I remember specifically making the trip to Kansas City to check out T-Rex, because of the news that one was coming to Walt Disney World. I think I last visited the WDW version in 2019 (?) and it was still there. So many Rainforest Cafes and such have closed. It was an interesting era of themed dining.

What has changed?

The Epcot version kept the immediate jump-cut.

Remember, it is not 4K resolution -- it is presented as a 4K window in to an 8K video. That means looking forward, left, right, back, up and down are all shown as 4K, but all the pixels the camera recorded in those directions were 8K. If you just had those six directions (up, down, left, right, forward, backwards) with 8K pixels, you have about 1.3K in each direction.

Do we know when that change happened? I recall in preshows with many monitors, like MuppetVision 3D, they would have one or two with subtitles on, at some point, but I do not recall subtitles at all in the early days.

For Florida, I'd have to go back before FedEx, when that "house of the future" thing was at the exit Speed Ramp. For Disneyland, I think I'd be right around this version with the original soundtrack.

I think there are a bunch of uploads of this VHS already.

The music of the Pier area all the way around was one of the best things about DCA, with each attraction playing "its part" of the main songs -- bubbles near the Jumping Jellyfish was always my favorite, with the Bee Buzzes near the bee hive my second favorite.

No, just whatever might have been playing in the clips I shot. I am pretty sure the entire loop with all the variations has leaked. Look up Mouse Bits, if it still exists -- they had a ton of DCA 1.0 sound.

Back then, it was kind of a big deal to catch something like this, but today, everyone has a video recorder on them, so there are endless videos of everything.

1998 was also a different time. I only made all my TH-cam channels this year, so most of my old stuff was here on my original account. I plan to move all my Disney stuff over to the Park Hopping thing. (I’m old. Started posting Disney stuff online in 1996 on my photo site.)

I recall it had one good bit of air time. I’ve seen photos of the Super Screamer, all repainted and operating on at another location. Seems like several former Adventureland rides (Lighthouse, most recently) are still going strong elsewhere.

The upscaling software does not preserve audio, but future upscaled videos will be re-edited to include it.

The Space Mountain video scheduled for 3/21 will be the first test of getting audio back with the upscaled video.

I don’t have them from this 2001 visit, but I have dozens of tapes from other years that I will be working up to. I will watch for any video I have of that area. I always liked how the boardwalk soundtrack merged from area to area, using bubble sounds near jumping jellyfish, etc. The only other park I have been to that has done something as integrated with their audio is Islands of Adventure, specifically their Toon Lagoon area.

I do not think I ever recorded video on Orange Stinger, but I may have some video of it running. I don’t recall ever riding Jumping Jellyfish, but I may have some footage from later years.
