This Is Why Mercury Thermometers Are Not Allowed On Flights
มุมมอง 3.3Kหลายเดือนก่อน
Mercury isn’t allowed on airplanes because it can be highly damaging to aluminum, which is widely used in aircraft construction. Aluminum is strong, lightweight, and resistant to corrosion, making it ideal for aircraft. However, mercury can cause a serious type of corrosion known as “liquid metal embrittlement” when it comes into contact with aluminum. When even a small amount of mercury touche...

Mechanical Binary Counter Demo - Visualizing Binary Counting
มุมมอง 3.7K2 หลายเดือนก่อน
A fully functional Mechanical Binary Counter! This device showcases how binary numbers can be represented and counted using mechanical components, making it a great educational tool for anyone interested in both mechanics and computer science. Watch as the counter flips through numbers in binary form and see the physical representation of computing in action!
Shouldn't there be LOTS more? Seems like there's only one that might go the distance and that seems odd too.

My bad, sorry 😂
Did you nut on your microscope dish?
i used to be cum
Very interesting
2:10 okay I has questions 1. What is all the junk floating by that definitely doesn’t look like sperm? 2. Why do people think that these microscopic packages of cells smooshed with a slightly larger package of cells is a living human?? Like the cells have only divided to make it not microscopic, but it doesn’t even resemble a human. It’s still a ball of cells. Why do they consider it to be a living human with rights when it’s not gotten that far yet. Technically it’s nothing more than a tumor.
Who made the ultimate sacrafice to attain this sample?
Himself maybe
In the beginning..

You ever see the deformed sperms with like elongated heads and three tails. WTF type of baby would that produce. 😂 seriously though.

Gallium is way worse for aluminum
What the heck just happened, tho?
Mercury enters the metal and makes it so easy to break. It may rip a hole in plane
i heard with only 2 and a half thermometers we could take out half of the air force...
What a strange phrase. Wouldn’t it be better to say that you could take out the entire airforce with only five thermometers? 🤔
Can mercury thermometers be seen by airline x-ray machines?
I would think so. It's still a metal. If it didn't the glass would show up
Yes but nobody is going to recognize it. A small, thin line of metal could be anything. It's not a shape that any person or recognition algorithm will have been trained to spot.
Yes, Hamed they can.
Would be easy to sneak on a plane, right?
Interesting

Funny . . . [EDIT] many, not all, of the boomers, who are pretend to be experts on all things electronic, have conditioned me to expect something like the detonation of the Fat Man or Little Boy devices. Instead, we get a neat little firecracker. There wasn't even the "fire that can't be extinguished".
Boomer here/ Nothing electronic about it. Good a use as any for a button top, I suppose. My mods have required flat tops for years.
@@Michael-k3k6u What does flat vs button have to do with anything? Nobody cares what cells your douche-flute uses.

Really nice idea the ant 🐜 over there experienced a nuclear bomb😂
The clicking sound is so satisfying
This is so cool!
That is such a cool contraption!
I can explain this!! Each value, starting from the right, increases by double each time. So the furthest right would be one, then two, then four, then eight, then sixteen… etc. if there is a one, then you are using that value as part of your number. If there is a zero, then you are not! So for example, if we have the binary number 1101, the first digit is a one so you will add 1 to your value, and the second is a zero so you won’t be using that, the third is a one so add 4, and the fourth is a one so add 8, coming with your total number being 13! I can try to answer questions if it’s too confusing :D
13! is a very large number

did anyone else learn to count binary on their hands?
It would be a lot easier to count in base 8 then convert to binary.
thanks for explaining binary easy
I have never understood how everything can be 0 and 1. This makes it super easy to understand the *how*, even if I’ll never be able to look at a sequence and read it.
I love it!!!
Excellent!
My favorite part is that it gets harder to turn as you go.
A binary abacus? fantastic!
This gave me the best grasp on binary I've probably ever had. And it helps explain the "and/ or" thing. thank you
Great design. 👍
yup
this is why large numbers are expensive to compute, It's harder for the computer to flip the left-most bits
🤣
The more you go the 'index' power you need
i just noticed that the number on top of the ones are showed when that amount of spins on the first one are spun ex: the number 32 is on the one so the first one is spun 32 times to show the number 32 that’s on top of the one
pretty cool 👍
1+1=3
Huh? No it doesn’t?

Each digit has a value assigned. And each digit is twice what the one before it is. I'll break it down 128 64 32 16 8 4 2 1 So if there's a 1 in any of those positions, or bits, then you add everything up. For example 00101010 you add 32 + 8 + 2 = 42 01000101 = 64 + 4 + 1 = 69
