Some years back myself and Tom used to follow Stock Car Racing, On acquiring a Sanyo camcorder we decided to try and film some of the meetings. We recorded many meetings between 1991 and 1995. Our commentary is slightly tongue in cheek, it's basically us taking the pee out of ourselves so please don't take us seriously we were very young and just doing what we did (we knew we're crap lol) Some of the footage is okay so I figured I'd finally post it in the public domain. If your a driver that we had a dig at don't take it personally.

Tony Blackburn serenaded at Hartlepool

I regret not visiting Hartlepool more often, It was always fun there, despite not many F1 drivers bothering to go because *it was too far* I don't know who the MC was but he was always very entertaining,

Think this was built up to be more than it actually was, Finnikin even drove his car round onto the centre green.

The battery was running on fumes on this one. For some reason I didn't upload this race with the rest of the meeting some years back.

great upload this when racing was racing was good then great track to now gone
Used to love this place as a kid. We used to go all the time and we also used to race our greyhound’s here too
i miss this track so much
Great stuff. Brings back many happy memories. Thanks
Willie Harrison was my idol as a young boy .
I lived in Sandiacre, my parents always used to take me to the stock cars. Absolutely loved it,Coventry too and Skegness. Crying shame what's happened, so many memories.
Dave berisford sadly passed away this week
Proper racing
I thought it was bang out of order by John Lund , he was at least a lap down after his earlier crash . So nothing to gain except injury and an expensive repair for Wainman junior
Fantastic Video!! Brings back soooooo many memories of my childhood!! David Baker (and the rest of the Bakers) are my dads cousins so we would regularly visit Birmingham Wheels and Hednesford Hills to watch the Baker Boys and later Birmingham Wasps!!
Do you have 640
What did it say on that airplane banner?
Us commentators are usually looking at the wrong turn as well. I recall one meeting at Northampton when not ten seconds after I mentioned Tom Harris and Dan Johnson had been feuding one followed the other in flat out and I had looked away from them. I was so furious with myself I smashed the microphone!
It's frustrating isn't it, when I was doing it I was so mad at myself when I missed something huge like cars launching up our grass banks and stuff lol Only way I could combat it was buying go-pros and getting a good wide shot so I didn't have the temptation to pan with what I thought was the action and miss the real actual action lol
I still remember the F1's ripping out a girder infront of my dad and I on turns 1 and 2 great memories of that track.
👍
Old school , loving this , many a Sunday watching as a kid 😊
Takes me back.... many happy Sunday afternoons at Hartlepool and Aycliffe Stadium.
Please tell me you still have day 2 . I’m the driver of that funny shaped car.. 😂 660 (Morris Oxford) aka Bombay taxi.
If only it were still open. Great days.
Of course, in the early day those aerofoils or whatever they call them on the roofs of the cars were not used! I have some old b&w prints (well-worn now) taken with an old box camera of some of the cars in the pits in the seventies. I must try and get them digitalised. There's a book about Long Eaton Speedway - bot nothing about the Stox. Occasionally Stock Car racing featured on ITV's Sunday sports programme but as far as I know it was never filmed at long Eaton - usually Northampton (Brafield) or elsewhere. The stadium went into liquidation (well it's owners did) in 1995 so all racing ended and it lay idle till it was bulldozed in 2010 - a very sad day.
Closed 1995. Bulldozed for housing 2010. I was there in the early 70s - the glory days.
Last meeting was in 1997. I first went in 1979 and always enjoyed the racing there.
Always found this hilarious!
Love how you choose exactly the correct theme tunes for each slide show - the rolling laps tunes for each track!
Remember that race well just didn't have the power
A good nights racing.
Don’t know why John Lund spit his dummy like that, it was a fair move from FWJ.
<B 260
The MC was Richie "Madcap" Monkhouse, he always took great pride in winding up the drivers!
Thanks for reminding me, his name comes back to me now, I remember a saloon stox had sponsorship from 'The Carpet Doctor' he was joking about his carpet having piles 😂
Still one of my favorite races EVER, a proper bumper fest!
N
Great video as always.Do you guys still go to watch Stock Cars?.
No friend, I've not been for a long time.
@@djhvideos5416 Same here when Stu Smith,Dave Mellor,Mick Noden,Mike Close,Harry Smith,Len Wolfenden,Willie Harrison,Burt Finnikin all retired lost interest.

I loved that track.
Yes Skegness and Boston on the same day, great times.
I live down the road from where the track use to be.. We need another NorthWest Track... Esp now Odsal is coming back.
Is it a supermarket now?
My dad's car got broken into when parked around the corner from the stadium. 🤣
I was at this meeting it was my first ever visit to Brandon it would be great if the place could be brought back.
The weekends i wasted, watching this. I'll never get them back.
Just think of the poor sods that are still watching the modern 'stock car' racing.
Fantastic, I was stood right behind you at the back of the stand. Never missed a meeting great times.
Getting us through lockdown these cheers DJH Videos 👌

Good upload mate. Best track ever.

Orite bud got a question for you ..did stinkbridge used to be called hartlepool ram brigade ??
Many thanks for all the video's lads.
I remember the old stock buses coming to LE as early 90s my mum and dad ran the off licence on corner of Recreation Street opposite Tenants Chippy. We loved Wednesday and Saturday nights. Nottingham road was always full of double parked cars each side the road. We could hear the stocks in Toton and sometimes if the wind blew right, in Sawley too. It was a very "community' thing for LE and put us on the map. Speedway too built our town for many years. Shame it's all gone 😒 now we just concrete jungle with a potential stupid bread knife on its way to cut LE in two that we don't need. Just electrify the MML and make do with what we have to save the Biodiversity of our town and countryside.
I was there and the chippy is still there. We used to park in a little car park in a side street opposite the main entrance on Station Road - some sports ground I think. Now the track is a pile of dolls' houses and a complete eyesore. All the promises of re-opening the track never happened and it wasn't because any locals complained. Seeing those stox coming through the bends and overtaking the slower cars was fantastic.
I remember it well.
A fantastic film--so many memories of PROPER stock car racing, and a wonderful track.
Awesome. I was there. Good times.
Lights go at 12:00

Good to have films like this. Go to the site now and all you`ll find is another bloody Morrisons store.
I was standing not far off you. Best track ever. Good post.
