving tre kronor a fight, You ride the short yellow bus?
@@jimmygadd then why you say as a Swede nothing had to do with swedens don’t just include a different species lol
@@JakobKozey we are the same race, we are nordic people
@@jimmygadd good point I’m Finnish too he’s a stud regardless
Oilers were the only team that destroyed him. Ending his 10-0 record on the road. Defence from Canuck’s was not on par.
Wasn’t that the wild?? And only beat him in ot what game were you watching? When was this 10-0 game
@@justinclowes1154Maybe try reading his comment again… He never said they beat them 10-0, he said they ended his 10-0 record.
@@diamondautopg8556 yeah and he's wrong it was minnesota, and the game was lost in overtime
What do you mean? He has all the attention right now. The record start. You make it sound like you’re the only one seeing this, but you’re just parroting what people have been saying for at least a month.
not in the east lol
I'm white, but SGA and Jamal Murray are more relatable to me than private school kids. Pat Quinn was relatable but that era is gone. I'll watch the 4 Nations Faceoff but it doesn't feel like any of those Canada players could've been my neighbour like watching Team Canada in other sports.
I remember in peewees we'd get 2 minutes shifts, about 5 or shifts in a game, you hardly got a chance to skate with the puck, just carrying the puck alone is great icetime, but it's almost unreachable, it's all about icetime. Frozen ponds in the winter was great, we'd skate all day, my mother, God bless her, pulled the car up and put the headlights on the pond so we could stay longer, you can bet, every NHL player started very young and had access to a lot of ice time.
Exactly why I don't get the nhl pkg because because it still has a blackout
If he doesn’t get a contract north of 3 mil AT THE VERY LEAST next season I don’t think he’s staying. But I hope they offer him like a 5 year 4-5 mil per year deal
I don't think the Canucks can afford a contract with him at $4-5M. If that ends up being his ask, I'd bet he gets traded instead. But it all depends on if Demko can stay healthy for the remainder of the season. If he gets hurt again, then they may be forced to keep Lankinen, as I don't think Silovs is ready to be a regular in the NHL.
It's gonna be tough with the salary cap, but they might figure it out. They did trade off some contracts and salary last year so they could have the cap space for Dakota Joshua, so maybe they'll be able to make it work salary-wise.
TSN can film part 2 series of Louie and Schnider (featuring Demko and Lakinen)
They are greedy and have overpriced their tickets. Many fans have stopped going. It's mostly corporate tickets now.
110% not interested in the gambling advertising on NHL broadcasts.
