Ooru.Thirunal.Train: first rough cut
For now I have uploaded a first rough cut by stitching together some of the footage I shot during the 2020 Thirunal (on Days 08 and 09 of the festival) at Ravanasamudram Agraharam.
Hopefully I will be to complete the edits and present the complete story of the settlement's chequered history (dating to the days of the Madurai Nayakas) and the connection between the place, temple, Tirunal and railway line...

You mean the present is a foreign country! I came back to India years ago, when Indira had the Emergency. It was much changed. Name changes everywhere. People had left and moved away . the old school mates would cease to speak when they found out you could not help them or their families to immigrate. Ripped off at every turn and twist, I can now see why people continue to leave this country!
I use to admire your from the age of 7
Wow, what an incredible video showcasing Whitefield and its historic bungalows! Watching this makes me nostalgic and eager to revisit in 2023 to experience its charm firsthand. Such a beautiful place with so much history to explore!
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed the narratives.
Vo bhi kya zamana tha ❤️
bilkul!
Brings back fond memories of the past, kudos to the Britto sisters and Jackie colaco, they kept the flag of karnataka and India flying high, very proud of them
yes, that's what motivated us to script and record this narrative. So many of us in the city were unaware of their fantastic achievements!
Wonderful. Congratulations!!
Indeed, thank you
Interesting but I think, you mean, 'colonial'.Thanks for recapturing the good old days in sharing the past with us of life then, here.
Thank you, glad you liked the film
Absolutely right mam it really hurts me to seeing how Fraser Town has lost its charm. Beautiful bunglows adorned the place but now it has become concrete jungle.
Yes that's true but at least we get to preserve the memories of these places as stories...which is what drives us :)
So lovely to see so many familiar faces! What a lovely way to keep memories alive! <3
Thank you :) Its great to hear back from our audience. It keeps us going.
I'm 52, staying in Pune since I was one year old, I'm struggling to find my ancestors, I'm born in Whitefield Bangalore at Martha hospital on 29 march 1969 my mom name is lily Harry Santiago.. on Whitefield outer ring ther used to be a bungalow belonging to the Wickbreds they know my grand parents who are no more. That's all I know. Anyone plz help me.
Hello. Thank you for writing in. We hope you find the information you are seeking. We are also willing to try. It would help if you knew which years your family lived in Whitefield? 1920s? 1940s? Also would know your grandparents' surname?
@@neighbourhoodiaries hi, so excited to get a reply. My mom' Lily's parents were Mr Harry David Santiago, and Jessy Santiago, while my Father Tony's parents were, Mary Angelina and Mr Anthony Salomon. My mom's father Harry Santiago and father's mom Mary Angelina we're siblings, and we're also born in Whitefield, so maybe in the 30s or so they would have definitely been in Whitefield. Thanking you for your effort.
@@xaviersalmons2319 Hello we might have some information for you (though not directly related to your family history). You are welcome to mail us on reachsaythu@gmail.com.
