SYNOPSIS of 'Inventing BE"
Fiercely courageous and exhilarating, Inventing BE depicts the life and time travel of Dutch designer, architect and Alinker walking bike founder, BE Alink. Growing up in the Netherlands, she had no language for what she felt about her body. How traditional society-including family members and teachers-viewed her did not align with how she identified from a very early age. In the stirring trenches of international humanitarian work across continents, BE discovered herself in places torn apart by volatile crises like Afghanistan, Kenya, Ethiopia, and Indonesia, positively affecting many others along the way.
BE has seen sights and peeked beneath oppressive systems most wouldn’t dare. In the process, she learned that to live a rich life, one had to confront the darkness of humanity to turn on the light of true freedom-in mind, body and spirit. Inventing BE is both memoir and manifesto dedicated to anyone who has ever had to conform or compromise their authentic self. May I ask how tall are you Vi? I am 5 foot 2 with very short legs and am trying to decide between the HS and the S. I dont want to just walk with my knees, but I would like to be able to walk with my whole leg.
Please measure your inseam, that determines the size of Alinker. Min 22" is HS, min 27" is Small

yes, and they should. ADA is a federal law that states that you have the right to use the assistive device of your choice. Alinker also fits within the footprint of a wheelchair and folds up

Do these fold up to fit in cars?
Yes, they fold in the middle. Still a bit bulky, but I've managed to put in a compact car. Wheels and seat also come off easily. Google Alinker for images and video.

other seats can be purchased online or at any bike store. We did a lot of testing with this seat, and after the initial breaking in, it has big benefits
yes many people with footdrop use the Alinker, you can use it to strengthen that leg, or if you want to go somewhere, put that leg on the front and step with the other leg
The seat looks so uncomfortable.
it might be more uncomfortable to lose mobility, and become more dependent on a system that just medicates.... moving through discomfort is what athletes do to become faster and stronger. Same goes for us all, we have to move through discomfort to regain mobility and health... It takes 2 - 3 weeks to get used to it, a little bit more each day, then the benefits are well beyond

Now put a serious basket on that device so a person could do tasks like a trip to the laundry mat or do a week's worth of shopping be setting free alot of people to manage themselves for so much longer. Hills, getting up and down hills is the only real drawback l see. Otherwise this is absolutely fantastic.
any basket or bike accessory can be fitted.... and yes gravity is real... though when you're a bit used to using the Alinker, it is a great workout
