Hawthorn Round 16 Preview vs Eagles!!!
Hey Hawkers! It's going to be a big game on Sunday, in my opinion one of our most important for the remainder of the season. Both the Hawks and West Coast are massively improved from last year and look to be on the rise. This game will test our legitimacy for finals contention and put our boys to the test. We have not beat the Eagles at Optus since 2019 but we absolutely belted them by 100+ points last year, but this will be much closer. The performance of Harley Reid, Tim Kelly and Elliot Yeo will most likely dictate proceedings so we need to shut them down to keep their dangerous tall forwards out of the game. Have a great weekend hawkers, hopefully the boys can make it even better for us :) GO HAWKS!!!

Hawthorn Round 14 vs Tigers!

Hey Hawkers! We ruined Dusty's 300th for the 90-odd thousand tigers fans that showed up to the game and stole our members' replacement game tickets with an absolutely clinical performance. We continue our stellar mid season resurgence and could very well contend for finals if we win our next two games, both being tough away games against West Coast in Perth and Geelong down at the Cattery, hope...
Hawthorn Round 13 Review vs Giants!

Hey hawkers! Another impressive win from the boys against GWS, perhaps our best of the lot in the past 5 weeks. We are emerging as a dark horse for the finals race, and while a lot will have to go right for us to get there, you cannot count us out based on this current form. Hopefully we can get the job done over Richmond in Dusty's 300th on Saturday and spoil the occasion for tigers fans. Drop...
Hawthorn Round 13 Preview vs Giants!

Hey Hawkers, the boys face perhaps their biggest test thus far in this little period of great footy we are playing, against a top 8 side that will be hungry to return to their winnings ways following a bit of a form slump after dominating at the start of the season. We will need to be at our very best to overcome the Giants but its by no means going to be an easy game for them, we are up and ab...

Hey Hawkers! Another huge game this weekend against the 2023 Runner ups. Our midfield will be put to the test against a brigade which features dual Brownlow medalist Lachie Neale so hopefully we can turn up the heat and put together 4 quarters of good footy. See you in the next one!
Hawthorn Round 10 review vs Power!

Hey Hawkers! Such a heartbreaking loss on the weekend. I was in utter disbelief watching from the stands, after so much hard work and great footy to get 28 points up at 3qtr time and still lose is very poor, but we shall not dwell on it for too long, we need to look at the positives and hopefully the boys can bounce back against the Lions and continue to play some good footy. hopefully Sicily a...

Hawthorn Round 8 Preview vs Western Bulldogs

Hey Hawkers! This week the boys are going up against the underperforming Western Bulldogs in what should be an interesting contest. We will need to be at our best to cause an upset but hopefully the boys can bounce back after that horrible game against the Swans. The Doggies are good at Marvel so I am not very confident but lets hope for the best! See you in the next video. Please drop a like a...

I was hoping they would run mcguiness against reid, he did a great job on daicos
Eagles over here I'd be confident. Over there not so much. On form we should do it. Under 15 winning margin for me. Depends how the fellas go after a week off. Slow starts and missing easy shots hasn't been giving Hawks the scoreboard pressure reward for work done. Big help if can silence crowd. Hope the Box Hill boys get a run soon, otherwise might be poached for lack of opportunities. Agree, hard to change a winning side.
Looks like only change to the 22 will be Morrison in for Bruest. Ward, Maginness and Serong all emergencies, I agree with Box Hill guys needing game time soon - I worry about Josh Ward particularly. Apparently he was quite frustrated when he was dropped to the VFL again, I’d imagine if he doesn’t start getting some games soon he might look elsewhere which would be a big waste of our first round selection for him. A big shame as he started out looking class - his first goal against port had me hyped but seems to be stagnating in terms of his output. Hope he comes good but CMac definitely looking like the better selection out of our 2021 draftees.
Cholly really starting to show good form and goal kicking great. Pressure acts are right up there. Precise attacking kicking outta defence giving easy access to a forward 50 entry. Overall ground pressure helping backs immensely as not as much time for opposition to pinpoint pass into forward 50. Once the wizard settles down and converts chances, with the rest of the forwards getting it together, backline humming along nicely and centres/ruck doing well, looking good.
I am so glad that the team has relatively jelled. Has belief in our team' but weren't winning anything. Enjoying watching the games now
This is proving to be a top tier trade period retrospectively.
Slow starts and bad kicking early are not the way to win games. That the Hawks can grind it out is showing their ongoing development. Things are starting to gel, and look happy doing it which is important. Get going earlier and kick straight, finals are a possibility. Maybe even win one. Mabior starting to show what he can do, CJ getting match hardened, better delivery all over the ground and C Dear clunking a few making opposition backs nervous which means they make mistakes. Gunners amongst goals, Cmac and Jackie G roaming far and wide and working hard back really showing benefits. When Massi D kicks the ball in forwards licking their lips. Jars, KA, Sic, Scrim, Frosty, Weds and Sean getting it together. Lol, Frosty, handball. Day, Worps, Conan and Nuke all delivering better into the front half. Good team performance. To catch up and win without a ruck for half a game is good going.
I luv an upset. Hot Hawks. Great team game. Especially when losing Reeves.
Slow starts and goals against late in 1/4s are a weakness Hawks have to address. 12 points is fair, hoping Hawks can get an upset.
We also tend to get exposed a little bit when teams rebound, even adelaide looked a little dangerous transitioning the ball in the last qtr last week. GWS have some really good ball users coming out of D50 so this is something we will need to look out for.
Good preview 👍
Thanks mate!
Will Day coming back has been an enormous help to the midfield. J Newks getting to work and Worps upping his tempo from a few quietish games after a brilliant start to the season has helped not only stopping easy exits but tackling pressure making for less controlled exits for the opposition. Well done N Reeves for grabbing your chance with Meeky out. Hawks are starting to get some synergy. Good work C Dear for taking your chance. Bit of bulk on you and look out. Mitchells banishment of Scrimshaw to the VFL last year to up his fitness to get to contests has proven brilliant. Well done Scrimmers. Karl and Massi D have been excellent. Frosty is going great and kicking better/not as much. Mitchell and Weddle doing great work as well. Forward line are keeping the ball in there, great work fellas. The complete team are making their presence felt with better tackling and to be able to absorb tackles and get a controlled disposal away. Off season work in the gym paying big time. Ability to keep sustained pressure on to stop teams getting easy goals in junk time will help. As has being cleaner in front of goal and putting on scoreboard pressure helped by better/controlled entries.
great vid as always
great work, would love to forget this one, great to see some hawks content out there,
Port lead for 9 seconds and won. Like watching a boxer way ahead on points getting ko'd with 9 secs to go. Positives. The boys had heat and hunger. Couldn't keep it up for 4 1/4s, that's what young sides do. Better stamina which comes with pre-seasons and maturing. C Dear is gunna be a ripper, those 2 out on the fulls. Would've been serious scoreboard pressure. As you said, 3rd game, he will get better. For 3/4s Hawks looked like a top 8 side. Tackling was superb, pressure was right up there, field kicking good, teamwork good. Gave em a sniff, and they stole it. Were'nt good enough to get a goal in last 1/4. Went defensive, and lost.
Rippa game. That last 1/4 nearly lost my voice. Lot better style of footy. As said zones were more effective and the whole team were in it to win it. Luckily both teams weren't the best in front of goal and easy set shots were missed. Ended up both teams looked even and with Libba going off injured just helped us get over the line as he is a dangerous man around a ball up and last few minutes had plenty of them. Thought our backline were excellent and more midfield pressure helped. Just shows when everyone's on the same page how good it is. Well done Calsher Dear, didn't look out of place. A debut to remember fondly.
A for effort and E for achievement last week against a classy side that cut us up. Having a shocking day in front of goal, so no scoreboard pressure didn't help. As happens, the goal kicking yips went through most of the side. Centre's and onballers will have to be much better in forward delivery. Forwards will have to maintain some structure when/if we do get a fast break. Had a bad day at the office last week, hope it's a better result Sunday. Hope Phillips gets a crack iiifff he's ready. Screaming out for another tall at back.
Phillips and Dear named in the extended squad. Honestly wouldn’t mind both featuring. Phillips and Frost should hopefully keep one of either Naughton or Ugle-Hagan quiet so that Sicily can get back to his best position as an intercept defender.
I'm with Sam Mitchell. They had a crack. Just wasn't their day. Couldn't buy a goal. Some of the field/goal kicking was woeful. A forward entry kicked on Dylan Moore's head who had a taller opponent summed up the day. Major brain fades from perceived or actual pressure. Radio commentators were very skeptical of the Hawthorns zone, which let Swans out too easily too many times. Many a time pointing out that man on man was a better option than players 50 metres away from the action guarding grass by themselves.
I’m not a fan of our defensive structure. Our back 6 have actually been coping alright with the constant entries they have to deal with. Our ground defence is shocking though. I understand a zone makes it easier to score from turnover and creates opportunities for rebounds but against teams like Sydney, their ball use is too good. It’s clear we aren’t at the level necessary for Sam Mitchell’s game plan and we need to take a step back to the drawing board if we are any chance to beat the dogs without our 2 key forwards. Very nervous for Sunday.
@@HawthornHQ One big body short in the backline, (Blanck). No probs with backline, just coming in too easy. Need more pressure in the centre stop it going in so easy. That's why critical of players guarding grass by themselves. Ok if Hawks get turnover, didn't happen nearly enough for what it cost us.
great video. Good see a channel like this talking about Hawthorn
Thanks for the kind words, mate. Glad you enjoyed the vid. I’ve been there for the highs of our 3 peat era but have actually found more passion for this team through this rough patch.
Awesome video!!! I always look forward to tuning it ☺️

100th sub
Thanks so much mate <3
I agree, surely they should improve with the forward line adding new exciting faces like Ginny, Chol and the return of Gunston. It’s just skill of kicking straight and the connection between the midfields and forwards.
Midfield looking shocking so far! Defence holding up well. Forwards have been inaccurate.
Is there a best 22 this season?
As a neutral (crows fan), I reckon the Hawks are gonna be an exciting team to watch this season. Probably going for that 10th-12th position, but any higher would be a huge achievement with the age group of this list. Hawks will be up there again in the near future and i doubt that a premeireship is too far away. Really like how they Hawks have done this rebuild!
Always thought Massimo would be a good wingman, think he is gonna fit right in and improve your ball use.
Would love a video on what your predicted lineup for 2024 is
Love the channel man, please upload more 🙏🏿, its rare for a fan channel to have unbiased opinions
McCabe 😅😅😅😅😅GUN backman
great vid mate
Thanks mate ❤️
I still don’t understand why we where stupid enough to trade away brockman for pick 44 and 64 seriously like a donation clinic, we are sometimes. Why not package him up with our pick 3 and a future second for Harley Reid. Anyway overall pretty happy with the deals done gonna be a good 2024!
I do agree 44 and 64 is low for Brockman, however we wouldn't have got much more for him considering he was pick 46 himself and hasn't done much so far. I think its a bit more reasonable than us asking for pick 25 for Koschitzke.
West Coast wouldn’t have accepted that offer I don’t think North was more likely to package up the most attractive deal with pick 2 and pick 3 almost put on the table. If North put up pick 2 and a future first then I think they would’ve grabbed him. Hawthorn were never really in those talks it’s all media crap we never had a chance
Won’t be picking a player at 44 in the draft. It will be gone after picking up Will McCabe as father son
We definitely don't have a very strong draft hand. We will need to nail pick 4 and hope Ginni, Chol, Gunston and Mass can all have positive seasons to make up for that.
@@HawthornHQ Yes and I know why, apparently this year’s draft class is atrocious and there are only like 10 players worth getting. Father-Son points are valuable for McCabe and Dear, Zane Duursma would be a great grab as well so it’s not all doom and gloom the Hawks played it smart this year by grabbing picks late in the trade period for draft points. And still holding onto our first rounder of course.
@@musiceditz23 I’ll be interested to see who we get with pick 4. Definitely a few available options. Nick Watson would be good if we are looking to replace Bruest in the long term. If he can have half as good a career as punky I’ll be happy. Duursma would also be great for midfield class. I suspect we would give him his rookie season at half forward with limited midfield minutes. Keen for what happens next!!!
Great video
Thanks for the support mate!
Have fun with Massimo, he’s got a bright future ahead of him, sad to see him go
Love it! Very fair ratings I think :) keep it up
great video mate keep posting
Thanks mate appreciate it ❤
Was expecting an A+ from Frost, disappointed
Great video mate! Think you gave fair ratings for all the players.👍👍 I also expected a bit more from Cam Mackenzie as well this year but like you said, it's only his first year. I think he'll be a great player for us and I reckon we will see his A - Grade traits next year. Hawks fans have to persist with DGB as well. I know he hasn't yet become the player we've expected him to be but people need to remember that key position players take time to adjust to AFL football. Jacob Weitering and Darcy Moore are prime examples of this
great video mate
Go doggies😂
Nice work on the vid mate! Loving Ryan and Fion another chance to learn the game and break into the side.
I’m really looking forward to how Brandon Ryan goes next year
I’m hoping he can provide support for Mitch Lewis for years to come. Will need to put on some muscle over the off season though 😂
Fion O'hara more like the next king of the game
Awesome vid!
Great vid man! 👍 Will be interesting to see who Hawthorn think will be a key part of our future
Thanks mate! There will be some unlucky players thats for sure. I think our number one priority is securing a good ball user thru the midfield (McKercher?) and target a key position in free agency.
Gonna be some very unlucky players delisted this year, great vid!
