Resin Sailors: Handling a 1:200 figure
มุมมอง 70ปีที่แล้ว
It is pretty much impossible to find a suitable method to clamp or secure these tiny figures for painting…other than just using your fingers. Many times I would just paint the upper half, let it dry, then paint the lower half.
Example video - NSTA International Film Festival - Houston 2022

Here is an example of an acceptable video to the National Science Teaching Association's International Film Festival and Share-a-thon. We wish to encourage creativity so feel free to use whichever format you prefer. the only real requirements are that they are under 7 minutes and focus on visual elements rather than text. More information and the call for abstracts to this event can be found at...
Resin Sailors: Leg reattachment surgery at 1:200 scale
มุมมอง 22ปีที่แล้ว
I had so few "officers" that I was compelled to repair one that had broke while handling. The first, unsuccessful, attempt was with CA (Crazy glue). This time I used UV resin which worked well, but I botched cleaning up the mend afterward. I ended up just buying an .stl file of a WW2 USN officer and printing off my own.
Resin Sailors: First attempt
มุมมอง 14ปีที่แล้ว
Starting to paint 1:200 miniatures. I later abandoned this method where I stuck the figures to tack putty and painted one side first, let them dry, and flipped them over.

A pair of owls were hunting in our neighbour's yard. This one does some interesting moves to watch its prey.

hi Gabe, im doing the same model right now - how did you drill the hole for the tiller at 2mins42 ? Thanks Jon

I can't remember exactly! I have just looked through my build log on Model Ship World and all my photos - nothing brings it to mind. The transom at that location is only single planks. I likely printed a copy of the hole and taped it in place. Then I have a vague recollection of hand drilling pilot holes (not with a power tool) - the smaller side ones first then the larger middle hole. These holes were much smaller than the profile and I then used a small razor saw and files to enlarge the openings and shape it correctly. I hope this helps. Are you on Model Ship World or Ships of Scale, by the way? They are fantastic forums to get advice and read how other modellers managed their builds. Much better at model building than I am! I can send you the link to my build on Model Ship World if you want.

Hello @jefffranckowiak8911 ! I'm just about to print up a Ron figure for you. Do you want it the same size as I gave to Ron or do would you like it a bit smaller? Please email me at GKfromCanada@gmail.com

Thank you, Matt! Hate to say this, but I'm not a fan of 15th century ships or even Christopher Columbus. However, I do think I'll build John Cabot's ship Matthew. A gift for my other son.

Lots of headaches, too! 😂 I have to say that I don't have a particular fondness for rigging! 🤬
