I recently bought a quart size circa 1950s Hellmann's jar. I can't find anywhere a pictoral list of Hellmann's jars through the decades.

I remember Durkee making grated coconut. In the '60's they put out a series of pamphlet/cookbooks of patterns for "fancy" party cakes. There was a butterfly, a bear, a balloon, a turtle, an elephant, a heart, a shamrock. So many I can't remember. And all covered with Durkee food coloring dyed Durkee coconut. Mother was always making one to fit the occasion. Great memories !!! Thanks

Hi Brandy. good job. the Arnholt & Schaefer bottle is a nice one. they also come in amber bottles. you find them quite a bit in New Jersey around Camdon .

hi Brandy. trying to track down some bottles is almost impossible. It was an easy business to get in to and most were short lived. The Hutchinson is fairly common mostly in 1890s and early 1900 dumps. beer was never used in them. and I have not seen one in amber.

Just found my first swamp root bottle the other day. It’s my favorite bottle for sure.

Aurelius was my great great great grandfather, thank you for making this video. He died of pneumonia while on that ship, so that's probably why it's not mentioned in the ship's history.

I recall when I was a child someone mentioning that Lois came from money, so my guess is her family funded the company and wanted her listed as the president. I'm familiar with the soda, but I didn't realize it may have been the name of the company at some point. I know the only bottle I've seen that wasn't Pepsi was an orange soda - it must have been a nehi!

There was a popular kids show in Hawaii called Checkers and Pogo and every year they had a Mrs. Butterworth painting contest. And kids all over the state sent in hundreds of bottles over the years. And a lot of the bottles were incredibly detailed. But I noticed the children usually painted Mrs.Butterworth to look like a Aunt or Mother sometimes their Grandmother. So Mrs. Butterworth was a redhead , blonde , brunette. So she really wasn't black or white she was the Auntie the child dreamed of.

Grew up with Aunt Jemima, I loved the iconic logo ~ to me it's always represented comfort and good food. Period. You did a wonderful job of explaining the history of both syrups and pancakes.

Haha, my name is Elizabeth! Like Mrs. Butterworth, I too am like an old lady...even as a young person, I was always a homebody who loved to cook and take care of others. I have no desire to be anyone who is outgoing and carefree. I accept my personality, and my name fits me I think lol Thanks for this interesting story about two pancake syrup companies. In the past few years, Aunt Jemima is no longer the face for the brand...I think it's Pearl Mills Company or something now. I don't buy much pancake mix or syrup, as I make my own homemade recipe, and l prefer maple syrup (I'm Canadian). Take care Edit, I just saw you mentioned the Pearl Milling Company.
