Beautiful truck. I’ve got a 86 pick up i’m fixing up to show room condition. Good video
Just as a heads up, I did this to a 2001 4Runner I bought in 2016. I had a bad spot on the frame rail on the passenger side in the usual spot. Right in front of where the lower control arm attaches to the frame. I cut out a piece of the inside frame wall about 1"x 6" long to get rid of the rust and into good steel. The rest of the frame was solid. Then I took three 3/8" hex bolts about an inch long and drilled a hole through the end of each of them about a quarter inch from the end of the threads and put a wire through them. I attached that to a 6 foot long cable and then put the other end of the cable in an electric drill and ran that down inside of the frame to beat all the rust out of the inside of the frame. It's loud as heck but it worked better than anything else to get rid of the rust inside the frame. I used air, water, magnets etc. to get all those rust flakes out of the inside of the frame. I dried the inside of the frame with a heat gun, (like for stripping paint) for several hours. I painted the outside of the frame with Por15. The inside I used frame paint from a company called Eastwood. They have frame paint that comes with a 24" tube with a nozzle that sprays 4 ways. You need to tape that 4 way nozzle tube to a coat hanger or something before you run it down inside the frame and press the button on the spray can. It worked though. I touched it up again this summer and 8 years later my frame is still solid.
Flashdance!
Regarding the foam, or syrofoam used to cushion between the fuel tank and the fuel tank strap. I would reconsider using that foam because I believe it is an open cell foam structure, which retains moisture.
Great point! I’ll definitely switch it out when I have something more suitable
@TwoYotas you should use heavy duty rubber strip between the tank and straps.
I have an 08 Tundra. Live in the rust belt... I need to do this. Cool video
Good work big guy. Everyone needs to get under their truck and give them some love. ❤
budget build means you personally do all the work after buying the items, i started with zip locker rear, air locker front, 4.88 gears and 35's, lockers before lights
@@doncline-k2t Great job! I think budget build means “built on a budget”. Either way it counts, since I personally did all of the work myself.
👋🇷🇺👍
Got you a nice truck for less than 4k...that's a winner!
Thanks for watching! While this truck is finally road worthy, it’s far from complete and I have lots of plans for the future, please consider subscribing to follow this build and other future projects!
sweet 4runner, where did you get that grille?
@@FRECKLYRAGE built it myself years ago, but I bought the insert from eBay. I recently rebuilt it and did a complete walkthrough of the build th-cam.com/video/N0UE3SNgwVQ/w-d-xo.htmlsi=6knZH696LPWcQBFh
seeing your tacoma makes me want one
Which country....
I really enjoyed watching you work. You were particular in your rasks. When you said don't puck on you for running an innershield welder. I have one from Harbor Freight I paid $ 60.00 for onsale. It welds just fine but they have more spatter. You did well !!
This isn't restoration, this is preservation! It looks great and will treat you good for a long way to come
Super
de locura, felicitaciones
Amazing.... You got my favourite ride's... These are amazing SUV'S....
😮 1990 toyota frame rusted off broke frame new frame new bed new doors new hood new bumbers
Amazing. Great job!
Great job indeed
👍
What a great video you have made
Where did u get the brackets to mount the rear bumpstops?
@@movabb4071 I had to fabricate them myself, unfortunately there isn’t much on the market unless you want to spend a fortune on bump stops.
@ i see, thanks for the reply!
I got better things to do with my time than FJuk with changing a grill that isn't broken But to each their own
Thanks for watching! 👍🏻
Thanks bro 👍 nice video
Great job! Looks amazing.. I have a 2003 double cab pre runner , love it..👍
That is awesome. I have wanted one of those double cab first gen Tacoma's since they came out in 01. Yours looks great. If you ever decide to unload it, I know a guy.
They’re the best, definitely lucked out with this one!
I think, these wheels look like Frontier's wheels
Forgot to mention in the video that the rims are stock rims from FJ Cruiser, but yes, very similar to Nissan Frontier rims.
Mind if you explain how you did or where did you get the front usb chargers where the cig lighter is usually? Also link for the Pioneer? Thx!
For the USB charger I purchased one of these www.amazon.com/dp/B0B6RBP4Y3/ref=cm_sw_r_as_gl_api_gl_i_dl_EPQSWRF0N3BD1HQ45A6Z?linkCode=ml2&tag=twoyotas20-20 And the Pioneer is a few years old but this is the newer style amzn.to/4eaEmlL
Looks Great! For the bumper brackets did you hand bend the pieces before welding them up?
@@SecondHalfofLife Yes! Unfortunately I forgot to film the process of making the mounting brackets
@@TwoYotas Thanks. And yeah no worries. Remembering to film every bit is tough. I kick myself for all the projects I've done where I haven't documented any of it except the finished product. Anyway looks great I'm hoping to build something similar for my 1st gen.
For $300. That was a win!!!
Definitely got lucky with that!
Love it man mines is basically the exact same color combo which I love but it’s a 00 and all stock. IMO 99-00 limiteds are the best automatic 3rd gens you can get they’re the only ones with the multi mode 4wd and the rear locker combo. They also got the best looking interior and power everything.
Yeah 99-00 limiteds are the best, wish they came in manual though, might have to do a swap in the future lol
Beautiful works
Gorgeous 😃🎉
where did you get the design&specs for the storage build in the back?
It was a long time ago that I built it, but came up with the design myself using a tape measure and lots of trial and error.
We're you got the brake line lines
Custom made from helperformance.com. Made them 17” long and they were the perfect length.
Hardlines came used from a parts vehicle
Hi man, like your content and I'm curious if you are interested in trying some of our products
Bravo! I have an 02 PreRunner V6 2WD double cab that was almost abandoned by my in laws in due to neglect after the rear axle bearing busted out. They said if I can fix it, it's mines. Sure enough, it's now in my driveway and I'm currently restoring it as close as I can back to OEM spec. Your videos give me continued motivation. Keep'em coming.
@@smlee6290 that’s amazing, the goal is to encourage people to work on their projects themselves and keep more of those trucks on the road!
Wow, good job🤙🏽
Hello "TwoYotas" I saw that in your channel have some problems. For these problems your channel is not much growing. Not getting much engagement. If you can solve these problems, Your channel will get more engagement. If you can give me permission I can tell to you about these problems. Can I tell here or email? Okay?
Great video. Well done. Love the first gens !! 👍
Amazing work! The truck looks super clean!
This is awesome man. Shows what you can do with a few tools and dedication
Looking good in the neighbor hood!
You got to raptor line it! The body! You will love it I did mine in lunar rock , I see some pictures of people that have have done it sense or have the same idea! I spent years trying to keep the clearcoat looking good, but in the northeast salt likes to eat away at the chips. It’s all in the prep. Definitely take off all the waxes before you sand! Can’t wait to see the result. Great video by the way thank you for your time.!!!
Definitely a possibility for the future, something needs to be done with the body eventually, not sure if it’ll be paint or raptor liner, the bed definitely needs raptor liner!
