The palisades were on the original plan for day 1 but that got changed due to a permit issue. By day 6 everyone was anxious to get home! 😂

😂 Was wondering when someone was going to ask! Teen girl with Outward Bound group on the other side of the lake was having trouble with all the insects at their latrine. Went to the campsite of our other group to see if theirs was better and they told them that we had a little pop up tent protecting ours. So they paddled over to use ours.

For sure - we definitely got lucky. Lots of portages washed out the next day and the Gunflint had lots of trees down that were cleared by the time we headed out. Whitecaps on Seagull on our paddle the next day - wait till you see that video!

Hey thanks. Yeah they were annoying but manageable. Never had a problem on the water and most of the time there was enough wind to knock them down by the shoreline at camp. Needed headnet and bug dope in the woods.

Yeah it’s crazy. You can tell within 10 minutes if the fish are in there. If not, you gotta get out on the lake.

We usually go out of the public access at Waskish in the river but it can get pretty crowded. Good fishing though!

Unfortunately no. I’m not even sure it’s possible to enter. I thought they said these ruins were basically the main foundation of the structure.

It really didn’t. There are so many activities and areas that help to spread people around. You will want to go early if you want a chair by the pool or in the shade on the pool deck on a sea day, though. They fill up quickly!

Cruising is such a great vacation option. So much to do and eat. Prices are still pretty high, but it’s still a good value. Hopefully prices will come down a little in the near future. @@patchinfamily it’s been kind of mind boggling to me to see the north put the blame on wolves on dwindling numbers when disease and years of past harsh winters are more prevalent than wolves. Yes there are more wolves but they aren’t the main reason. Black bear populations have exploded in Wisconsin and they are moving to MN. People never bring up that their favorite food are fawns. People never bring up Canadian deer hunters and the fact that there are more wolves there than here. Wildlife gonna wildlife and there’s nothing we can do about it.

@@EugeneYus Yeah it is definitely a combination of factors. We've always had wolves and bears in our woods. They have been prominent on our trail cameras ever since we starting hunting there. The winters have been the worst culprit in my opinion, though the DNR tried to manage our area for moose several years ago and deer and moose don't generally get along so the DNR worked to reduce the deer herd and gave out too many doe permits. That worked to reduce the deer herd, but the moose never really moved in. So I think we are still recovering from all of the above. This winter has been pretty mild (so far), so hopefully we will get some good reproduction in the spring.

Good eye on the French onion soup! Most of that was edited out, but it did result in a wardrobe change. I will be interested to hear if Carnival starts charging for extra tails. Seems once one company does something to make/save money, the others soon follow. Not a special "dinner," but you are close! You are correct with the final answer though! Our assistant waiter had word puzzles or riddles for us just about every dinner. So we had to come up with one for him on our last night in the MDR. The servers are always so great!
