Grey Water Recycling in Homes
Every home generates grey water daily from washing of hands, the bathing area in bathrooms, washing of utensils and clothes. This is relatively clean water and should not be allowed to go into the drain. This video presents the views of Poornima Savargaonkar who talks about how she has channelised the grey water generated in her house to her green belt and treated it in a very cost effective and natural way before redirecting the water back into the ground. With 70% of India's water aquifers having dried up and India facing a huge water crisis, every urban and rural family having an independent house can contribute towards improving our nation's rapidly depleting ground water levels by implementing grey water management in this natural way.

The fact that the actual work with hands, that is handling the waste, is still done by "house keeping boys" and not the community members themselves, still shows the system you are proud of is unsustainable. I do not mean to criticize, however, that's what I have done. Just wondering, if even climate change cannot change our old rigid, ways. Have a thoughtful day :)

Your ideas are useless as the Need of the day is to percolate water into the soil. Not to save the water. You have not made any arrangements for water percolation to soil.

      Very nice information.पानी बचाने के लिए घरों में rain water harvesting system अनिवार्य कर देना चाहिए , नहीं तो जिन लोगों को आराम से पानी मिल जाता है वे इसकी कीमत नहीं समझते हैं।

The simplest way to make earth green again is to stop eating beaf. More cows means more cow dung which means more organic content for the soil which means more microbial organisms which means more water retention in the soil. Saving water is like spending less but making soil come alive means earning more. Spending less is helpful but not as much as increasing earning. Anyways, video does provide some useful information. Keep it up.

After looking at the video, I guess I can call our house a green one. Our house has: 1. 3 KW Solar panels with net metering, 80-85% of our electricity needs are catered 2. Solar water heater of 300 litres 3. We harvest rain water in the sump & use it in the 3-4 months of monsoon 4. We do composting of all the kitchen waste (wet waste) 5. We make our own floor cleaners / toilet - Bioenzymes 6. We make our own shampoo 7. We avoid plastic to the extent we can 8. We have a garden which produces fruits like Guava, Mangoes, Chickoo, Pomegranate, Amla, Mosambi However, Our terrace gardening has been a failed attempt even after multiple tries. We are yet to switch to an EV car.

I have stopped using the word waste, I call it a natural resource. I have been composting on my 5 acre farm for over 30 years. I also built a bio digester. It works anaerobicly, the gas is captured cleaned, piped to a stove and it cooks our meals. Aint science fun
