No one else builds a truck with a manual anymore, don't understand why, i think if ram started offering a manual again, it would pull some ford lovers over & boost some sales.

I would like to see trucks go back to being super reliable instead of hot rods that are too expensive to fix if a manual transmission provides that I am all for it

I absolutely love anything I drive - in manual. This is what I grew up with, and have driven all types in all sizes of vehicles- since I was 9 years old!

How well has it held up?

I would like to put a 10sp fuller behind my 5.9. If ram was to come out with a 7sp Stick in new trucks someone would without a doubt sell bell housings to put behind older trucks. Ratio wise prob not gonna be efficient. As for a 9 or 10 spd behind my 5.9 wouldnt bother me.

Ford guy here that dailys a ZF6 manual. I would consider a Ram if they brought back the manual with the cummins.

This was such a great video I had to watch it again. I have a question for you in your opinion is a 2007 ram 2500 SLT with light group manual transmission mega cab 137,00 miles a good truck and avoids all the emissions crap for California also is 34,000 for this truck about right

Look like it turned out great. I hear you sometimes you need extra pieces of equipment strategically placed when you are chasing microclimates looking for the perfect wind speed or right amount of dew. I really like your recovery methods with that whole setup you have going there.

2nd gen needs 3rd gen that 3rd gen didn't have with 2nd gen. But,Gen was so fun to say when 3rd gen was also so fun to say. 2nd gen was still cool but 3rd gen was more popular. 2nd gen sucks but mama loved the 3rd gen. 😅

The problem with the Dodge is that its a Dodge. Everything on it is going to be rotting away. Sure some Fords that old are in bad shape. But how often do you see a Dodge that isn't? Ford's usually have the opposite problem. They are built really well and then companies shove a garbage engine in the truck. The 300 6 and 302 are about the only engines Ford has from that era that are worth a shit. Aside from the 7.3 that is. That's the best engine ever put in a Ford. I mean ideally, you buy a Ford because it's more durable. Drive the 7.3 until it dies then swap for the Cummins if you want one. Otherwise keep the 7.3 and drive until the second coming. Dunno when that is but I'd wager you'll still be able to find a fella in a 7.3 PSD Ford when it happens.

I have a 2002 3500 4x4 NV5600 quad cab sport red in color. I always wanted a holly grail 98 12 valve. I found one same as the 2002 but NV4500 in it. Used them both for a while and sold the 98 because it just couldn’t hold up to the 2002. A little over a year ago I bought a 97 auto regular cab that was a old worn out farm truck. The 2002 is a pig pulling trailers for the farming I do trying to get around places and tight places so I got the 97 to pull and haul things. Always like rowing my own boat but at 70 I’m getting tired and lazy so the auto is nice for backing and stop and go traffic. Took me a year to totally go thru the 97 but it’s now rust free and everything works except the cruse control. Took the bed off and have a skirted flatbed. I’ll never sell the 2002 I love that truck.

All 5 generations of Dodges, and still not as good as 1 Allison transmission lol

How do you like the machine a year later? I’m really leaning towards this one because the versatility for the money. I also would like the forestry and a rock and stump claw HD, mulching head and of course a bucket.

I would LOVE to see ram bring back the manual ... But given its likely a work truck, there are a few things I would LOVE to see them incorporate.. spacers... Yes, just add a few spacers around the transmission for the commercial aftermarket folks.. First, a bell housing spacer. This way, the spacer can be replaced with a flywheel PTO. Second, a tail spacer before the transfer case.. this would allow for the addition of other items, like an auxiliary under/overdrive box, a shuttle power reverser (think plow trucks), a split-shaft PTO, or even a hybrid unit. Simply adding these spaces would be quite easy and would add a HUGE amount of upfitter friendly options for true commercial flexibility.

I don’t even get why manual transmissions are so controversial just do 50/50 production models for the auto/manual for every vehicle. That’s what makes most sense to me anyway.

Good ole Davis clay, you get into that Yolo, Rincon and Capay soil it’s sticky and slick when wet, but come summer if you work it with any moisture in it you will have something as hard as blacktop. I was wondering how you were going to unload that, look good. I am assuming that JD harvester was setup for sunflower seed by the looks of it.

Having two flatbed gooseneck trailers around is always so handy. I wish I had a second one but I get by with our big gooseneck and the bumper pull flatbed trailer

I’m a huge 68rfe fan. Have an upgraded well built and properly tuned 68 in my 2018 2500 pushing maybe 500hp. Pulls my camper really well smooth shifting. When I’m in hotrod mode it shifts hard and fast

I did the same to my 3rd gen. about the same time as this video came out. I got black&red seats from a 2019 rebel that was in a flood. cut my dash same as you to fit the console. thats funny. great minds think alike.

I would buy a new Manual transmission pickup truck, but I wish as you said that they put the effort in R&D so as to make an efficient and modern one capable of handling and delivering; however, price is still a big factor for me. I mean seriously, who wants to buy an expensive truck these days. Am I not right? I really don’t believe people will buy new vehicles unless they really need them, inflation and costs and prices are through the roof, which forced people to only buy what they need.

Why don’t they use Eaton Fuller transmissions? Or are they only for semi trucks?

Yes the repaving of the rural roads in the county of San Joaquin has been an issue, on the other side of the county all of that runoff off of the hills comes down to the valley floor and instead of just running over the roads and continuing down towards the river, the roads are now like levees and start backing water up forcing it down a new path and or holding it back and flooding homes.

Manual transmission is great until you hit a traffic jam 😮 then you wish it was an Auto . Plus you can’t use your phone or drink coffee in a manual

I have a nice g56 and love it. No problems… actually thought 7 speed would be awesome before you even mentioned it. Can tell this guy has owned a third gen manual! Let’s start petition to dodge. Have to bring back the manual 🙏🏽

That’s a cool dump trailer, especially after seeing your last video hauling rice in it. Years ago we wouldn’t haven’t considered hauling like that since it was so more efficient calling in someone and having them drop a few sets of doubles to haul in our wheat, walnuts or dry beans to where ever they needed to go. But in today’s world might have to go back towards that direction.
