AI Augmented Custom Templates for Heidi AI scribe
มุมมอง 1.7K7 หลายเดือนก่อน
Ai scribes are a huge time saver. Most people can get away with standard templates - or at least I thought so, until I realized the full potential of custom templates in Heidi (no disclosures)

Thank you very much from a dermatologist in Toronto - I will try tomorrow for the first time because you made it manageable!
Thanks for your comment! Let me know how it goes!
Dr. Canes, thanks for sharing. I am looking for an AI scribe for my orthopaedic surgery clinic. Something that is important to me is the ability to prep clinic. The night before I look at all patients on my schedule and create a tentative game plan, further imaging, etc. Does this software allow for any pre-planning? ie can you populate a note before seeing the patient and look over/edit, before you have the patient interaction. Appreciate your input.
Yes you can pre-fill each note with "context" so that when you're in clinic, you're all set - just pull that patient up and click start
Hi doc! Thanks for putting out your experience on Heidi. I am in im resident and have learnt to be much more efficient using Heidi. I would like to add something as it may benefit others. I personally use my meta raybans glasses (they are Ai powered glasses) for their excellent 5 surround mics. So I start Heidi on my phone and press record and then use the glasses as my recording device. This is very convenient for those who don't have access to computers when seeing patients in the er etc. Thanks foe the great videos!
I'm using Heidi in family medicine. It saves me time and is better than the old way but I wouldn't describe it as having a chief resident helping me. More like a high schooler that memorized a medical dictionary. I've been working on improving that via template commands, etc. without much success yet.
interesting - I guess YRMV. Only a high schooler? For me it really performs at a higher level. Are you sure your templates are dialed in?
@@canesd Well FWIW have spent hours watching the support videos, tweaking a couple of templates, writing from scratch and communicating with Heidi. Will take a look at yours now but it's challenging because same template will produce different results at different times with the same input.
How do you access a prior patient's note to copy it into the future note's "context" section? Do you save the notes under the patient's name, is that HIPAA compliant? Otherwise, how would you go back and find their prior note
Yes under pts name. Entire app is fully HIPAA compliant so they store the data encrypted end to end. Just like your EHR. Same level of compliance to my knowledge
Fellow heidi super fan here. Lactation. 2 patients per 60-90 minutes. It’s transformed my documentation! Thanks for pulling back the curtain and sharing your process. It’s super helpful
Amazing - was speaking to another lactation consultant who was having a poor experience - any way I could connect you two
I am a super fan of this product. I'm a urologist in Portland, OR. Thanks for sharing your workflow and templates, they are really helpful. I've been trying to get my partners on the platform, but they are amazingly reluctant. I also feel like I have gotten 2 more hours back on my clinic days. Can't wait to see the advancements in AI in the next year or 2. Waiting for it to put in all my orders for me next.
I also feel I get 2 hours back per day, on average - amazing how reluctant people are to change poor workflows, even when they recognize it's poor, huh?
Thanks for sharing, extremely interesting and informative.
Glad you enjoyed it!
I enjoyed you video and template. I’m losing satisfaction with Heidi unfortunately. The “updates” they are turning out seem to making my experience worse. I can’t even copy and paste a section from Heidi to my EMR without losing the formatting. Worked fine 2 wks ago.
The team is super responsive - just message them. something happened with my formatting too this week. I guess I don't care - the note is so amazing. I will never let go of this workflow. Those are minor temporary issues Chris
Dr. Canes, watched your video- have been using Heidi for a few months now, have used Freed, DAX, Dax copilot, and others. I am pretty happy with Heidi but watching your post inspired me to try my own template. Actually, not my own, but took your urology template (on the community Heidi page) and modify it as a family practice provider note. Can't wait to try it tomorrow in clinic. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and experience with Heidi. Linda PA in Family Practice
That's so awesome! Let me know how it goes in clinic!
Thank you for this video. At about the two-minute mark, you say you're going to "dump in" a previous note for Heidi to use in generating this new note. How do you do that? Are you copying and pasting a previous note into the AI window at the start of a new session? What if the previous notes are already stored in Heidi? Thank you.
Copy/paste just prior to the visit. I don't ever store anything in Heidi so far.
New to Heidi, but very impressed so far. This is very interesting and I would like to also do this. Questions: 1. do you know if there is there a community repository yet? I thought I stumbled upon something but havent been able to get back to it. 2. How did you work this out? Is there a syntax guide to teach you how to do this? I have not been able to find one.
No community but I understand they're building and will be released soon -- I worked it out by trial and error - create a template, if it misbehaves in certain areas, add (instructions in parenthesis) and play around and regenerate the note
Hi, I have been trying the same approach to my templates and came to the same conclusion. Thank you very much for your video.
My pleasure!
Great video
I agree with Elijah!😇
Love it
Thank you for the clear presentation of this surgery.
