    Hey Landon. Nice video. Where did you get the springs and bushings for the camper mounts?

    • @addieslist

      www.mcmaster.com/ It is a quick ship distributor and you pay a premium for it but they have all the specialty hardware. That is where I got the bushings and springs.

    I like your set up very practical build low impact having owned a few teardrops you don’t usually stand up in those most of my time was spent outside. Next set up will be a truck topper on a short bed. I’m also a little shorter at 5,7 will sleep diagonally.

    Great build working on a similar camper for my Taco. How is the driving noise and general driving heating and ac in the cab with the pass through ?

    I camped in Yellowstone in -13F. My Four Wheel Camper Popup with insulation “Arctic “ pack had so much condensation on the roof and flexible walls I thought I wasn’t going to be able to close it without damage. However, my dog and I breathing added moisture and we kept it just above freezing all night with the propane furnace to conserve fuel. It’s tough finding propane refills over holidays. We probably should have left more of a vent open. And during my second year, it did leak when you drove in a hard rain with the roof collapsed and stored. I now have an insulated Sprinter 4x4 with Diesel Heater. No condensation and way too warm inside.

    This is one thoughtful, organized, durable and overall smart build. He included fixes and other beneficial changes most would never even consider. Great video too - Thanks for sharing your build, showing the details and explaining why you did what you did and how it benefits the rig.

    That is super cool, one of the best camper boxes I've seen for how small it is. I'm planning a small low head height camper trailer and how you've done things has given me a few ideas. What are the rough external measurements of the box itself?

    I would highly recommend adding a set of spindle trusses. They are inexpensive, but really beef up your spindles. Having had one break on me the weak point is towards the top near the upper ball joint. If your good with a welder you can do it, or have a shop do them. All in all its a couple hundred dollars if a shop does it, but can save you major money in damages from one breaking, especially at highway speeds like mine did. If your planning on taking it to Alaska, I would recommend adding some spindle trusses/gussets (whatever you wanna call them). That said I love the build. Seems like you really planned it out for your needs, and like you said it may not work for some folks, but its what you want built for yourself. So many people do what someone told them to do and they end up unhappy because it wasn't what the needed/wanted. Your build is simple and functional, and I like it. I also like that it looks like you have empty space on your roof rack, giving you the flexibility carry more things like more jerry cans for fuel/water. Even is freezing water is a concern (like travels to Alaska) you can rotate out between inside and out.

    Very nice job man it looks professional and functional also looks like it's build like a tank. Im doing a very similar style build out of a truck camper right now. I like your simplistic plywood door kitchen setup. I'm trying to figure out how I want to do my kitchen. I can't decide between simple doors or having some drawers. I do like how simple and easy yours is and it would look alot cleaner I think. What would you say? What made you decide against any drawers

      Just checked. No build video. Landon, if you have video or even stills from the build that you could upload, I’d watch that. I’d also use a link to some of the products you bought if you got them off Amazon or a sponsored site so you could benefit from it. Let us know how that spring setup works. The bumpers look great. That cab divider is interesting also. Anything we can do to help fund your travels.

    Shes ugly on the outside lol (too much green for me) but the work inside is really nice. Alot of good ideas though, i like the rubber bushings and the "floating" bolts that hold it together so it flexes going down the road. And having your batteries in a box under the floor. One thing I'd suggest though and maybe i missed it but onboard air is a game changer. Most vehicles you can get the pump mounted in the engine bay and then tank(s) would be easy fit under camper. Good for if you need to air down to get more traction plus theres a million other things you can do with compressed air. Idk if your bags have a controller/pump but its a worthwhile investment to have a tank system

    Wow! As a Master Electrician with time in the carpentry field and metal fabricating my own metal work dude this is an awesome build!!!! The amount of thought and no cutting corners on this is very impressive!! Again I’m floored here. I work closely with Blue Ridge Overland Gear in Va im their electrician for the production facility and have used their gear in a 4x4 ambulance that I use as a work vehicle and both my Jeeps. Check out some of their gear! Again amazing build! Will be keeping an eye on your travels.

    That’s about the best Tacoma set up I’ve seen. The dust management in the sealed box pays off. The pop up roof is dusty and steals the construction integrity.

    Nice build. Protip on the showers. Find a friendly truck driver and ask if he has an extra, particularly team drivers almost always do. It's free for us and I don't mind sharing when i have it. Also try asking staff...they can do freebies and some will...Finally to increase yer odds of getting one and not coming off like some looser homeless guy a driver doesn't want to deal with maybe have a card with a QR for this channel and tell em what yer up to, as a bonus you might gain a sub.

    Can't for the life of me figure out how you make "number two" and a "pee bottle" work. Maybe what people in Tennessee call pee bottles are buckets to the rest of the world...

    • @LandonV2000
      @LandonV2000 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don’t use a the pee bottle for number 2. I am generally out in the woods or I am close enough to town to find a public bathroom for that kind of buisness.

      @@LandonV2000 Just going by what was said in the video. Something like, if I'm out and I need to go number 2, I have a pee bottle and I just throw it out in the morning.

    I’m looking to do something similar to my 16 access cab trd. I will have someone build it for me. How did you do the pass through? What mpg’s are you seeing?

    • @LandonV2000
      @LandonV2000 ปีที่แล้ว

      I used an accordion boot off of a semi for the pass through. I removed the back glass from the cab and cut the same shape hole in the camper box. It is easier to use the back door but I have the pass through as an option for more privacy or bad weather.

    • @LandonV2000
      @LandonV2000 ปีที่แล้ว

      I am getting 15-17mpg on the Hwy cruising at 65-70 mph. When I’m running the mountain roads or going over a mnt pass mpg goes to crap. I think the worst I’ve gotten is 10 mpg.
