Great video subbed! 💪🏻 great narrator voice as well haha you’ve got it down!
Thanks so much! Perhaps I should start a cameo page...LOL Jokes, of course.
I got one of these guitars and the volume didn't work it took 3 weeks and multiple emails and they are just sent out the replacement guitar
Despite the lengthy process to do so, I'm glad to hear that they made it right! Were you able to keep both guitars? If so, it sounds like you have a fun project to tinker with! Maybe you'll get the opportunity to modify one before i do!
love your review, would be better in a normal spoken voice haha \m/
Hate to be the bearer of bad news, but that is essentially my normal spoken voice, haha. Glad you enjoyed the review though!
@imJMB 🤣🤣🤣
Subbed!
That actually sounds great!
I’m in a touring tribute band. We play all over the United States, anywhere from 500 people to over 3000 people and very large venues. I just purchased this and it’s going to arrive on Friday. Can you please let me know if you ended up working out the muting issue with the waste packs? The reason I ask is that all of our music has backing tracks with click and everything in it and if they mute, we are dead in the water. Please let me know as soon as possible. Thank you for your review and thank you in advance for your reply to me.
Hey Bobby! Truth be told, we ended up parting ways with our singer shortly after this video was posted, and so we're kind of working from the ground up again. That said, we haven't had any gigs, and as such, haven't had a chance to have the issue replicate itself. In your situation though, my honest suggestion is ALWAYS to have the drummer hard-wired. Since drummers don't generally walk away from the kit too much during a show, it almost guarantees that they've always got the click in their ears, and if worse comes to worst, everyone else can always follow him until the song finishes and they've had an opportunity to iron out the issue. I know this isn't the answer you were hoping for, but I hope it helps at least a little! Best of luck!
@@imJMB thank you so much for your detailed reply. I really appreciate that. Yeah, our drummer will probably always stay hardwired. Sorry to hear about your Singer. Yeah, we are in the biggest Morgan Wallen tribute band in the country. So we literally play all over the place from California to New York and we sell out a lot of shows. I just don’t wanna take the chance of having something catastrophic happen even though we do have back ups of XVIVE. Anyhow, I appreciate your reply
Hey, much appreciated. We've welcomed a new singer into the fold recently and have our first rehearsal this Saturday, so, ever forward as they say! That's awesome! With any luck the Phenyx units will treat you well. Due to the limited channels though, make sure you take advantage of every opportunity to soundcheck, that way you can hopefully sort out any egregiously busy channels before show time.
Hi mate, is this an upgrade to the PTM-10? If so, do you know what’s been improved? Many thanks for anyone’s help !
While similar in some regards, the PTM-10 and PTM-11 are different units. I imagine many would consider the most notable difference between the two to be that the PTM-10 is stereo, while the PTM-11 is mono, which largely contributes to the $71 difference in price (with the PTM-10 being the more expensive option). The PTM-10 also offers 89 channel options, as compared to 50 with the PTM-11. With that in mind, I've not had the pleasure of trying the PTM-10 (though I would love to if Phenyx would like to send me one), but I suspect they share similar strengths and weaknesses, and which one you should go for would greatly depend on your specific needs. Personally, while I love the idea of having a stereo mix, I don't find it necessary in my case, so I would opt to save the money. Stereo also requires having enough outputs on your board to facilitate that (each person with a stereo mix will need 2 outs), and that's not always the case for folks. Hope this helps!
Great video! Great headphone! I will buy mine.
You and Five Watt World have the best TH-cam guitar voices.
That means a whole lot! Thanks very much!
Thanks for clear and detailed review of this guitar 😀
Hello , thx for the vid : will the guitar fit with Seymour Duncan mics?
I'm assuming your mean pickups? Humbuckers are (for the most part) pretty standard in size, so I can only assume most any humbucker (Duncans included) would fit. Although you may have some trouble if they're covered pickups, but that's often a risk. Hope this helps!
Thx a lot
Cort kx 100 or donner dmt 100??
Unfortunately, I haven't had the pleasure of being able to try the KX100, so I'm not equipped to answer this one. :( What I CAN say though, is that the KX100 is about double the price of what the DMT-100 can be picked up for with the occasional sales/discounts, and aside from the Cort being a more well-known name, I can't see anything spec wise that would compel me to pay double the price for one, over the DMT-100. Just my 2 cents though. :)
@@imJMB okay bro.. thanks for the answer
Ok, I'm considering these cuz I would be saving for MUCH longer otherwise. Plz open your next vid with, "Did ya miss me?" -Sincerely, a poor Also, did you do it?
Great video, good light too, I do trust GVM the brand is solid.
Thank you for this man!
I bought a DMT-100 in gradient violet myself recently. I've been using a 28", straight-scale 8-string as a 6-string to play E standard tuned songs lol, so I was curious and decided to check out a Donner as a cheap & quick solution to acquire a 6-string. Of course, being Canadian, I had to pay $250CAD for what has now gone down to $200CAD two days after I bought it... I am not disappointed though. Out of the box, it played great; other than being severely out of tune, but it was expected being a cheaper guitar & having changing weather. I have an Ibanez RGMS7 27" to 25.5" multi-scale 7-string (a $700 guitar) and this Donner feels/plays identically to it. A couple aesthetic finish issues, but for the way it sounds, plays, and how much I paid, I can't really complain (I can also remedy the aesthetic problems myself). I'll definitely be upgrading the tuners as the high E tuning head has already cost me a string, and also possibly the bridge pickup. Being made of poplar & maple, it could also make a cool little project guitar if you wanted to strip the hardware and electronics, sand, touch up, re-paint & re-finish it, and put it back together with upgraded hardware.
I think using these guitars as a customization base would be a great idea for anyone looking to get into customs, or someone who just wants a fun project on the cheap. I've given some serious thought into it myself! It even sounds like a fun idea for a video. Who knows...maybe one day. :D
@@imJMB Do it up man, i’d love to see what you do with it! Might even be able to make it feel like a true “thousand dollar” guitar though imo it already feels damn close.
My wife and I each purchased one of the DMT 100 her's is the Gradient Violet mine the Gradient Black her's came in a different box obviously newer paded foam on the head.. mine didn't mine was missing the accessory bag . Her's had it.. my box was damaged. We both have 2 each Donner Arena 2000 multiple effects pedals great... A few Donner pedals. 2 each Donner 152 seeker series guitars. The Donner Keyboard 🎹 88 keys. Foldable. So Donner is good but yes issues do happen. My guitar needs to have the neck pickup fixed that's due to trash in the pocket.. Easily fixed. My wife's no issues They were on sale $199 plus $3o off coupon. So yeah at regular price of $250 great deal. Cheers 🍻🥃🥃🎸🎵🎶🎶🎶
Good video. I'm thinking about going this route. I'm in a duo but my band is a 5 piece tribute and we're doing some sold out shows with several hundred people. Getting a good monitor mix can be a pain especially if the guy next to you has his blasting to the point that I can't hear mine so this might be the route to go and spending $500+ for a single unit is not in my future. Thanks for showing this stuff.
Hey Brian. Congrats on the upcoming sold out shows! That's awesome! Yeeeeah, I sure don't miss those days, for that exact reason. Before actually having tinnitus, I'd have nights of ringing ears just because of a small stage and a half deaf singer. I know your big concern is your own monitor mix right now, but if you can get your band to chip in on one, you might consider the PTM-33 at some point. As I mention in the video, it offers 4 independent mixes, and then you can either have your drummer be wired direct to the board (since I'm guessing he doesn't march around stage much), or have 2 people in the band share a mix and buy an extra bodypack. You could TECHNICALLY get the PTM-33 and then a PTM-11 for 5 independent mixes, but they occupy the same frequency range, so the limitations regarding channels will still exist, and conflict could potentially occur. As such, Phenyx actually advises against that. Just a thought, though. Good luck with everything!
@@imJMB thanks much for the info. My drummer already uses IEMs and I just got finished watching a video about ASI IEMs with ambient sound. Looks like I have options. Thanks again.
How good for music production?
I do make mention of that in the video. :)
Hi there, I recently bought this wireless IEM system (I am a bass player) to play in live setups with my band. However it produces a very annoying hiss as soon as I turn either the transmitter or receiver know above half the volume. It's a clear static noise which is very unpleasant, did you notice the same?
Keith? Who is this Keith you speak of? lol- As I demonstrated in the video, there is some degree of hiss/white noise present as soon as I turn on the bodypack (regardless of whether or not the transmitter is on), but it doesn't seem to be effected by the volume of the bodypack itself (at least not in a way that I find perceivable to my ears), and whatever amount of hiss I do hear, is overtaken as soon as someone in the band starts playing. I tend to keep my ears only as loud as is absolutely necessary to hear what I need to in an effort to protect myself from worsening tinnitus, so it's not as though the volume of the instruments is incredible. I think this points more to the white noise/hiss being relatively low in comparison. If you feel like you're experiencing something extra, I'd start by turning the bodypack on while the transmitter is off, and seeing if the hiss behaves in the same way. If not, it's probably something related to the transmitter, or the signal going into it. In my experience, Phenyx is pretty good at responding to emails, so if you can't figure it out, you might consider dropping them a line and seeing what they suggest. :) I hope you're bale to get it sorted!
@@imJMB thank you for your feedback (it was the stupid auto-correct feature, I meant to type "hi there" :D ) I noticed the same hiss also when no signal is fed into the system and the hiss increases also with the volume knob on the transmitter. It's quite loud I'd say, I still didn't try with my band, only at home. I'll check also while playing with the other musicians and I hope it gets better. Thanks!
Just to make sure I'm understanding correctly; so when the transmitter is totally off, you still receive hiss in the bodypack that increases with the volume knob? Again, some hiss is normal, regardless of the transmitter status, but in my experience, the hiss doesn't really change with the volume of the bodypack. So if yours is increasing in a noticeable way, I would suggest reaching out to Phenyx, as there may be an issue with your bodypack, as this isn't an issue I've dealt with using any of my bodypacks for either the PTM-11 or the PTM-33. So definitely drop them a line! :)
Hey Jordan! Very good shake down. It is a pretty guitar and it sounds pretty good too. What amp were you running it through? I like the idea of the 'floating ferrule' though.... Talk about manufacturers ignoring emails, it took me almost 4 months to hear back from Ovation when I needed info on my Standard Elite! Hey, would you consider reviewing my FireFly LP knock off??
Thanks very much! Running it through my Axe-FX II XL+, modeling a Mesa Boogie Mark IV. The floating ferrules are all fun and games until one disappears, lol. Man, I remember the 4 month debacle. That's just madness, especially from a well-known brand. Not to be unsympathetic, because I understand companies get inundated and fall behind, but holy crap. Yeah, I'd be down to put it through its paces at some point!
@@imJMBNext time you come over you can take it with you!! Loved the vid, btw...
"Cooperation conditions". You HAVE to tell us more!
LOL! I have to admit, I don't think their conditions were entirely unreasonable. I mentioned it simply because the reviews on my channel are normally done in exchange for the item in question, and that wasn't the case here. That said, their conditions essentially boiled down to; 1. Over 2,000 hours average watch time within the last 3 months 2. There must be at least 1 comment on every video on your channel, and no videos set to prohibit comments 3. The channel has been updated within the last 3 months 4. The total amount of playing as of 3 months ago must be over 4,000 hours. While the watch time goals are a bit lofty for me presently, I can understand the stipulations on their part. Maybe I'll reach those goals one day. :)
Donner ignored you?!!? How dare they!? Don't they know how influencial you are? These Donner people are narrow minded.
Let's be honest here...with less than 300 subscribers at the moment, my influence is limited to the grass in my yard, and the dead spots would indicate even THAT is hit or miss! Even still, I would think ignoring a customer with a genuine problem would be viewed as being in poor taste by ANYONE. Influence or not, when someone purchases a product, odds are they're hoping the company will stand by that product, and I don't think that's too much for a consumer to ask for. Regardless of that experience, though, I still encouraged folks to give this guitar a fair chance, and expressed my hopes that the company will continue to grow and improve, and I meant it.
@imJMB it's just that Donner should have taken into consideration the potential your reviews could have. It's not all just about numbers when it comes to our love for the 6 stringed instrument, the guitar. It's how passionate we are that usually wins. And I see the feelings behind your words, your attempts to still be fair and so on. Your review was a great review and Donner ought to be glad for it.
I sure do appreciate the kind words! From what I've seen, I think Donner has a lot of potential to contend with the more well-known companies if they can just tighten up a few things. Fingers crossed that'll end up being the case!
@@imJMBThat's why I love Sweetwater. They'll actually call you! to check how you made out with your purchase. Great company
We know playing through good speaker(s) with gain and or with a good processor can make most any cheapo sound descent. Playability and stability is most important to me. I didn't even know Donner made guitars. I do have one of their noise gates, no complaints there. Thanks for the vid, I lost my made in the USA mentality so I'm always on the lookout for good budget axes.
Thanks for the video, broWelcome back!
Thanks so much, Lucas! Glad to be back...little by little! :)
Very well presented review, and honest, so bonus. lol I'll check them out, though I generally prefer wireless, who knows. =)
Neebus! I definitely see the appeal to wireless, but I typically find that for the money, plus the challenge of finding ones I like the sound of, old ways just tend to be safer. For me, at least. That said, if someone wants to drop a pair of wireless headphones in my lap that they think will compete, I'm all for it! LOL
Jave you considered reaching out to Donner to do a review on their $30 noise gare pedal, have heard good things but am sure you could do a better break down and review on quality than I
But then again if they are not all too communicative then that's a bit of a buzz kill in wanting to do a review.
I'd be willing to do a review of one if they were to send it to me, but I wouldn't have enough of a use for one to justify a purchase on my own (even at only $30). Besides, I still don't meet their requirements for collaboration, and even if I did, I get the feeling they wouldn't be very interested in working with me after I openly stated that they ignored me. Companies can be funny that way, lol.
Looks like i have found my next headphones, thanks a ton bud. Hope all is going more quietly down there for ya.
I hope you'll enjoy yours as much as I have! Still pretty loud over here, but it gets a little quieter when I use the headphones...LOL. Hope you're doing well, bud.
I did it! Great review, and thank you! 🎉
Trust me. They only talk to 10 k sub counts or 100k review consistant videos.
Nice production. I hope this journey works for you. I appreciate the video. Keep it up.
That's disappointing to hear. I didn't find their cooperation standards to be at all unfair or unreasonable, it was just kind of bad timing on my part. The lack of response as a customer was certainly disappointing though, especially since I believe they have a lot of potential as it pertains to music equipment. Again though, with any luck, maybe that'll improve in time. Thanks very much for the kind words and the support!
Great review. Great looking guitar.
Really appreciate this. I've used the teleprompter once and that was a couple of years ago. May need to use it a second time and this was a great refresher. Especially choosing the speed of the prompter. Thank you.
Glad you found the video to be of help! If you intend to use your teleprompter more frequently, I highly encourage you to check out this other video I did talking about a different Teleprompter App and a Remote that I bought! It made a HUGE difference for me - th-cam.com/video/UryC_g7b-nk/w-d-xo.html
I don't want you to lose money, but you've got a good vocabulary and speak well.
I'm not certain how that would cause me to lose money, but thank you! lol
@@imJMB No, that means that I like you talking so much about the details and your opinion.
Oh! Well thanks very much! :)
Very informative and useful review. Addressed all the queations that a guitarist would ask and highlighted the bad along with the good. Liked amd subscribed, will definitely be following your channel. Top work sir.
Thanks so much, Michael! I often find it difficult to make detailed reviews that tick the boxes I think an audience would want, without making it ridiculously long-winded or redundant, so it means a lot to hear that!
I was searching for reviews of this guitar as I'm seriously considering buying one as a modding platform. I was worried that at the price it was too good to be true. Your review answered all the questions that I had, managed my expectations and reassured me that I wouldn't be wasting my money. A lot of reviews are either "look how good I can play" or "omg this guitar that i was given for free is the best thing since the last best thing" Your review was clear, precise, and to the point. Everything a potential buyer needs and nothing they dont. Great work.
My Donner was a kit, that a local luthier built during the lockdowns to hold off the boredom. He used Fender custom shop pickups, though. Nice instrument.
I didn't even know they made kits! I can't find any now, so I'm guessing they no longer sell them. Very cool purchase though!
Great info! -Ed

I picked up a cheap Bluetooth remote (similar to the one in your video) and was able to assign the buttons just as you taught in your video. THANK YOU! This was a game-changer and a godsend. Now, back to work... :)
Happy to help! I'm glad that you were able to get desirable results. Hopefully it helps your workflow as much as it helped mine!
Just heard about this company and need a Demo of the Jfet rectifier boogie
Maker Josiah is a good dude and does top notch work. He's also a Hell of a guitar player himself! I imagine he doesn't need ME to do a demo for him, but if he wanted me to do another, I'd be happy to work it out with him. Either way, I'd highly advise you consider reaching out to him and requesting some samples of the Jfet Rectifier Boogie! I have no doubt he can hook you up with something. :)
I've been asked a lot of this app work for Apple products, and up until this week, I haven't had an Apple Product to utilize in order to answer that question! Despite the fact that there IS an app with the same name, this exact app does not seem to be available for Apple at this time, and the one currently listed with the same name has left many users immensely disappointed it seems. Sorry, folks!
Thanks! Prompter just arrive from Amazon and I going to give your setup a shot!!!
Excellent! I hope it works out as well for you as it has for me.
❤
Unfortunately that remote is no longer available
It's been unavailable a few times in the past and has eventually been in stock again. With any luck, that'll be the case this time as well. If not, hopefully an alternative will appear!
Just thought you'd like to know the remote is back in stock!
Sorry Friend, great job.Sorry for my english, i am from Italy. I bought right now this remote from Amazon, and it is here. How set up it? How charge? Manual is very difficult...Did you do a tutorial video how setup and pairing , and configure Elegant Teleprompter apk? I need your help, pleaseee!!!
While I wish I could help you further, tutorials is not something that I currently have time for. :( To be honest, with the language barrier between us, I'm also not sure I would be of much help. What I can tell you, is pairing the remote with your phone/tablet/ipad is the same as pairing any other bluetooth device. Similarly, charging the remote is just a matter of plugging it in with the included USB cable. I hope this helps at least a little. :)
@@imJMB Thank you friend for your reply, when i plug cable into remote and connect to charger, blu light led, start flashing, what need happend to understand remote is charged? Stop flashing?
If I recall correctly, I don't think it stops flashing. I just leave mine over night.
@@imJMB thank you friend I solved all, it work perfectly, can I know how you configured it every key, for example for start/pause what key you set?
I'm afraid you'll have to figure that out on your own, my friend. Everyone is different, so you need to figure out what will work best for you without being able to look at the remote. You can do it!
Thank…You!
thanks lol
i just placed the order for this remote..im brand new at using a teleprompter and to be honest the programming is very difficult since im old lol..
You'll get it! Just keep at it!
I got it working and thank you !!!!....would love a remote footswitch @@imJMB
That seems like a great idea! Would love the opportunity to check one out one day. :)
